This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.
Just decided to pick up the last copy of SCIV in my area for $30, in hopes that it drops to $14.99 tomorrow.

They do price-adjust clearance games, right? or do I have to do a return/rebuy?
It really depends on your store. Some will price adjust, some will let you do a return/rebuy, and others (like the ones in my area:bomb:) will just tell you that clearance items aren't eligible for price drops and shut you down completely.

I think I've even seen CAGs post here saying that they have to return the item and then rebuy it once they get around to putting it back on the shelf.

I shop at Target enough that if there are multiple quantities I just buy it now because of the 90-day rule. Then when you go again and you see it on clearance just buy it, and return the new item with the original receipt. That will always work if you are able to re-buy. Otherwise try for the price match.

That's what I do. I'll buy a game when it hits the price I'd be willingly to pay and if it drops again, bonus. Too many times I'd get greedy and wait for that last drop but then all the copies would disappear and I'd lose out completely.

I checked the Target that had about 15 copies of Lego Batman and they were all gone. I thought that the price had dropped to $12.48 but when I checked, they had only dropped to $24.98. :whistle2:|

At the next Target, I found a single copy of LBM so I bought it at $24.98. Hopefully, I can find it at $12.48 at another Target and I'll just return this one. If I can't, then I'll just do a return/rebuy. Also picked up Spiderman: WoS PS3 for $14.98.

The Target in Culver City, CA has most of their clearance games still at 30% off. They had alot of copies of TR: Underworld, Soul Calibur 4 and The Last Remnant (IIRC).
Are you sure TRU was $14.98? The next price drop at 70% should have been around $19. Did they reduce the MSRP they were basing it on down to $50?
I'm positive. Receipts don't lie. :)
Damn, I guess that means I should have them check the price at my Target, because all the copies I have seen were behind glass and not marked under 30% off. Also, hoping to see Fracture, UT3, Rock Revolution, and Too Human at 75% off tomorrow.
You need to create and maintain a UPC sheet. When I see titles behind glass that have been reported here as being on clearance (which is what gets them on my UPC sheet), I always check the price via the in-store price checker. This isn't the first time behind-glass clearance titles were marked higher than their actual price, so having a UPC sheet really pays off.

I so envy you. I'm lucky enough if my Target hits the 75% off mark and sometimes even the 50% off mark. I'm hoping Last Remnant, Tomb Raider Underworld, and Soul Calibur IV are $14.98 today. I need to head out before class.
Yeah... no.
Why would the poster lie? Fable and Rockband are 75% off, and the other 3 titles are a little off from the norm-- 85% drops are possible, but like another poster pointed out it seems like Target discounted it 88%, which is a weird number. It does seem pretty soon for his Target to drop the 14.98 titles further, but it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

I was pretty smooth with Fable-- found one of the last ones in my area for 48.98. About a week later (last Saturday) I went to another store, bought a 25 dollar gift card, went to go eat dinner with the girl, then came back in saying I forgot to use my giftcard and if I could return and buy it with the gift card. But now it is confirmed that the 17.48 price point is a possibility, I'm going to have to do it again... Glad I didn't open it.

Far Cry 2 (PS3) down to 14.98 was the only change I saw. HOWEVER they did have rows of Killzone 2 out already. Too bad I have it preordered at GS with credit. I waited as Id rather spend credit :p

Not yet 75% for me, still at 50%:

iconps3.gif
EndWar - $29.98
iconps3.gif
Rock Band Track Pack 2 - $14.98

Is EndWar worth it if I can ever get it for 15 bucks? Anybody played it much?

Well my Target didn't have another drop...most stuff stayed at $29. However, I did find something that no one is talking about...some PSP, PS2, and DS games are $10 this week. I picked up the Capcom Classics Reloaded for the PSP with games like SFII and Ghosts N Goblins series. For $10, that ain't half bad!
Checked a Target in Orange County this morning... Soul Calibur was still $29.xx, same as last night.

Damn Target and it's YMMV...
which target in the OC?

I was completely shocked yesterday...as for the first time in my CAG life, I walked into a Target with no electronic clearance shelf or section. And trust me, I looked and even asked...ridiculous.

Checking clearance prices this early in the morning is goofy -- the prices have to be activated in the system. You're not going to see a price change until later this afternoon, when the employees actually get around to it.

I wasn't under the impression that price changes had to be "activated" by the store. I assumed it was controlled by the national chain.

My mistake. I can never seem to time these things right.

Not always true. Some re-pricing teams are there before the store opens and are finishing up soon after customers come in. As everything else related to Target, YMMV.

That is why I am so happy one of my Targets is the few that does it 1st thing in the morning. I usally stroll in about 10am and they have it all done its great. Only thing that went down at mine though today was Fracture and Too Human which I snagged at $10 bucks a piece
If it was controlled by a national chain, every Target would have exactly the same clearance price, and it wouldn't be nearly as YMMV.
Not necessarily. They might feel different regions react do different prices. Who knows.

Regardless, it's nice to know how it works. Guess it really is purely luck of the draw. Monday afternoon-evening would seem to be a good time to check.

Too bad I haven't had any luck at all with Target at that time range.

Target right near me sold its last copy of The Last Remnant so I'm not sure if it price dropped today or if someone is just stupid and bought it for $30

the other Target further away though still has it for $30

gonna try the UPC thing and check the price at the Target near me, if it's $15 there can I do a buy at the one store and then return/rebuy or get refunded the difference at the one near me?

Went today and got.

Too Human $9.99
PS3 rock band track pack vol.2 $7.48
PS3 Singstar Bundle game and 2 Mics $14.98

Saw XBOX 360
Last Remnant ~$30
Tomb Radier ~ $30
Soul Calabier ~ $30
If it was controlled by a national chain, every Target would have exactly the same clearance price, and it wouldn't be nearly as YMMV.
Simply not true. Those people you see walking through target every monday morning with those handscanners? They are doing that to validate inventory and to update any pricing. That is why people check stuff "in the system". The system pricing in controlled centrally. It seems that for a pricing reduction to take effect on clearance, they have to scan the inventory so that overall the value of inventory for the company can be adjusted (which they have to do for reporting reasons).

Now, some department managers are lazier than others, so they might not get to items when they are supoosed to or update pricing like they are supposed to, but there is a centrally controlled price guidance that is given out and that is why we all generally see the same prices on the same games in the same time frame (again, leaving some variation for individual department manager action).

Which is not to say that you will not encounter some YMMV. This can happen if they stumble across something that has been opened and they re-tag it as an as-is, or they find a box of old stuff when they do their semi-annual (or even quarterly) physical inventory, etc.

So I agree the implmentation of the pricing action across stores is not 100% consistent, but there is a clear pattern of the direction is being given nationally.
I was completely shocked yesterday...as for the first time in my CAG life, I walked into a Target with no electronic clearance shelf or section. And trust me, I looked and even asked...ridiculous.
Yeah, my Target got rid of the clearance shelf where they have all the games from all the systems and such.

Now, they just have the clearanced games behind glass (PS3 clearanced games with the rest of the PS3 games, for example) with a big "Clearance" tag instead of a regular price tag.

I went last Thursday to my local Target and they had both the clearance section and marked games along with the rest of their titles.

That's not entirely true. Some employees are better than others and do them in the morning.

Went to Carlisle, PA Target today and saw

:360:
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway - $14.99
SoulCalibur IV - $14.99
The Last Remnant - $14.99
Lego Batman - $24.99
NCAA Basketball 2009 - $14.99
The Bourne Conspiracy - $29.99
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith - $19.99 (game only)
Fracture - $19.99

Haze - $9.99
Mercenaries 2 - $9.99
Fracture - $19.99
Resistance: Fall of Man - $9.99
Rock Band 2 DLC Pack 2: $9.99

The store was up to its balls in Brothers in Arms, there was one copy of SoulCalibur IV left, and 2 copies of The Last Remnant. Picked up one of the copies myself since it seemed like a bargain.

We're snowed in today, otherwise I'd go check out Target just to score Soul Calibur IV for that price, and Tomb Raider if they had it. Damn it! Some momo will probably scoff them all up before I get a chance to show up this week.

Some items I saw today (from the top of my memory, may not be 100% correct) at Hagerstown, MD:

PS3
Spiderman Web of Shadows $29.98
Guitar Hero III $12.xx (I picked one up)
Fracture $19.98
Sing It (with mics) $19.98

DS
Final Fantasy IV $19.98

Also, this isn't game related, but I did find a First Act 222 Electric Guitar starter set (includes guitar, practice amp, strap, and picks) for $37.98 (regular price $150). From what I've read, it sounds like a great starter guitar, and for $38, why not, so I picked one up. Ironically, it was in the electronics in the same area the Guitar Hero bundles were.

Was on my way to get Mercenaries 2 from BB w/RZ since Target ran out but was lucky enough to find Too Human for $9.98. Also saw Rock Revolution(not sure if that was the right name) for $9.98 and Last Remnant/Tomb Raider $30

That's not how it was explained to me by my brother who works there. He said there's no real known reason why something drops, but it's totally store related, not centrally related. That's why you see drops at some but not others, and why some drop sooner than others. It has to do with inventory, shelf space, and how long things have been sitting in that particular store from the looks of things. I don't think it has anything to do with laziness.

Just picked up:
Last Remnant
Tomb Raider Underworld
Soul Calibur IV

for $14.98 each

they also had Lock's Quest for $9.99 and bunch of other games I didn't check.

well I found where the copy of The Last Remnant ended up in my local store (maybe someone was trying to hide it among the GH games?) and it still scanned as $30 so I hid it somewhere else for myself :p

in a much better hiding spot if I do say so myself

picked up today:
too human
lego batman
endwar
2 farcry 2 (one for me & another for a fellow CAG)

also saw spiderman WoS but passed waiting for the last remnant to drop as well as tomb raider
