This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Picked up Up on 360 for $9.98.

Saw GI Joe, GH Metallica, G-Force, SF IV, Wolverine and the Bigs 2 all on 360, all at 50%

This was at Springfield, PA.

I was un sure of this game at first. Thought that the voice command was a weak gimmick. But it does work really well :lol: and was a fun and different RTS.

I picked it up for 17.xx at game crazy and it was worth it. If you like RTS games get it :applause:

Back OT...Snagged my SFIV...much appreciated for the posts here. Saw em last week still 19.98..saw the posts about it hitting under 10 and went back to the same Target and they were dropped as well.
 
y'know what's funny...Vagisil's logo is almost the same as Valvoline.

I'm hoping me re-buying SFIV at clearance will be worth the investment for capcom's SSFIV bonus incentive.
 
Huzzah!!! My first Target clearance deal in probably a year!! I managed to get GH World Tour for Xbox 360 for 12.48. It was the last one to boot. I had been needing that one. I went into the Target for something else, and decided to check the clearance games when I saw the copy. Woot!!!!

Also, I saw that they put a few GH Metallica on clearance. I will definitely pick up one of those once they're at $12.48. I need that one also.

By the way, I'm still playing off of my GH 2 controller. It seems that they might have updated the controller for GH4/WT. Anyone know if this is the case/what was changed?

they had just gone on clearance at I think the same target i talked about above for $42 and there were about 5 of them. what were they at there? i might pick that one up when it's cheaper.

i saw endwar for pc for 3.74....in a target in pittsburg, ca

i also saw call of juarez : bound in blood for $20 or $15 for 360...
 
Nice to see Wolverine finally get clearanced.
It's still at 41.98, but hopefully it'll make it down to 14.98 some time in a months time.

I was at a Target this weekend that had two copies of Fable 2.

One was in the "value games" aisle, the other was on an endcap with a bunch of other jumbled crap several aisles down.

I'm pretty sure one of them was marked $12.50 and the other $20.XX but that doesn't sound right.
 
I finally found Wolverine(PS3) begin the clearance cycle at $41. I just won't say where, as I actually want this game.

Saw the tags for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for $15 at a couple of Targets but they were all sold out.

It might help if the site actually defined what it thought return fraud was exactly. It seems that individual moderators decide this based on their own whims.


I've only found Fable 2 at one store around me and luckily it was on clearance. I don't remember seeing any restock after the MSRP drop on this game, so I imagine it could be one of the harder ones to find.

Don't forget if you bought GH 5 it came with a coupon for $5 off GHWT or GH Metallica and doesn't expire until Jan.. You could get GHWT for $7.48 or GH Metallica for $9.98 after coupon if they last to 75% off.
 
does anyone know when target in north california starts to put there games on clearance???..at least so i'll have a chance to get something...

just like any other store, clearance in each individual target store depends on stock, how long things have been sitting around, and needing to make room. from what i can tell, individual items can go on clearance from as little as 6 months after release, maybe even sooner, to 2 years and over. it depends on how much stock they move and how much room needs to be made for new releases.

I've found the best thing to do is try to stop by once a week like is suggested in the OP. Everyday I drive by three Targets to and from work and all three clearance games at different times, sometimes months apart. One store here has a whole endcap of games that aren't clearance, but must not be on there planograms (or whatever decides where the put games in the case) and they just keep building up. Another seems to get clearances really quick, so the whole videogame section looks kinda empty.

Good luck to you, it is always fun to go to Target and find a game that is $50-60 elsewhere and buy it for $12-15.:)

I've only found Fable 2 at one store around me and luckily it was on clearance. I don't remember seeing any restock after the MSRP drop on this game, so I imagine it could be one of the harder ones to find.

picked up Tiger Woods Wii 10 w/Motion+ for $41.98 yesterday at Graceland Target in Columbus, OH. One more left after me. But the clerk who opened the locked glass door to get the bundle was glancing real hard at the leftover copy as he walked away............

It would also help, since it's a recurring problem, if it were spelled out specifically that it's not allowed in the community rules in the site FAQ. It would give something to point to when the issue comes up, so that no one thinks that anyone is just being "high and mighty" or "holier than thou" (to use the two terms that were thrown out earlier) by pointing it out.

To be fair, the Virginia version of El Hoardo ("H!") stretches down to Richmond. I tend to stop at the one on Staples Mill every week or two and I haven't seen a whole lot of late. There's an endcap that usually gets a decent amount of games so they clear a lot of stuff out. However, it's almost always gone after 1 or 2 weeks, long before it gets to be good deal time. I haven't looked too closely since it's PSP- but there's almost a whole shelf of it there this week at first drop- I bet almost all of it will be gone by the time I check it out next week. I think we have a buy-and-returner who scoops it up and brings it all back in a week or two.

I did pick up a copy of Puzzle Quest: Galactrix for $7.xx a couple of weeks ago, but that's the first time in a few months I've seen anything worth getting.

My local target has a few games mentioned by the Op that should be on clearance but those games are still behind the glass at full price. Does this mean I am just out of luck?

yup! YMMV on all Target clearance. What will really be crazy, is once you start hunting out several targets, you'll discover that clearance prices are YMMV also. Like store a may have a game for $24.xx, while you go to another store and the same title will be 12.xx. Good luck!
 
I have had ZERO luck lately with finding any worth mentioning games at my local Target (South Philly). I think the last thing I bought was Fear 2. However, I have been buying a bunch of other stuff on clearance as Christmas gifts.
 
I think this is kinda an old(er) clearance item but last Monday I found a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router for $39.98 (30% off $56.99). Not the best price but I knew it would probably come down a little more. I need a new router so it was good timing for me.

I'm gonna check and see if the price has dropped this week and get a price adjustment since it is within the 14 days of buying it. I did a search but didn't see this item mentioned in the forum.

Personally, I'd stay away, my experience with Linksys Routers has been miserable.

Linksys routers are great one you load DD-WRT on them. Linksys's firmware is terrible, I used to have to reboot at least once a week. Can't remember the last time I rebooted mine.

I'm obviously slow, but I still don't get it. Wouldn't you need to return something without a receipt to get a refund of more than what you paid? I haven't known any store to accept a return without one in years. What am I missing here?

On a more thread-related note, I got a copy of Tiger Wood 10 with Motion+ for $29.xx today in Reisterstown MD. There were at least 10 left.

That's the most obvious example, but I've seen posts deleted where it was B1G1 and people were trying to return the one to keep the freebie. Some stores consider buying merchandise and holding it until it until it gets marked down so that you can do a return/rebuy as return fraud. There is no legal definition out there for us to use, and the site hasn't spelled it out for us either. Seems inconsistent to threaten perma-banning for breaking a rule that isn't printed out clearly for us.

Here's a simple non-legal way to define it:

If you have to hide your activity, you shouldn't do it.

That is, if you aren't telling the truth:

a) hi walmart, I bought this at target but I'm gonna return it here for full price
b) i got this game for free but i'm gonna try to return it for full price

If you are up front about it: Hi target, here's my receipt. I got it at $20 but now it's $10. Will you let me return and rebuy? And if they allow it, kudos to you.

This isn't about legality, it's about being a decent human being and not a fucking loser.

If you have to protest CAGs policies on return fraud, you probably are a shady bastard.

In a way, talking about it really helps. It helps other CAGs to know who they shouldn't trade with. Because if you're the type to try to get over on a retail store, you're probably not too trustworthy to begin with.

Oh, and get Crayon Shin-chan out of your avatar. CS is cool and you're a fucking disgrace.

I think you're one of the few. It's pretty much widely agreed they're about the best routers on the public market. Regardless you could just pick up a used Linksys G and flash with DDWRT and you'll be one happy camper (for reference it can also be used as a wireless bridge with DDWRT - a GREAT substitute for the $100 M$ wireless xbox adaptor). Newegg usually has them refurbished for somewhere in the nieghborhood of $20.

i had a problem with the one i've had. it was pretty much first gen wireless n and it had all kinds of intereference issues and would up just completely dying. i think that it's a safe bet with wireless-g, but don't go for the newest technology with linksys.
 
If you have (or might get) a PSP, you might want to avoid the Linksys, as there's some kind of weird compatibility issue between them (do a Google search on "psp and linksys" for lots of info, it seems to be common problem). I have a Linksys WRT54G in the basement that I never have been able to get to work with the PSP (despite lots of playing around with port forwarding, etc.), while it has no problem connecting with the Actiontec (FiOS) router on the main floor.
