This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Did finally get the Guitar Hero world tour 2 guitar bundle fir 22.48 though. woooo!
Wow that is a true cag, maybe too much so. I have it for xbox and paid $60 when it came out. Would buy again for ps3 for $15 easily and play thru it. It's that good.

Alot of the games here seemed to clear out....

Either Target got rid of them or they sold during labor day weekend...
Sorry, but I disagree. You have to figure out which are the better stores for clearance and get there no later than Monday afternoon. I regularly get all the clearance games I am looking for at 75% off at several stores on Los Angeles.
I guess you are the one taking all the good stuff!! Well, $7.48 for 'The Bible Game' PS2 isn't exactly what I was referring to. Games like MotorStorm and MotorStorm PR. I had to pick up 'PR' at $29.98, and hope the game will drop to 75%, but I never saw that game again at any Target since. I don't go to Target just for clearance games, I go there for everything clearance, so I'm there a lot, at least 3-4 times a week.

I do go to Target on Mondays, and in the early afternoon, and nothing. I travel from all over, from the SF Valley, Burbank/Glendale, SG Valley, and anywhere between the 605 and 405 to LB. That's a LOT of Target stores, but hardly any good titles at the 'magic' price point.

So if there's any secret you don't mind sharing (which I doubt) with local So Cal CAG, it would be nice for us to compare notes.
so you've been raiding all of geowong's targets, eh?

I say you're wrong about SOCOM, which was what geo was making his point about. He's right about socom not dropping below 50%. I checked over 10 targets in los angeles and none of those dropped socom below 50%.
Thanks for confirming SOCOM, enufs8d. Other CAG members reported SOCOM to be as low as $14.98, with multiple copies on store shelves, but in LA, we'd be lucky to see any at any price.

There are always exceptions to the rule, the Socom bundle being one. IIRC, Uncharted and Bioshock PS3 also never got to 75% off in my area of Socal but just about everything else gets there.

You might be spreading yourself to thin. I have 11 or so Targets within comfortable driving distance but I only frequent 5 or 6 of the best ones. I make a note of the stock at each "key" Target and go from there. It seems that you're wasting time on going to "dead" Targets and hoping to get lucky.

Once in a while, I will go to the other Targets or some outside "my area" but I'm basically just hoping to get lucky. IMO, there is an art to finding clearance games at 75% off at Target (regardless of population density).

Possibly, but I'm not greedy. I just grab one copy for myself and leave the rest. My strategy is pretty simple. You figure out which title you want and you find the local store that has a few of them and then you wait for the price drop to 75%. You don't drive aimlessly to every Target in Los Angeles. Most of the Targets you listed are not ones which I have had much luck at. Sometimes they don't even get the games that end up going on clearance or they sell out at higher levels. I will share one specific tip for the games that you cited. I got Motorstorm and Motorstorm PR both for 75% off at the Target in Culver City. I picked them up on the Monday afternoon of the drop. They had several copies. By Tuesday morning when I went back to buy some candy and other junk, they were sold out. Going to Target 3-4 times a week is foolish for clearance. If the game isn't there on Monday at the price you want, it won't be later in the week either. I'm sorry you aren't having better luck, but it's all about planning and being focused, not taking a shotgun approach.
Monsters vs Aliens (PS3) - $12.xx (picked it up)
I picked this up the other day at $24.98, still marked $34.98 (first time I've found a game lower than marked at my store) I haven't opened it and I'm hoping it will drop to the $14.98 mark, which is where I was able to snatch a copy of Sonic Unleashed for and the price I'd be happy with Monsters vs. Aliens for, doubt they will go much lower at my store, Sonic has been holding at $15 for a few weeks now, still one copy left, so if they drop it I may be able to get it.

Anyway, I'd love to hear if you like the game as I'm contemplating if I should keep it if I can't get the price lower. I've heard it is pretty decent and I generally like movie games, just not sure if I want to spend $25.

Thanks

Monsters vs. Aliens is worth playing if you have a little kid to play with. It's really geared towards kids. If you want it just for trophies, it's super easy for that. Either way, my opinion is that it's not worth $24.98. If you can get it at $12.48 or lower it's a good one.
Game is also on the short side.

Picked up Shaun White Snowboarding (PS3) for $10 in SE Michigan today. Last copy. Hope it's somewhat decent for that price.

I found a lone copy of Dead Space untagged sitting away from the clearance games section. Scanned it and it rang up $29.98. I've seen it at other Targets in the area for $20.98 or $14.98. It was odd since all of the other clearance games were in-line with what I've seen at other Targets and have been reported in this forum.

I saw Axe shower gel packaged with a loofah for 2.48, with a sticker on the front for 300 xbox live points. $20 worth of these babies will net you 2400 points (plus lots of axe shower gel and several loofahs) versus paying $20 for a 1600 point card. This will be a much better deal if it survives to another drop.

Was going to Best Buy today and on a whim stopped at Target near my work even though they have NEVER had a good deal clearance.

Low and behold - finally!!

Picked up (all PS3)

Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena - 9.98
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 - 7.48
Dead Space - 7.48

I scored the last copy of Riddick and GRAW2, but there were like 6 more copies of Dead Space.

They also had a bunch of copies of Monsters vs Aliens for 12.48, x-Blades for 12.48 and two of the GH:WT Guitar/Game bundles for 22.xx.

The odd thing was, there was no clearance stuff for any other system.

This was at the South Brunswick NJ Target on RT 1.

Edit: They also had a bunch of copies of the 50 Cent game for 12.48 as well...

Thanks. That is what I figured. Amazon will probably have it pretty low eventually, or someone else, so if it doesn't drop lower I will probably just return it. It would just be me playing, so I will just wait till I can find it for around $10 or so. A Best Buy near me often sells movies games for $10 (I was able to get Bolt, Meet the Robinson's and Bee Movie for $10 or less) so if Target doesn't go lower, I will keep an eye there.

Thanks!

Picked up Naruto 2 for the PSP for 5.04, traded it in to Toys R' Us, for 12.25. Had a preprinted clearance sticker as opposed to the red sticker...

Picked up

360 -

Legends of Wrestlemania $7.xx
Wanted: Weapons of Fate $12.xx
Guitar Hero World Tour Guitar Bundle $22.xx

Wii

Family Fest Circus Games 207-26-0256 $3.xx
Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader $9.xx

Plus awhole lot of axe products at 2.xx

As for Dead Space its a steal at $7.48 . I thought it was worth it at full price !
Monsters vs Aliens is a good game if you got little ones , they kids dug the movie and thus they enjoyed the game too .

I'm so envious of some of you LOL I looked at two targets today,...unless I am dying for a copy of Divas on Ice for the DS< I didnt find crap. Blades for 41.98,...pfffft. Shaun White STILL 39.99 for PS3. LA sucks LOL

Wow, I'd pick up the GH:WT Guitar bundle just so I could have another WT guitar.
Next to the RB2 guitar, the WT guitar is my next favorite.

Went to the Target in Princeton, NJ today. Was looking for GH:WT bundle for Xbox...they had one in stock but it was at $60+. The guy working there said he was waiting for it to drop to $40. He's obviously a gamer (told me he plays WoW....*shudder*) but doesn't seem to know much about the clearance stuff.

Most of the clearance games were marked but I didn't see much of interest. Street Fighter IV for Xbox was $27.
I'm with the people in the past two pages... it's hard being a CAG in SoCal, esp. with Target clearance.

hahaha, OC. Good luck! Everything is gone right away and the prices are usually double what's listed in this thread so if a game is $15 elsewhere it's $30 in when rung up. :\ There are a lot of tech savvy people in OC who find out about the deals and raid the stores buying every copy. I chase a lot of the clearance deals, but 9/10 never get them. OC sucks for CAG.

Yah i live in IE also and it blows around here. There are douche resellers all around these parts who go at opening and take anything they can make a penny reselling. When SF4 was 20 at gamestop, i went in 2 hours after opening and every store in a 50 mile radius was sold out.

How was the PS3 selection and how close to south OC is the store?

They had Bionic commando at 14 but some hoarder cleared out all the socoms , warhawks and dead spaces .

Its a little know target in north san diego county

At the Eden Prairie MN Target I saw:
XBOX 360: Wanted - $12.48 - about 6 copies
XBOX 360: Sonic the Hedgehog - $4.98 - about 8 copies

OKAY, wnet to Cuyohoga Falls (Chapel Hill) location which I knew still had Guitar Heroes. Well, the reason they have 4 of them for every system is because they are still 44$. Im gonna watch this and maybe call up this week and check back again.

I found the last copy of Legends At WrestleMania today at the Meyerland Target for $14.98. I wish I could wait for it to hit $7, but it probably would have been gone by Monday. It previously was $41.98.

I was in a target in my area and saw:
Wanted (PS3) - $12.48
50 Cent (PS3) - $12.48
MvA (PS3) - $12.48
Deadspace (PS3) - $7.48 YaY! Finally picked it up.

I have found that if I want a game at 75% off at Target I have to hide it. I am glad I hid a copy. There were 8+ copies of Deadspace when they were 14.98 and all gone before it hit 7.48.

Man, this thread is like a window into a parallel world where the Targets don't sell out of titles the moment they hit $44.98.

You fuck!

This hiding business is out of control. Target needs to keep the stuff behind the glass in 1 dedicated clearance section. I hate how Rock Band and Guitar Hero take up so much shelf space. They should leave those bundles in the back and use that space for clearance.

I'm also sick of using the target.com inventory check to see that a store on the other side of town has the game but of course it's not in the clearance section when I get there. I'll even check the inventory again the next day and it's still available. I wonder why...

Hiders please stop. You might not be stealing the games themselves, but you're causing potential customer's time and gas to be wasted for the sake of your frugality. I'm one of the possibly few people that settle for 30% and 50% off. I got Henry Hatsworth for $13.98 (30%) and Rock Band 2 for $24.98 (50%). Yes I do prefer a 75% discount but that doesn't make me want to hide the game. If the store doesn't let you hold items for weeks, then you shouldn't be doing so without them knowing. k?

Picked up Legends of Wrestlemania (360) for 14.98 from the Perrysburg, OH Target...I believe there are still 3 copies remaining.

Yeah i'll leave all the things I want out so the hoarders can pick it up and put it up on ebay for 50% or more than what they got it for.

You do realize that this is CHEAPASSGAMER.com, not Reasonablepricegamer.com or semigooddealgamer.com. Chastizing people for their frugality here is liking going to a Neo-NAZI website and complaining about all the racism.

I see your from Vegas, if it was at the Meadows Lane store, it was me who got it. Thanks, I did leave that PS3 GHWT behind for you though.

Hiding doesn't work in all stores. The Richmond area stores are really tight about managing their shelves, and I have watched others hide stuff only to see it back on the main games clearance shelf the next day. Its funny what lengths people will go to, and to know that the re-shelving policy usually thwarts folks efforts. Sure ain't no Circuit City, their stock was all over the place.

For those fussing about the hiding, keep in mind that not all this is done by CAGs. Hell, mention CAG to many gamers and they just give you blank, unknowing stares--its a conceit to believe that your competitors for the clearance games are all CAGs--plenty of soccer moms have caught onto Target's SKU management and clearance policies.

Exactly, he could have (and should have) easily bought the game, which eliminates ANY chance of someone finding it, and come back to the store 2 weeks later and price match it. Even though he is hiding it, he's not eliminating the chances of someone finding it. A lot of CAGs here say that they find hidden stuff all the time.
