Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition - 1600 points
I thought there were enemies there.

I'm going to start playing at 10pm (2 hours from now) to continue mining underneath my preliminary castle. If anyone wants to help, come on by. Just make sure to put stuff in chests before you leave though, so it doesn't go away.

By the way, I have all the Cobblestone. All of it.
What's the hourly wage for the labor?

Finally completed my powered rail system all the way down to the bedrock. It's a fun ride down, but even more awesome being able to ride it back up. Sure took a lot of gold though. I've finally started putting some time into my house and took some screenshots.

Front view of my house (haven't done anything with the dispenser yet...just wanted the achievement, lol). I added the overhang today because more and more spiders kept getting up there. I had three up there at once yesterday. Crazy!

1st Floor...not sure what I'm going to do with it. It was my starting point, and now it's just kind of a work area/safe haven, complete with two button operated steel doors.

Entrance to my rail system. It had to extend pretty long across my floor because of the clearance needed to avoid hurting yourself when riding the minecart. So, I blocked it off with my chests, crafting table, furnace, etc. so I wouldn't fall in accidentally. The very end (barely visible in picture) is blocked off by a single fence post, which works nicely.

2nd Floor...I love my world. In this very small space, I've got snow, sand, grass, big trees, ice, fresh water, a giant natural cave (which I dug out first, before building my rail system...the two are now connected). Having all the windows is great for looking out for creepers in the morning. And the skylights allowed me to see where the spiders were (though hopefully that won't be an issue anymore).

Closer shot of the view at sunset. I love how this game can make such beautiful landscapes using such simple designs.

I've seen a lot of octopi stuck in waterfalls. Many of them are deep underground but I saw this one outside the other day:

Hmmm... Darker pictures do not turn out well. Below is a nighttime shot of my new netherrack pyramid me and my son built tonight. My house is off to the left. You could see everything in game but the screenshot is mostly dark. Just the very top of the pyramid is lit up.

I also built a small obsidian pyramid next to my house. My next project is a massive cobblestone pyramid out in the ocean on the horizon. I plan to have it touch the sky. That one will be tough because it will probably be in deep water for the most part.

Here's a better view of the Obsidian and Netherrack pyramids. I'm working on a much much larger cobblestone one out in the desert now. And yeah, I discovered by accident that you can grow a cactus on top of another cactus if you put a block of sand on top of it. I need to make those much taller ;).

Finally got around to uploading some pictures.

Here is my tower. I be adding on more, but this is how it is now. Long shot.

Here is a closer, side shot, with my railroad extending to the side. BTW, I got the "On the Rails" Achievement, so if anyone needs it, just let me know.

Here is my work room. This room was originally my entire house, but I have expanded the house quite a-bit. First door is to the railroad, second is a ladder that extends to the top of the house (and bottom of mine), third is stairs to bottom of mine.

I hear that sacrificing virgins is in? Nice pics bro.

Finally some pics!!!

This is one of my worlds, thought it was awesome how a waterfall was falling out of a mountain, i find this so cool, that it randomly generates something like this.

next up is one of the random wholes i found, this is completely sealed up, just the top missing. want to build something cool in here.

This one is a cave i found, with a working water slide to the right. Plan on building a cave/house here.

Far away view of my main island.

This is the very first image i seen while loading into my world, i added the top bridge of course, but this mountain was so awesome to me, i couldnt believe the game generated something sweet like this.

Night time shot, of my main mountain, i am obsessed with torches in the night time, seeing it reflect off the towers and mountain is like sex to me haha. LOVE IT.

These next two shots are of some MARIO creations my friend shawn made, one is on his beach, the next is down in a mine...i deemed it the GOOMBA CAVE!

I know mine arent as extravagant as some peeps, but i just am so amazed by the landscapes of this game. crazy how a game of such simple graphics can be so breathtaking.

I'm starting to get really pissed about the game freezing. I tried the Nether again today after a week or so and it worked. I'm in need of glowrock like crazy. I didn't get enough my first trip but my 2nd and 3rd attempts it freezes before I even get in the Nether. Glowrock is a pain in the ass to mine when it's hanging above a massive lake of lava and getting blasted my Ghasts.

Here is my cart station on my 3rd floor:
560466_2217230806740_1726733772_1133878_869700315_n.jpg
The left rail goes to pretty much every where. It's a work in progress. The second rail goes to my bros vacation house and the third goes to my beach house. Just hit the button next to the sign and the cart shoots out and goes to a little station ready to jump in and go.

This is my newly furnished room:

I need more black wool to finish my floor. I've been watching lots of videos on youtube.

This is the video I used to make my station.

now that I know that I can always reload the game at any time, it kind of breaks some of the game's design. there's no tension anymore. if something bad happens, I just reload my save. of course, this means I have to constantly save, which does break the mood.

When my above-ground building was totally destroyed while I was underground, I was in a state of panic after all the work I had done to accrue items in the chests in the building. Had I known at the time that all I had to do was reload, it would've totally changed my game experience.

I was bored so I made a lava/glass room for my house. Took fucking forever. Progression to completion pics:

it was such a bitch to make. having to shovel all that glass. and the fact that my house has "floating" rooms was super annoying. I basically had to create a glass room with another glass room inside of it and have a block apart space all around to pour lava in. The thing is completely covered in lava and enclosed even from the top. Decided to put 3 windows in it as well. so yeah.

I saw the painting in one of io's pics and just kept tossing it up till it came out.

Dang, the lava room makes the lava fall near my house not seem so cool anymore. I'll have to upgrade.

btw I died three times trying to make that lava room, negligence made me fall into the lava as I was trying to pour it in. many items lost. many tears. but wasn't worth reloading. haha. I wish you luck!

I started this thread because my kids were super excited about it, and they love it, but for some reason I've never really gotten into the game myself. I really would like to get into though. Probably I need to sit down when my kids aren't playing and go through the tutorial and see if I catch the bug.

Anyway, what I'm really posting about is my mind being blown by the fact that Minecraft was the 2nd most played game on XBL last week. Second only to MW3. Beat out Black Ops and everything else. But then I think this is a bit of a trick, because I tend to think of that list as being for playing online (or is that true??), and this game kind of fakes it because it defaults to being online and you may well "play online" without ever having anyone join your game. Still, it says a lot of people are playing it one way or another.

Single player games count same as MP for that list.
Saw my first wild pink sheep today. Then I promptly beat him for that sweet pink yarn.
I had no idea there were pink sheep! I've been finding light gray ones recently though. I finished my giant cobblestone pyramid but haven't taken a picture of it yet.

I did find this while wondering around. It is a completely "natural" floating square of dirt with a tree smack in the middle:
So I'm assuming you guys are making these huge creations in the free play mode instead of survival?
I have yet to play with any enemies. I don't want them messing my shit up ;). But I mean can't you avoid them for the most part by just sleeping when it is dark? That just sounds annoying though - would much rather just work through the dark or sleep at my convenience. I was just putting my bed out on the side of my pyramid when I needed to sleep.
I've yet to have any luck mining. I haven't found any gold, lapis lazuli, redstone, or anything. :p
Oh, man, I can help you there. If you are playing tonight let me know when and I'll find you some stuff. Unless your world seed just totally sucks but I can't imagine that is the problem.
I've yet to have any luck mining. I haven't found any gold, lapis lazuli, redstone, or anything. :p
How far down have you gone? I had to get to bedrock before I started finding anything besides Iron/Coal.

It is my understanding that lapis and diamond will generally not be so far down (at bedrock). In my own experience I've found a little diamond that low but no lapis. I have found tons of redstone down there, though. It's to the point now where I don't even bother mining it much of the time. I don't know how valid this is, but I read somewhere that the ideal spot for diamonds is 17 blocks up from the bottom. I tried exploring there and did find diamond, gold, and lapis. But I find most of my stuff just exploring the underground caves you inevitably end up in when digging down. It's not so much that there are more minerals there, but that you have so much exposed surface to see that you can find more stuff without so much digging.

Anyway, tonight I joined Ryuukishi's game with the intent of finding him some metals and such but with the constant mob attacks it made it hard. But I got a good start on some stairs leading down so Ryuukishi, if you want me to help out tomorrow night or something just let me know.

So friends can join games, obviously. But here's something I did not know: friends of friends and even friends of friends of friends can also join! I think someone mentioned a "random" person appearing in their game and was wondering how that happened. My son joined Ryuukishi's game and then one of his friends joined as well. I guess that's one more reason to set it to "invite only" ;). Though I think they were both pretty well-behaved. My son planted more sugar cane for you around a lake and we gave you all your stuff back when that zombie killed you. His friend is some kid he met through Halo Reach, though - I don't know much about his except he did help in my son's world after you quit and he seemed OK. By the way, could you hear us talking at all?

I kinda lost all desire to play any more. I really wanted bricks which comes from clay which is near impossible to find. The next update will fix the clay issue but just as I feared/knew, one has to start a new world.

I put way to much effort into my current world. Mined for hours and hours looking for gold, iron and red stone and cut down billions of trees to make rails every where. Made my neat works of art and my awesome house.

Here's my pink sheep:

Yeah, I keep getting skeletons spawning inside that new house I was building. I don't know if it's not well lit enough yet or what. Not my idea of the perfect night, to go to sleep with two other guys in the bed and then wake up to death by skeleton. I did appreciate you guys collecting the stuff and giving it back though. :) I couldn't hear you guys at all-- I didn't have my headset plugged in last night but normally I can hear it through my speakers when people are talking. Were you all in a party together or something?

yes, that's what happened to me. a couple guys who I have never met (as far as I know) joined my world and wreaked havoc while I was underground.

I since heard that people who have played with or against you in the past in any game can browse through the recently played list of players and if they find someone that has played minecraft, they can jump into that game.

Since then, I've set mine to invite only. No more griefing. No more trolling.

If anyone actually wanted to play Minecraft and I've had some nice experience with them, I'd love the company but otherwise, I'm locking down my world.

How in the hell did anybody get the flying pig achievement? I found the saddle, but I can't get the damn pig to move toward an edge for anything. I've even tried enclosing him, and then digging a big hold right outside the enclosement, and then creating only one way to get out...and he STILL won't go out. I try hitting him to persuade him, but still nothing. After hitting him 5-6 times, he dies, and I have to reload so I won't lose my saddle. What's the secret here?

EDIT - Thank God that worked, lol. Make a post about it...get it on your next try. I had to start with a large enclosement, and then wait for him to go near one of the walls, then continue closing him in. I finally got it to a 1x3 space, and then STILL had to beat the living shit out of him to get him to fall off the edge. I can't believe he didn't die before he fell off. Got the achievement though. Glad to be done with that one.

I will add, while questing for this saddle, I explored the largest cave system I could ever imagine. It just kept going down and branching out, room to room to room. I didn't hit the dungeon until I had lava (and obsidian) all around me. It took me about 3 hours to search this whole thing, plus the time I spent venturing from my house to find it in the first place. It legitimately felt like some kind of huge expedition because I kept having to dig out the side of mountains and hunker down for the night (playing on easy). By the time I finally returned home, I had acquired about 10 diamonds, 58 iron ore blocks, 38 lapis lazuli, about a bazillion coal, and 31 gold ore blocks. Powered railroad all the way around my island? Yes, please! :)

When I got it I did it with a friend. We started with the seed "888" to find an easy saddle, then we found a pig. It took some work but we build a fence around a pig so that he could only stand on one block while encased. We then made a giant open area (Around eight blocks deep by eight wide) underneath him. It was easy then, we put the saddle and punched out the block below and he fell right into the hole and took damage.

Hope this helps. :)

Ah, that makes a lot more sense. Digging out from under him. Clever.

I'll be on a bit later if anyone wants to get the rail achievment. I just need the wolf one now so I may build a hunting lodge out far away from my main stuff and turn on the enemies.

Sounds something similar to what my brother and I are doing. Have our house that were building but we also have another smaller house where we store things that are not used often or excess of things. It's also where we set out looking for monsters when we turn them on.
I'll be on a bit later if anyone wants to get the rail achievment. I just need the wolf one now so I may build a hunting lodge out far away from my main stuff and turn on the enemies.
For the wolf one, just find one, save the game, befriend the wolf, exit without saving, reload, then repeat from befriending. It's a lot easier that way.

I'm going to strip mine for a while. I've been digging under my Castle for too long and its' getting me nowhere.

I fought some enemies for a bit but it is a pain since they kept spawning in my tiny hunting lodge when I tried to sleep.

I got plenty of bones and then I thought that you fed the wolf bonemeal so I made it into that and when I eventually found a wolf hours later I wasn't prepared. I wasn't far from my house but by the time I got back there to get a regular bone I couldn't find him any more. Oh well... It is a regular bone, right? Bonemeal didn't give me any option other than to hit the wolf with it ;).

I ended up making a massive railway around a big part of my map. I have much more work to do on it though. I'm trying to figure out how to make stops along the way but the switch/redstone/powered rail thing isn't working for me. I discovered an awesome canyon with 2 waterfalls in it (the octopus stuck in the waterfall in the second picture below is from there). I'll post pictures of the canyon later. I had "uncovered" all of my map yet somehow I hadn't seen the canyon yet - I must have gone right around it.

Here's a shot of my huge cobblestone pyramid and the road leading up to it:

544680_109440005862224_100003886746016_49885_1677608046_n.jpg

Unfortunately I built it just a bit too far from my house. From my big front window you only see about 1/3 of it rendered off on the horizon. I'm also in the process of expanding the steps on each side into a a 3-wide set of cobblestone steps (instead of 1 as in this picture). It would be kind of cool if I had made the whole pyramid out of steps since they would make it appear more smooth (or have more but smaller steps). Unfortunately the corners would have to be normal cobblestone so that may not look right. What is cool about the steps, though, is that they let some light through so I have these strips of light coming down each side. I'll have to try to get a picture of that tomorrow but the interior/darker shots come out too dark on Facebook. In case you are wondering, the base of the pyramid is 67 squares. I could have made it a bit bigger I suppose but that was probably enough. If I can keep my interest in the game going I might make an even larger sandstone one.

Meanwhile, 3 octopi stuck in the bottom of a waterfall:

How wide is your pyramid? I was gonna make one out of sandstone but probably not as big. Is that a fire on the top? Also is that a walkway in the center or just the angle the pic was taken?

I started an awesome new project that didn't turn out how I wanted so I have to rework it. While doing so I came up with two other fantastic ideas that will take some time. Since I was discouraged a bit I started another quicker project I should finish this afternoon.

Youtube some videos on crazy Minecraft structures. There's some insane stuff out there. 99% of it is from creative mode on the pc but still cool.

Sorry I kept editing my post so some of those are answered above but probably not when you posted. The pyramid is 67 squares on the bottom (remember to make it odd whatever you do or you don't end up with 1 at the very top). Each side of the pyramid has cobblestone steps leading up the middle (I think this is the walkway you are talking about). I did that originally so it would be easier to run up (instead of having to jump the whole way). But as I mentioned above, it has this cool internal lighting effect too.

And yeah, that is a netherrack lit on fire on top. I had made an entire pyramid out of netherrack before (I think I posted a picture of that) but it was only 35-40 on the base. Of course, netherrack is nearly limitless so it is probably the easiest thing to build with. I have a small obsidian pyramid near my house, too, but it is only 11 blocks wide.

I've sort of intentionally not watched or looked at any PC creation videos or other Minecraft stuff in general as I'm just having fun figuring out things on my own. I'm sure some of the stuff people do on the PC game is incredible - but as you said they have an advantage. I know my son has some mod installed that let him fly around which by itself would make building so much easier. But if I viewed some of those things it would probably discourage me from my own projects because they would seem pathetic in comparison ;). My son showed me an awesome wooden trellis mine cart ride (on the PC) which put my cobblestone-based track to shame.

^ That's not a mod, that's creative mode, coming to Xbox 360 soon as well. Let's you fly around and gives unlimited recources.
Thanks for the idea! I just got it thanks to that!

Edit: Anybody on right now that can help me out with On the Rails?
Hey man, super sorry I missed your message live.

I didn't think anyone needed it, so I ended up going to bed a little early. I saw your message this morning. Next time we're both on, I will invite you.

No problem, man. Whenever I get to it it's cool.

My quickie project:

I love Scott Pilgrim. (The movie, not the guy...)

Finishing up my awesomeness later. I try to take what other people do, like the sprites, and make them better. I have some awesome ideas but they will take time and my wife is off this weekend and I need to promote 3 characters in Mass Effect so I won't know when I'll finish them.

Where are diamonds and gold supposed to be in terms of depth? I've only found Diamonds twice so far, and I'd love know where I could get more.
