Hey Cags. I am starting a backlog support group here on CAG and wanted to see where everyone was on their backlogs and maybe we can help push each other to start finishing our games.  I made a list of all my backlog games and realized that I have over 900 hours and I think this could be a good forum to come here, chat about what games we finished and what game to start next, update hours, with what games we buy or beat. Who knows, maybe we can even get some coop groups going to help.

How I added up my backlog: I used a spread sheet to list all my games and I matched each individual game with the corresponding time on Howlongtobeat.com

Another useful tool:

http://backloggery.com/ A backlog tracker / motivator. Credit to Bkjohns1 for bringing this info to the post.

Well I'm working on that now.  It was just the main story hours you used or did it vary if you thought it was a game you would seek out collectibles/trophies on?  Gotta have ground rules if we're going to compare our shamepeens.

Yeah just the main story, unless it was a game that didn't have a main story and then I looked at the length it would take to complete the trophies, but for the sake of simplicity, I think main story should be the focus.

Well I just finished tabulating the PSN stuff into a Google spreadsheet and leaving out free to play games and those that I've actually played more than an hour or two.  Also only counted titles I have on multiple platforms only once.  That puts me at 113 games and 1325.5 hours.

Think I'll call it a night there and start on the physical games tomorrow.

That's awesome! I'm trying to get Killzone Mercenary done so I can trade it in to Gamestop with the 2 for $50 promo then probably move over to Last of Us. My plan of attack is to start taking out the shorter 2-4 hour games after I finish my physical copies of games. Try to make the list look a little less intimidating.

One of the hardest things about working on the backlog, is prioritizing the games that I want to play. Do I want to play the games that have the highest TIV to try to unload to gamestop while they are worth it? What if they take the same amount of time as I two other games would take and basically be the same trade value? Or what type of game am I in the mood for?

Now that have killed all the credit I've accumulated on various stores it seems like I will finally be making a dent in my back log.  Pretty cool idea to start this thread. Currently playing Guacamelee and should be receiving a download code for A link between worlds tomorrow. Picked up Tales fo Xillia and Killzone: Mercenary over Black Friday weekend.

I'm using backloggery.com.  I don't care to total up how many hours I have.  The RPGs are gonna get me.  I estimate I have 5 years worth of games to play in my backlog.  I just recently finished Fallout 3 GOTY and I am wanting to start Enslaved then move onto Nier.

KZ Mercs is really fun. It has to be the best FPS and possibly the best shooter on the VIta.

Update:
Finished Xcom: Bureau Declassified. Not a bad game, but not a great game. Takes awhile to get going, but once you have the controls down it's pretty fun. I like the idea of the hybrid genre of shooter meets tactical strategy. I haven't played the Ghost Recon games in years so I don't exactly remember what they are like, but I don't think they are exactly like this.

Just finished Knack, it wasn't apart of my initial backlog list, but overall a decent game.

I've probably got around 200 games in my backlog. I've slowed down a ton on buying stuff and trying to only purchase something if I'm playin it right away or I just finished a game or two.

Playstation plus has really filled the backlog. Whether it's the free games or the heavily discounted games, it is hard to not take advantage of the deals. We are cheapassgamers after all.

I have at least 650+ games in my backlog. I do need to slow down on the acquisition, and am planning on taking a bit of a break for the first half of this coming year. The first title on my backlog to play is Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies. I'm already in the middle of playing it, and am about half way through. I've completed every other game in that series, so this one is getting played through, one way or another.

After that I'll probably move on to The Walking Dead: Season 1. I finished the first chapter of that title, but haven't played through the rest. Then I'm probably going to want to play the Stanley Parable and Gone Home. After that I'll play it by ear.

Finally finished Puppeteer. What a weird, dark game. The art style is pretty amazing. When you first start playing it, you feel like it is something that could have been made in LBP, but the more you play, the more you realize how Puppeteer is unlike any other platformer. It's too bad it wasn't more successful, because I would absolutely love a sequel, especially on the Vita.  I also finished Lego Marvel Super Heroes for the PS4. Lego Marvel is probably my favorite Lego game so far. I have only played Harry Potter 1-4, 5-7 and Lego LotR, but I was thoroughly impressed. I hope everyone's holiday season/ breaks are going well and that you have time to kick out some of that backlog.

I've got about 30-40 games in my backlog I think, really hoping to make a dent in them in 2014.

Finally finished a bunch of games that I recently received within the last week or two that I just never added to my list. Now I am back on the list and I set a rule for myself. I have to finish my Physical PS3 games before I buy another game. I have about 5-6 to go...

I've set up the same rule where I can not buy another game until I've gone through my physical games. I'm making it a point to take my time and not rush through any games so I can enjoy the experience. I feel like I'll be finished with the GTA V story mode soon where I'' continue to explore once I am done from time to time, and I need 2 more sages for a link between worlds but I'm meeting all the other quests as well.

This works for me. I've slowed down my physical game purchasing by a lot. I've only bought about 4 games this year. Thing is, I haven't had the motivation/dedication to play any of my games at all.

Well your first step was coming here to the support group ;). Maybe what would help is figuring out how long certain games are and just kick them out. I just finished the Killer Is Dead campaign and the Germinator story mode. K.I.D is nowhere near as good as Lollipop Chainsaw or Shadows of the Damned and at times I felt like I wanted to stop playing. It took me about 6-7 hours to finish it and I am happy I did. Germinator was an alright game. It doesn't give you a lot of time to think about your next move, which makes it sort of frantic. Getting through these games was more of a chore than some of the other games I have played since taking on my backlog, but not every game is going to be surprisingly good or even fun.

I have so many rpg games in my backlog (even from two gens ago). I think it is time I start Final Fantasy X, but maybe I should finish Dragon Quest VIII first

Even with this huge backlog I just bought Tales of Xillia and Tales of Vesperia... I think I have a problem.

Same here. In the time it'd take me to figure out the hours, count the games....I could have played one. I'm pathetic

Sorry for dbl post...but this helps me pass on K.I.D. I still need to play the other 2 Suda games you mentioned, so this makes that easier. Thank you :)

Hi everyone, my name is Invicta and I'm a backlogaholic.

My backlog started in 2008 when I got back into gaming with the NES, SNES and Genesis, so many games I'd never played.  It moved on to the PS1, PS2 and PS3 where it grew in the hundreds.

I first realized I had a problem when I purchased a game that was on sale only to find that I had purchased it months earlier and had forgotten because I hadn't played it.

I am now five years backlogged.

Welcome. Hopefully we can help you get through some games, I am sure if you have been collecting NES through PS3, you have some fantastic titles and a few hidden gems.

Glad to help. If you could get K.I.D for sub $10, I think you wouldn't be too disappointed. The art style is great (If you like cel shaded games) and there is a lot of weird stuff that you would expect from a Suda game. I just wouldn't give this game priority over any other game.

Just finished Sly Cooper Thieves In Time and Jacob Jones Big Foot Mystery. Sly Cooper is pretty good. Great variety in characters and a lot of levels. I may edit this later to update more info, but I'm lazy right now.

wrapped up on on A link between worlds last night! Amazing game and I think it will be one of the few I keep after I beat. Looking forward to returning and completing the hero quest after my Fiance plays through it. Next in my sights is Guacamelee and Killzone: Mercenary while I catch up on my book backlog as well haha

Just finished Labyrinth Legends and really didn't enjoy it. Just glad to have it off the list. I am going to start working on the NBA Jam Road Trip between games. I think I may start Malicious next.

You guys try to get through the game as quickly as possible using easy settings or do you go for trophies, accomplishments, etc.?  I've turned into a trophy whore which will make getting through games much longer.

I usually look at the trophy list and if there is a difficulty trophy I will play the game on the required setting. If there is not, I will play the game on the easiest. Generally I will do one play through and go for as many trophies as possible, maybe put in an hour or 2 after I finish the game to do some clean up, but I rarely plat games.

I've been doing that. I just have to sit down and actually do it.

I try to go for trophies/achievements. I'm not a whore, but more of a completist; I want to try and get all the trophies/achievements in the games I play although some of the time it doesn't happen.
