This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city and state. For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks!

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in yellow are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

Not correct - the markdown day can vary by store. It seems that Monday is the most common day. However, I have one by me that marks them down on Saturday mornings.

I forgot to mention I'm probably done going to target as well. My target moved the clearance section which had no sign and was hidden down near the book aisle over to the end of the videogames section and it now has a huge clearance sign. There was nothing good left. I'll have to stick with the Sears near me, it's the only store I can find anything good in.

Then...

Trade-in GI Joe at GS + Edge
= $15.67

So, in the end I got Broken Steel and Point Lookout for a $2.59 profit.

I do it all the time. There is no catch to it. As long as you have a receipt and are within 90 days, you should receive the amount that you paid.

anyway, just got back from one of the local targets...didnt pick anything up but i saw:

really want red faction but im gonna try and wait for a price drop. but yeah, the 5 mins that i was there a target employee walked by and dropped off some more clearance psp games but i didnt pay attention to what they were since i dont have a psp. so i think they add new stuff throughout the whole week.

I think this changes from state to state. In Memphis, a bunch of gamestop employees were arrested due to the companies trade-in policy being out of line with the states policy for pawn shops (if i remember correctly).

Basically- the employees were accused of not properly documenting the transactions when buying back "stolen" consoles from undercover cops.

It's kind of a douche thing for the police to do- but it couldn't have happened to a more deserving group of people.

They added new stuff to the one at Chapel Hill between Monday and yesterday(Friday) because when I was there Monday they didn't have Section 8 out on clearance, but they did on Friday.

I also saw on on the shelf at a different target for $49.99 but scanned at $34.98 so hopefully the
employees will neglect to put it on the clearance shelf for a few weeks so I can pick it up uber-cheap.

Also impatiently waiting for Skate 2 to drop from 27.98 to 19.98.

Hopefully this happens before Wednesday, so I can use that coupon. My store slacks on the clearancing the already-marked clearance games, so I've waited quite awhile for Red Faction to get to 19.98. Sheeeeesh. I'm shocked that Skate 2 is 9.98 at some stores while it's still sitting at 27.98 locally, though.

I took the plunge at $19.98 for Red Faction only because it just dropped this week near me and the odds of it dropping two weeks in a row are slim, and there were only a couple copies left to begin with.

Remember: the games clearance in the system, not manually by the employees. That's how I found Section 8 marked on the shelf @$49.99 when I scanned it on the scanner @$34.98

Even if they are gone, keep checking back. One Target I stalked GI Joe at I thought had been whiped out ended up stashing in the back to build up a clearance endcap. This Target normally left the clearance stuff in the cases..dont give up!

Not shocking. At $12.48 plus coupon two of those would cost about $15.XX out the door and flip to GameStop for about $15 each.

Remember you can always buy a copy and then if the price drops buy a second copy at the lower price, return the 2nd copy with the 1st receipt and viola. I did this when I bought Red Faction for PC for $30 and a week later it was $10.

They redesigned some of the gaming sections. They don't have the glass cases anymore. I found the clearance games under the new plastic cases sort of tucked away. Not sure if all stores are going this direction. Oh, and Demigod is $20 at dallas Targets
