This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

picked up Endwar bundle for 22.98, they had 2 more. I saw motorstorm pacific rift for 29.98, riddick xbox 360 still holding at 29.98, star wars force unleashed ps2 for 9.98, prince of persia ps3 19.98, naruto 3 psp still at 19.98,

Sometimes they do sometimes they don't...here in Virginia Beach area of VA we are having a huge problem with tourists ripping tags off so they can "make up" prices. If it rings up $1-$3 over what you thought it would be it's a simple coupon subtraction but lately we have had people asking for nearly 75% off and the newer employees don't feel comfortable with the situation and accept the price told to them. At the moment anything ringing up $0.00 is just not being sold and placed in the back as MIR.

It's gotten quite bad w/ 5 thefts from our Electronics section in the past 2 weeks. Me personally I have had a lady that I watched across the isle move a 75% off sign to another shelf and demand a $150 piece of luggage be rung up 75% off.

Seriously dude...people try to pull the stupidest shit and most of the time they get away from it.

PoP at $19.xx still? Wow, I found the last copy here for $15.xx more than a month ago, and I thought my Targets were slow compared to others. Did you scan it to make sure it wasn't updated?

I overheard employees near the electronics section talk about 5 Rock Band/Guitar Hero thefts in the same day by the same guy! How could they not catch him?

The stuff probably wasn't behind the glass, and he probably had an inside connection.

I had a friend in high school who lifted multiple GameCubes from Target after they took them out from behind the glass. His friend was the "security guard" for the store so they had some kind of scheme together.

On a related note, are security guards just normal Target employees? Because my Target was doing a massive re-shelf re-stock thing during the day for some reason and just about everyone in the store was putting stuff onto shelves from carts and crates, including the security guard.

Here in VA I cannot even accuse anyone of stealing let alone try to apprehend him. Most we can do is call the cops if they ever come back and of course offer the video footage to the police. Saw a story on CNN I believe of a guy running after a thief...got himself fired even though he apprehended the thief...

Some lady recently came in with her baby...put the baby in one of the store's display strollers...grabbed a 12 pack of Diet Coke and a shirt...paid for the Diet Coke and the shirt and walked out with the stroller...took nearly half a day for anyone to realize what happened. Go figure...
 
A few years back, some clerk (don't remember what kind of store it was, it might've been a convenience store or a grocery store) tackled a shoplifter and the fall killed the shoplifter. I think he had stolen cigarettes.

My friend works as Security, I've never asked him specifically, but he has mentioned that occassionally he does other work such as sweeping or picking up trash, usually around the area he's assigned to though. I've seen security putting back merchandise from what I assume are returns and stuff people leave up at the register, if this is a Target policy, its more efficient that other stores who just have a guy marking your reciepts.
 
Stallone and Schwarzenegger missed a great opportunity in the 80s to portray store security. Could you imagine how their mall cop movies would've turned out?

The real question is, would anyone have understood the dialogue? They would have been fantastic movies, though, like Demolition Man and The Running Man, two of the best futuristic movies ever.

I can't speak for Target, but I used to work for Mervyn's, which was owned by Target and shared many similar characteristics, and the security guys were employed by the company, so they were under the jurisdiction of the store manager like everyone else.

I also picked up the Endwar bundle for 22.xx, even though I don't have a PS3. I wanted a new bluetooth headset, pretty good quality. If anyone wants the game, pm me.
 
this isn't a retail specific theft story, but a theft story nontheless. a guy i used to work with at a restaurant I shall not name..he was a cook and at the end of the day he would get our largest togo glass (62 oz large, i believe) and walk around, talking to people, sipping on it. One day someone told our manager that they suspected that he was putting beer/liquor in the cup, because he was always overly suspicious of people touching/taking/throwing it away.

As it turns out he WAS stealing..but not alcohol..it was steaks! He would usually be in the kitchen by himself for quite some time between lunch/dinner shift change, so while he was alone he would load up his togo cup with all the steaks that would fit in it. Filet Mignon, Sirloin, NY Strips, Prime Rib..the whole 9 yards. He sipped the straw as an act..make it look like he was drinking water or something. They suspect he was doing it for over a year without anyone noticing.
 
Reston VA was pretty much picked over. Nothing but the usual Wii Shovel ware. There was a Fear 2 (PS3) that seemed to be stashed with the other games for $24.98.
 
The Target near me has practicality nothing on clearance. Just some copies of Motor Storm Pacific Rift for 30.00. No thanks...

I've found that the Reston store is usually a waste of time, more so than any other store in the area. I don't know why, but it always seems to get picked over before the good drops happen. A shame, because it's one of the easier stores for me to get to on my route home from work, but I've rarely found anything worthwhile there.
 
Apparently NHL 09 finally dropped after 5 weeks at $41 as there were over 10 copies on monday and now there are none.
 
that asus laptop went on clearance a while ago -- i highly doubt you'll find any left by now. They first started marking them down to 30% off on June 22nd. I know, because I bought one on that day. I did get lucky and find one at 75% off, but likely only because it was misplaced and put in a locked glass case with the dvd players.
 
The Target near Perimeter Mall, Alpharetta Georgia has 3 more End Wars w/headset(PS3) on clearance for 22.xx. I just picked up one for myself. They also had Motorstorm (PS3) for 14.xx too.

I was for once highly impressed with what my Target had, usually my local Target's clearance section is quite empty and only 30% off (ya here in this part of FL were set in the stone ages). Found:

Like I said usually my Target is craptastic, but for once I was impressed. They even added a price scanner right around the corner, so I definitely checked all prices real quick but obviously nothing was set lower. Didn't pick up anything, since I already have a bluetooth headset and played Endwar and I have Burnout (a la PSN) & MS:pR. I just hope it stays like this.
P.S.:Also they moved on from the glass cases and are now displaying the MSPR games like the music cds.

New Britain, CT / West Harford Target had *1* 50 Cent BOTS left. However, the disc was "rattling" around loosely inside. I wouldn't touch it unless it somehow dropped to $7.50 which I doubt it will.

Also one Madworld left at $22, but Amazon just had it at $20 yesterday.... so...

Hmm, if this is true, I might finally pick up Orange Box. I see them in clamshell cases in the clearence racks all the time, might need to scan it.
 
Checked both of my local Targets. The one in Cupertino was completely out of 50Cent: BotS and the Westgate Mall one had 3 copies... still priced at $29.98.
 
I just bought the tom clancy end war bluetooth pack at target for $22.48. Bought 2 actually. one for me one for a friend. Great deal concidering the headsets alone go for $50 at GS.

After giving my local fellow CAGers the chance to buy it off me, I decided to reSturn my $14.98 copy of :360: 50 Cent:BotS. Couldn't justify the money twhen for $5 more at Gamestop I could get a game I really wanted (Bionic Commando or SFIV).

I took it up to the counter to return it, she got out the box cutter and opened it! When I asked why, she said that corporate policy was to open all games to make sure the disc was still there. The frustrating part of the story is that she said it will now be sent back to the manufacturer as 'defective'.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm the cheapest of the cheap, but Orange Box is probably the only package that's actually worth full retail price. You haven't bought it yet at $20? Get on that immediately!

Did this to me as well. Did it for CDs as well as games. I can understand doing it if it looks like it's been resealed, but an obvious factory seal? What a waste.
 
In a totally non-gaming related yet awesome clearance find, I purchased a pose-able Domo plush regularly $12.99 for $3.2x today. He looks way to bad ass to pass up.
 
Just checked my nearest Target a day or two ago. Nothing great. Lots of copies of PS3 games though, their always there :lol:. Serious every time I go there's maybe one or two single 360 titles, a couple of Wii games and PC games, a handful of crap DS games, and a crap load of the same PS3 games that were they before hand plus more. PS3 titles must not move much at that store.

Saw mostly the Endwar Bundles, Tomb Raider, Madden, and a couple of other titles I can't remember. They weren't priced to great either, but I didn't bother checking them since I don't have a PS3.
