This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Both my Targets did not update prices today. Did they change the day they update. Mine have always updated on Mondays but they are either getting really lazy or the day changed because either all the prices change or they all stay the same.

Same thing today for me. Zero updates in prices from last week. They just took some more of the 30% games from the case and dumped them in the already overflowing clearance bin. Everything is stuck at 50%. I did check early in the day, so I am hoping they may have done it in the evening or will in the morning.

I'll be going around on the weekend to try to find Last Remnant and the Fable II LE.

End War sells for $26 at PnT?? No way.

I went to two Targets today. One on Pines and one on Miramar Pkwy.(South Fl). I saw Far Cry 2 for $14.98 as well as End War and Web of Shadows. GH3 was pegged at $13 and Fracture up to $19.99. All for PS3.

Should've got End War. Instead, I got Stranglehold(PS3) for $5 at Kmart.

EDIT: My cousin got the last Fable 2 CE for $35 at the Pines location.

do the markdowns not happen until they actually scan the game? I had taken the game to the price checker scanners

in which case I better go back and ask them to scan the one I hid yesterday since someone had hidden it before so I doubt it got scanned like it should have been
 
They don't need the actual game scanned for it to be marked down.

A few months ago I hid the last copy of a PS3 games behind some other PS3 games and it still dropped to 75% off.

36th street NW and miami ave, have some last remnants, but they're still 29.98. Let me know if you find any Fable II(s).
 
Picked up Tomb Raider: Underworld 360 for $14.98. They were pretty much cleaned out otherwise, saw Last Remnant for $14.98 and UT3 360 for $27.98 (bizarrely high) and that was about it.

The base trade in is $20.00 right now, but the PnT near me is doing 30% extra on all PS3 trades so I'll be getting $26.00 a piece. PnT will usually be miles behind Gamestop when it comes to lowering their trade in value, so if you ever find things that are relatively new on clearance at Target for sub-20, you might just want to pick them up to see what the TIV at PnT is.

The only thing they mark down on the two targets near me was fracture and I picked it up still the same price last week just glad i was able to picked up 9.98.

Picked up 2 copies each of Far Cry2 and Spider Man WoS at Jersey City NJ for 14.99 last night. They still had about 4 more WoS and 30+ FC2 when I left.

I can understand if there is some underlying logic in the way the centralized pricing logic is applied at the store level...e.g. a store has a lot of inventory left so they instruct the store to price more aggressively, but the rules of pricing are clearly centrally dictated, even if the specific implementation by store varies.

There cannot simoultaneously be a lack of a centralized strategy and also say that the stores have no control and no idea why pricing changes occurs.
 
Hmm, the chances of a Fable 2 CE hitting clearance at $14.98 are very slim. It would never happen around here.

I went today, and everything is still stuck at 50%...they had just finished updating (or not updating).

I wanted to pick up Soul Calibur IV, but when I scanned it said 'Out of System'. I got a big grin on my face only to be disappointed when scanned by the inventory gun. It came up at $41.98.
So, I asked the clerk if things don't hit much further discounts before they're taken away. She said that it varies, and sometimes items are taken away before they get any further discounts. That would explain why some items just seem to disappear while I wait for the magic $14.98 or $7.48 that everyone is always bragging about...
 
Picked up Lock's Quest for DS $9.98 at the Target at Midtown Miami.

Saw a bunch of Fractures, Endwars, and Far Cry's remaining.
 
My Target (Somerville, MA) had a big stack of Too Humans (360) at $19.98. I was waiting for the magic $10 drop, but yesterday every copy was gone! Either there's a shark in the neighborhood, or they got dumped by the store before that final drop.

They did have Fracture (360) for $9.98 and Ace Combat, uh, 6(?) for $7.49. Game only, no flightstick. A couple copies of each. Didn't want either of them, so I left 'em.

This is what happened at my target.. I picked up Too Human, came back 2 days later to check for more drops and all 10 copies of Fracture and Too Human were gone.. at first I thought it was a hoarder, but after you guys posted about stores dropping inventory, maybe it could be that?
 
Hey guys. Simple question, I know how to find the upc code and how to generate/print the upc sybol. My question is, how are you guys making the sheets with multiple upc sybols? are you copying and pasting the symbols on to the same document and if so what program are you using (i.e. word/word perfect/adobe)

And I noticed a psychlone dual ps3 charger that had ncf on the tag. it rang up 29.99 though.
 
I usually copy/paste the barcodes into word, print it out, and then take it to the store. Simple as that.

Btw, the Cleveland-area Target on 117th has Fracture (PS3/360), Last Remnant (360), and Soul Calibur IV (360) on clearance, but they weren't that clearanced yet.

Would I be able to change the color of the bar code in Word? My printer is out of black ink since my family decides to print out multiple pictures with full back background and like no color.
 
Thanks Spideymike. I only have wordperfect on this computer. The symbol gets all wonky when I paste. I'll give it a shot with word on another computer. Thanks again.

It's an image. So you would have to manipulate it with an image manipulating program (GIMP is free). I don't know Word's image editing capabilities (all I use it for is text).
 
The Atlanta area Targets are absolutely horrible. The N Druid Hills Target still had TR:U at $41.98. Ugh. I was hoping for the holy grail that is Fable 2: CE, but no luck.

I don't think any of my Targets even carried Fable 2: CE.. or they sold out rather fast.
 
Everything here in the Des Mones, IA area are still 50% off. Guess our next drop won't be till next Monday. That will be 2 weeks since the last one.

They do, but it will be less than the store credit value. I'll get $26.00 store credit which I'll use to buy games to flip on eBay for even more than that.
 
I managed to get 1 of 2 copies of Gears of War 2 LE at the Norman Target in Oklahoma a few weeks ago. I'm thinking I might try to sell the gold lancer code to get back some money. It doesn't seem worth it to keep. I'd be so happy to find Fable II or Rock Band on clearance. Right now, I'm waiting for Last Remnant to drop to $15. We do have plenty of copies of Fracture though for 20. Oh! and a copy of X-Men for the GBA for 7.48.

That's a good point, but ultimately what I was trying to get at is I don't think it's laziness that causes some store's prices to not be lowered. The same plan may apply to all stores in a higher, more national/central sense, but the pricing is triggered by factors at the local stores--or so it would seem. So the price changes might happen when the same certain criteria are met, but each store will meet those criteria at different times.

I don't think price changes come through and the manager just ignores them because he doesn't feel like changing them. The store up the street may very well just get to those pre-determined criteria sooner, that's all.

But, if the employees who price change everything don't even know how it's all calculated, I doubt we could ever figure it out.

I hurried down there and got there about 45 minutes after you posted this. By the time I got there, there was only one :360: The Last Remnant left (and I bought it).

There were three Tomb Raiders for $14.xx left, as you stated.

Nope. I looked for it, would have bought it at $14.xx if they did.
 
So I know these are YMMV... but I see a lot of clearance titles that people are finding still at regular retail behind the case (Tiger Woods 09, NHL 09, can't remember the others). My printer sucks and can't print a decent enough barcade to scan, so I can't check prices without asking which I'd rather not do since I would feel kind of dumb if the price was as marked. Maybe I need to check out some other Target's.

I didn't see it either but the employee asked me if I was going to get it since it was 15. Which is a little odd, but I was buying enough so I didn't think much of it.
 
Anyone in the Miami / Lauderdale area see Mercenaries PS3 for less than $20 or the PS2 Singstar games (Legends / ABBA / Country ) for less than $10 still left anywhere ?

Tampa, FL. The one I go to either never has any good clearances or people snatch them up before I go (likely the latter), so that was a nice surprise. I still don't understand why UT3 360 has been at $27.98 for 3 straight weeks though.
