This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction."

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store.

True that. I remember being 12, about ten years ago, and my Grandma and Mom would go to the mall. In the time span of an hour and a half, I'd go to Target, K-Mart, TRU, Circuit City, and Best Buy, and find all sorts of games, unmarked. Just randomly checked them. So many Dreamcast games at Circuit City for bomb prices... and Target was incredible. Just pick up some random games and I found at least one awesome find.
It was all before CAG existed too-- the hunt was truly exciting then.

Are these clearance items (sub 14.99) in their own special area? Or in the same cases with new releases? The only out of glass case racks I can find are like 20.99 and 14.99 and those are marked on the heading. Went to two different targets and couldn't find anything super low.

Sometimes they do clean house, but most of the time, they just move it around... to your point, as far as the automotive section.

darkslime, ask the clerk where it is. They will either tell you its gone or they will tell you where it's at.

I walk the entire store following the endcaps and look at all the clearance sections...I've found toys in the stationary, video games in the food, etc. etc....you never know when you might find a gem that has been misplaced.

Is Turning Point REALLY that bad? I picked up, but have not opened. Maybe I should return?

Stopped at four different Targets today and I all of them did not have a bid selection of clearance games. Only two of them had games (ATV vs. MTX PS3 and NCAA 08 360). Other than that everything else was gone. It was really weird. I did notice that the Sony Blu-Ray Players are on clearance. I will keep my eye out on that.

I did see the Blu Rays at one last night - 15% off of 399.99 so they were 340. I think they were the BDP-S300 models.

Check around electronics...they move them. Has happened at the 2 local Targets I frequent.

After taking a look at a couple pages, I wanted to reiterate this to some of you guys with the disappearing clearance section:

If an alarming amount of clearance items has disappeared off an endcap, and been replaced by a promotional item/single item/a particular flavor of item (like Ipod accessories), it means the stock crew went nuts in changing a plan-o-gram, threw all the clearance stuff in a buggy, and pushed it to the back. It may take a couple of associates to get an answer, but whenever I've seen this happen.. somebody will snag said buggy in the back and wheel it out for you. Now there is the possibility that they went ahead and shipped the stuff to Goodwill or a different local charity, that typically won't happen until it's deleted in the system.

Then again, there's also the possibility (especially with lawn furniture) that they threw it out back to get thrown away in the dumpster.. if you're ballsy enough, I guess you could drive to the back of the store and dumpster dive after hours, but I personally wouldn't suggest it.

I'd say lately though that the number of clearance games has dwindled greatly in comparison to other periods this year.. the frequency, rate of markdown, and number of offerings tends to follow a cycle with the Target clearances. We have downturns, and then we have spikes.. little $5 off coupons also increases demand as we all know. Last but not least.. if you know your store had 50 copies of Heavenly Sword a couple of days ago and they're all gone, take a look at the cashier kiosk. Chances are they're stuffed there awaiting new markdown stickers.. or if you want to be a real asshole, ask for that obvious one the clerk hid to purchase later and took off the shelf.

Also, check other clearance endcaps. I've found games clearanced onto the underwear endcap. Plus there's other stuff... I bought an Air Hogs Reflex Pro helicopter for $20 recently on clearance (they're usually somewhere at the $69 range at retail). Already blew it to smithereens though when drunkenly chasing the cat with it, and gassing the throttle too much after forgetting to turn the ceiling fan off.

I went to the Target over at Palo Alto today to check on my stash. I put away the following:

1. The Club
2. Master of Illusion
3. Parappa the Rapper
4. Beavis and Butthead Vol 3 on UMD.

I went over to the cashier in the electronics section and he scanned The Club and it wasn't showing up on the system. Now I was debating with him on selling it to me for $14.98. He said that I could get it at the price that was on the label, which was $41.98.

At this point, I was thinking "Why did I go here when I could've gone to the front and ask them up there."

He looked at me and I wanted to take the game back but he rudely took the game and tossed it aside.

I ended up getting Master of Illusion for $7.98 and the Beavis and Butthead UMD for $3.74.

I'm still kinda heated about this. I was thinking that the guy wanted the game for himself. Not to mention he was very rude and not helpful at all. What do you guys think?

Sometimes it is so old that it is not in the system at all, my brother found a copy of Grand Theft Auto:SA for the xbox and it was not in any system so the Manager said to the cashier to give it to him for $4.98 which was a good price for an original print version of that game.

This happened to me with Guitar Hero I for PS2. I went in a few weeks back just goofing around, no clearance games. It wasn't on the regular shelf, either. I go back a week later, clearance. Weird.

Last time I was there, it seemed the people at my local Target had moved the clearance games into the regular game case. I didn't see them at first, but eventually noticed Soldier of Fortune ($30) and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground ($20) behind the glass. The normal clearance section had been turned into a Guitar Hero III endcap.

"Supposed to" is irrelevant - most of the time, they just punch in the sticker price manually, and while there is a slight chance you'd be able to overrule them with a manager or another employee, it's usually not worth the effort.

They don't take kindly to you when you try to tell them you think you know store policy better than they do.

The Club is far from a subpar game. It's essentially a next-gen, full game version of the Mercenaries mode in RE4. It's easily worth a pickup at $15 - $20.
