Red Dead Redemption - Undead Nightmare out now!
Exclusive content on PS3 sounds like a deal to me. I took the question mark off the thread title and added exclamation marks instead Happy now? By the way you did not start your first sentence with a capitalized letter.
Except that it's not a deal, douchebag.
I'm still getting them on the 360 since that is my preferred system but congrats to the PS3 gamers out there for getting the exclusives.
Boo 360 sucks, all MS does is nickel and dime you to death. Don't feed the monster anymore otherwise they'll just go back to their old M.O. which they have been showing more and more lately.

P.S. I have both, but I support Sony since MS seems be leaning to their old ways and we as gamers are having prices raised because of them and your willingness to pay for things that were free.

Exactly, people are paying for things that should be free. If they just stood up for themselves it would be a different matter.

However that's an argument I do not want to start.
Wonderful, so I guess this thread got merged with one some fuck made to announce the exclusive content.

Seems like GS and Best Buy are doing a lot of midnight openings...3 near me...wow!

RED DEAD Midnight Openings
Interesting. The Gamestop inside the local mall that I pre-ordered my copy from is doing a midnight release. I figured they probably wouldn't be doing one because they almost never do.

I'm working the next morning bright and early for the primary election, so I have to be up for 5am-ish to be at the polls to set up for 6 to be open by frickin' 7am.

So now the question is, do I keep my online pre-ordered copy(since I figured I wouldn't make it to the store till Weds in the afternoon and get fucked outta the soundtrack bonus) or do I go to the midnight launch and end up probably playing the game till it's time to be up and drag my ass the whole day at work?

Hmmmmm.... Now I'm conflicted as to what to do. Then again, I'm set to get RDR shipped right to my door via the DEADEYE overnight shipping code with the bonus soundtrack the day after release, so I won't have to drag my ass to the mall at midnight to get my copy. fuck. I figured my closest store wouldn't be doing the midnight release, which is why I ordered online.

Where's your store? I'm also near one that's in a mall that's doing a midnight release and I'm weighing the same options. I read somewhere online that overnight shipping will get it to you on release day since games *ship* the day before release day, so technically we should it in the mail on Tuesday. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Personally, if I were you, I'd say fuck it and go midnight, play til dawn, enjoy the shit out of it and think about it all day as I'm fighting to stay awake at work. :D

I'm really debating that, but with the online pre-order I get the $10 code towards a future purchase, the soundtrack, the other pre-order goodies(hopefully) and I don't have to stay up till midnight to get it.

Then again I think I slogged through working the polls last year with a cold or other impairment, so I was kinda out of it then too.

Hopefully you're right about the overnight shipping and getting it release day in the mail, since then I know what I'll be doing after coming home from work next Tuesday.;)

As for the store I have it ordered from, I'm getting it from the Steamtown Mall in Scranton, PA. I'm really shocked to see they're doing the midnight thing though.

What amuses me though is that the Rockstar site says some WalMarts are doing the release at midnight, yet if you have a 24 hour WalMart in your area all you have to do is be there around midnight-ish and ask for the game on release day. That's what I did with the GTA IV Special Edition two years ago. A friend and I hit up the one close WM Supercenter at 12am and walked out with two of the four SE copies they had with one for each of us.

Alright. I just saw this thread over on Gamefaqs that said Best Buy/Gamestop and some other retailers may be giving away a sealed deck of Red Dead Redemption playing cards as a bonus item to those who pre-ordered. Now I have even more reason to try and stop in for my pre-order on Tuesday(or maybe stop by tomorrow and see if they got them already and see if I can snag a deck to go with my pre-order).

Here's the thread from Gamefaqs mentioning them: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/957923-red-dead-redemption/54757308

And below is a link that was posted in the thread on GF that goes to Kotaku showing a deck of the cards both sealed and spread out to show detail:
http://kotaku.com/5537023/the-satan...g-jacks-of-red-dead-redemptions-playing-cards

I'm guessing the gamestop I'm going to will be getting those cards, glad I'm hitting up the midnight release.
I hope my GS is getting those cards. Then I'll def. be going to the midnight launch.

Here's what they look like in case anyone is curious:

Red Dead Playing Cards
 Didn't I just post a link to that same site? Good to know that they're like casino cards, though I don't think I'll ever open them if I do get them.

That is unless the Gamestop I pre-ordered from has a ton of packs and more than enough to cover the pre-orders and decided to give me 2-3 of them.;)

okay I preordered on gamestop.com to take advantage of the 25off deal and also drop my store credit. What are the chances I will find a deck of cards in the box on tues. when I receive it ?

and if I dont get them in the box will I look like a complete dumbass if I go to my local G$ and ask them if they have extra's they can give me because I ordered it online ?

They already took the payment for my RDR pre-order I did online, so now the question remains whether or not I wanna wait till Tuesday and hopefully grab my in store pre-order and then return the online order with that receipt or just cancel the pre-order online now and hope I get the soundtrack, DLC code and cards come the midnight launch.

I asked a friend about the cards, and he works at a gamestop, he said he doesnt know anything about them. So could be just a best buy thing, or limited gamestop stores.

HEY EVERYONE:

Just got back from Wal-Mart and they have a sticker on the game case that says be the first to own the game blah blah blah blah . Purchase the game on May 18th and receive a deck of playing card for free.

So it looks like walmart also has the deck of cards

Jeez, how did I miss your link? My bad, didn't see it.

I'll just throw this out there in case I don't score a pack of cards, if anyone happens to get a pack of cards they don't want or gets an extra pack, I'll be willing to trade my soundtrack for it. Unopened, of course.

Is the exclusive PS3 stuff listed on the box art specifically for in-game or HOME?
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010...y-session-items-for-red-dead-redemption-more/

Those of you that, like me, obsessively collect each and every unlockable reward from your favorite PS3 and PSN games in PlayStation Home will be stoked to learn that Rockstar’s upcoming sandbox-style western game Red Dead Redemption (available for the PS3 on May 18th) will unlock exclusive outfits for your avatar upon reaching in-game milestones. We don’t want to spill any beans concerning the plot of this sure-to-be-hit title, so we’re not going to tell you how to earn these rewards just yet but trust me when I say that, if you love Red Dead Redemption, PlayStation Home is the place to be when you are looking for people to challenge to a good ol’ fashioned Mexican standoff in the 16-player max multiplayer.
Maybe the "gang hideout" is a HOME apartment similar to the Bat Cave you got for loading up the PS3 version of Batman?

I just got home and I stopped at Best Buy, WalMart and Gamestop.

In order, this seems to be the exclusive item you get for pre-ordering/buying the game at each store.

Gamestop: Soundtrack
Best Buy: Poster
WalMart: Playing Cards

Unfortunately, Gamestop's employees didn't know wtf I was talking about when I asked about the possible playing cards. Walmart's game cases had a poster on them advertising the playing cards and Best Buy's employees told me they just had posters to give out.

The sign just said 'be here on May 18th at 12:01 am to get RDR and the cards'.

I'm gonna hope the GS I have my copy pre-ordered at actually does get in some packs of cards and they're not just limited to WM. Then again, I can't get to the GS to get my copy until Wednesday at the earliest.

Does anyone know if the targeting lock-on mode available in single player is an option for multiplayer as well?

The reason I ask is because GTAIV had that as well and it ruined the multiplayer...it made it way too easy to kill someone who was driving in a car or on a motorcycle. I'm afraid the RDR multiplayer would turn into a bunch of "guy on a horse galloping toward you, you shoot him from half a mile away, he dies, repeat."

I know you could turn the auto-lock off in GTAIV multiplayer but it was up to the host and most people kept it on. I don't want the option to be there at all.

i think it will be off for mp because like you said itd make it too easy to kill people. man i dont know if its coincidence or not but theres alt of things on tv now about the wild west. some guy trying to find jesse james hidden stash of loot.

Actually in GTA IV they added a patch that allowed you to set preferences now so you'll only go to games with your specific preferences(unless a friend invites you to a game, then all bets are off).

So hopefully it doesn't take them over a year to make a patch for RDR to allow for preferences to be set in single player for when you go into multiplayer.

From what little I saw on the guy streaming some gameplay, I will probably set it to no-lock on. It got kinda funky in GTA when you're trying to shoot a guy in the nuts. First it snaps to the target then you have to move the reticule.

 Shoot a guy in the nuts? I thought I was bad aiming for head shots or trying to cripple them first with shots to each extremity.

Personally, the most fun besides teabagging the people you killed in mp was locking on to kick them in the head a couple dozen times before they respawned.;)

Headshots became easy in GTA4 once you got the hang of them. I like to take full advantage of the Euphoria engine that R* uses. Its so frickin cool that I'm surprised more companies aren't flocking to it. If you've seen some of the RDR trailers where there's a Mexican character running at the player and gets shot with shotgun, the force with which he flies backwards is so cool and borders on realistic. Even the way the horses move and react look realistic. Its things like that that and all the little extra details that R* puts in their games that make them so much fun.

I didn't play much MP in GTA4 but I plan to with RDR.

I just got done preordering this on Amazon but I'm a little worried. The RDR product listing page mentioned the $20 gift card credit and said it would take 10 business days to get sent, but then as soon as I placed the order I got a $5 credit for an MP3 download in an email.

Did this happen to anyone else? Is this a $5 MP3 download credit in addition to a $20 gift card, or did my order get messed up somehow? I didn't have anything else in my cart so I know that wouldn't have affected it...

i think its some kind of deal you get for ordering either games or maybe that value amount of something. i got one too but the 20 card wont be shipped out till later.

How do we do the Rockstar Social Club crap on the PS3? I remember running it for GTA IV on Steam version on the PC, and it always ran in the background.

If have to say I'd be lying if I wasn't hyped for tomorrow despite the fact I never particularly cared for the Wild West. Truth be told I've been starving for a lengthy worthwhile single player experience to somehow match/succeed the open world awesomeness that was Fallout 3. Definitely have to tip my hat to Bethesda for at least trying to give a damn about genre balance among other things. Since New Vegas is still so far away I know I'm better hands than most with Rockstar at the helm of this latest venture so either way I'll probably get my money's worth in the end. I never was a huge fan of the GTA series either but never regretted the time I spent playing them.
No IGN review anytime soon for the PS3. Rockstar didn't provide a copy in time for a review.

360 Version gets a 9.7.
I don't really like IGN's reviews but it's getting some great scores from pretty much everyone... the game should be awesome.:)
David Carradine (Kill Bill, Kung Fu) did a character voice....I'm pretty sure. Look at IGN's video review and listen for the guy that says "an impasse, sir, and impasse" at the 0:56 mark. If it is...wow!

I dont get the part where he talks about hickups and bugs. The main character bends over to gut an animal? and you can see some grass really close.... like bad texture grass. But i dont see how thats a hickup or bug. Maybe it didnt load the grass all the way? Unless i missed something else in that scene?

Decided to order this from Walmart.com so that I get the playing cards (love playing cards) and the $20 e-gift card. Estimated arrival date isn't until like next Friday though, which worries me, but even if that's true, that'll give me time to get through some of the backlog.
