New to PC gaming - looking for PC exclusive single player game suggestions

They're on track to; they made a blog post this last week saying that they hope to within the coming months. From what I understand, supporting 64-bit requires re-encrypting every game that isn't emulated.

New to PC gaming - looking for PC exclusive single player game suggestions

Those are all great choices. I'd start on Crysis before STALKER (since Crysis is shorter), but The Witcher you could probably play at the same time. I recommend a GameTap subscription, there's tons of stuff to choose from there, both old and recent.

It isn't Savage 3, it's just Heroes of Newerth.

    *UPDATE* Good Replacement Keyboard?

It feels different ("better" being subjective) depending on the type of keyswitches used. I found that I prefer tactile, non-clicky keyswitches. That article I linked gives a breakdown of the differences, and demos several mechanical keyswitch keyboards that you have to choose from. ABS M1 is...

    *UPDATE* Good Replacement Keyboard?

For me, I'd say yes, but that's because I wanted mechanical keyswitches. If that's not important to you, go for features. I'm just throwing it out there because you said you wanted something built to last; many of these types of keyboards typically have good build quality. Here's an article...

    *UPDATE* Good Replacement Keyboard?

I recently bought an ABS M1 keyboard and I'm very happy with it. Tactile, non-clicky mechanical keyswitches. I've seen some people complain about more than 3 simultaneous key presses being an issue, but I've not had any problems yet. Pricing varies.

    Free anti-virus software vs $ anti-virus software

I would rather take the million-in-one odds and keep my system resources. My methods aren't something everyone's going to be comfortable with, but I did preface my post by saying "Ideally."

    Free anti-virus software vs $ anti-virus software

Ideally, you shouldn't need any real-time scanning anti-virus software. Be educated about do's and don'ts, and then follow through on not doing what you shouldn't be doing. You can be the best anti-virus there is. I've been operating for years using only manual scans, and even then, I don't get...

    Stuttering video need help!

Since other videos play fine, this particular video could be using a codec that VLC doesn't do well with decoding. I would recommend trying something like GOM Player, at least temporarily, to see if that's the issue.

    How is EA's digital store?

If you want to be able to re-download your games after 6 months or so they make you pay extra. I'd never buy anything there.

Battlefield 3 - Armored Kill out now

I very much doubt this would be multiplatform. The BF community would lose their shit. They've got 1943 and Bad Company for multiplatform BF.

MaximumPC is sure to have many helpful guides. Here, start on page 2. Page 1 is just recommending components, so they'll be referring to parts that you don't have, but the guide portion should get you rolling. http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/how_build_a_kickass_800_gaming_pc?page=0%2C1

SourceEngine Games & General Useage PC for a budget of $800 or less.

Moxio's build is almost there. Swap the 4830 for a 4770 and the E5200 for an E7200. Swap the case and PSU for a case that comes bundled with a PSU. Something Antec is a safe bet. It may be a few dollars more but it will be worth it.

    Upgrading to intel i7 920

Be aware, anyone else considering an i7, the i5 is on the horizon, looks to be good for gamers, possibly better than i7 is: http://anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=3570 See page 4 on "Turbo Mode".
