Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.
IATCG...I know your the cheapest gamer, but the stealth mission is indeed maybe 5 minutes. You might die once or twice, but dont let that make you think it ruins one of the best video game experiences of all time. I rarely buy games but the guys at NG really know how to make a great game.
No offense, but calling a game the 'one of the best video game experiences of all time' is personal opinion and not 100% fact.

If it's anything like the original, it's probably a cyclical game with that cycle being: "explore, gunfight, explore, gunfight with some puzzle solving in between for some variety", then I'll still wait till it's $30 new or I can get someone to straight up trade in the trading forum for it, since it's not worth $60 to me.

It may be to some, but not to me, especially if that '5 minute stealth portion' ends up being repeated 5x or more.

No prob, to each his own.

Dammit, I missed out on the transformers deal. I was going to trade one or two to Amazon, maybe, but would have kept one to play also. Oh well.... Sucks that neither of the stores I hit up yesterday had either that or Wolverine for any system.

It's in one chapter and it's interspersed with climbing and exploring. There's really only one tricky part (where IO got caught).

Second, a sniper rifle fires a bullet incredibly long distances with the intention of creating such an impact that it will eliminate the target with one shot from that distance. That requires a big boom with the exception
of serious military grade silencing.

Third, what game doesn't have you doing similar things. FPSs you shoot people, football games you play football, hack n slashers you hack n slash, racing games you drive cars. There's no game where you drive a car, care for a pony, shoot people, explore, plant daisies and then ride a dinosaur one time each. It would be an eclectic clusterfuck!

If you didn't like UC1, you probably should wait until UC2 gets cheaper. Me, nowadays I only get games at $10 and under except for MW2, Dirt 2, and UC2 this year and even then I traded in games for credit to make the out of pocket much cheaper. It's all opinion, but my 2 cents is that UC2 would be worth $60 cash as was UC1. UC2 is more great stuff and even better with good mp to boot.

Damn. That sounds like a fun game right there.:D I know what the title would be too. 'Mary Kate n Ashley's Super Equine Garden Time Traveler Spy Game' Rated T so the tweens can buy that shit up.

 Seriously though, I probably will wait for UC2 to drop in price, since the first was barely worth the $20 I paid when I bought it about 2 weeks ago.

But like wrencrest said, to each their own.
why are the last few posts just a discussion about favorite games and how uncharted is tough? way to go way off topic...

i was hoping to find a list of stores or a more complete list of drops but i guess will search for transformers or wolverine on my own.
Maybe because this topic was pretty dead for a long time. Ironically now there are posts. We bumped it for some people .

OT! message to io:

io you should play through U2, easily the best game I've played this generation, one of the best ever. For that beginning stealth section you just hop over the wall on your right at the start and make a counterclockwise circle. Tell your son that and to always approach the enemy from behind and he may beat it quite easily.
I never felt like I failed that stealth part for no reason; I was "caught" once or twice, but it was for good reason. Uncharted 2 is the best game I've played this year (maybe in the past few years), in my opinion. I implore you to check it out.
Same.
Just FYI, that 'you fail if you're caught' stealth section is the only one in the game and its pretty brief. There are a couple sections later where you can be a little stealthy, but its just 'pick off a few guys with stealth until they see you, then open fire freely'.
Couldn't describe it better.

OT message to IATCG:
The GTA games and GTA clones(but not all of them) and the God of War series, though I think the first one was a bit further back than 5 years, right?

The last game like Uncharted I touched was one of the Tomb Raiders for PS2. Although, I also enjoyed Red Dead Revolver and Gun immensely.
Haven't played GoW yet. I'm surprised you'd like the latest GTA game as I found that more repetitive than Uncharted. Going by those titles I'm no closer to understanding why you didn't enjoy U1 lol. Oh well.

I'm a very complex and confusing gamer to understand, I suppose. I only really like the online portion of GTA IV, as I found the single player game to be lacking in many areas this time around. Namely, I despised the reworking of the control system. While they kept triangle for carjacking, they screwed up everything else imo.

I hated the girlfriend thing in San Andreas, so what do they do this time, they add in more gf's to choose from AND friends who call to pester you every so often.

At first I didn't like the new system for drive-bys, but just like the control scheme when driving it's grown on me now. However, the rewards system for collecting hidden packages(now 200 pigeons, I believe)is completely gone and you only get a big reward for killing all of the pigeons.

Mind you, the big reward is an attack chopper, but that's been gimped the past couple of games in comparison to the one from Vice City, which had rockets AND chain guns.

Probably by the time the next game in that series comes out I'll end up liking the rest of the crap I currently hate(cept the friends/gf thing), but they really changed wayyyyy too much in this current one.

For anyone wanting 360 Wolverine, its currently on clearance at Target for $41.98, so wait it out a few weeks and it should be available for $14.98, there are multiple copies of it at most Targets I've been to. I actually passed one up on Tuesday at BB because they only had one in a black case with no manual so I figured I'd skip that and pick up a complete one at another BB on the weekend. Snooze, lose, etc. Oh well at least I got PS3 Transformers.

Xmen: Wolverine gets $20 credit for both 360 and PS3 versions at TRU right now according to their TIV lookup thing at www.toysrustradeincenter.com .

Transformers for the PS3 and 360 get between $11 for the 360 version and $15 for the PS3 versions.

Just an FYI if you don't wanna mail in the games to Amazon.

I have to agree with his opinion! U2 is far less cyclical than the first. Instead of "explore, gunfight, gunfight with some puzzle". It's more of all of them happening at the same time. Of course there is some of each by itself, but they did a helluva job integrating them.
Thanks for the heads up on the stealth part, IO. I admit that I'm a 'run n gunner' sometimes, but in the original Uncharted I found myself trying to pick off enemies from a distance with headshots. One thing that irked me about the original was how the sniper rifle seemed to make so much noise.

You would think a sniper rifle is for discreetly taking out guys from a distance, so you don't alert the rest of them, but after taking down one guy I'd have the rest of them on my ass soon after.

Now that I know about that stealth part in Uncharted 2, it's dropped from a 'wanna get it sooner than it drops to $30 new' to a 'meh I'll get it when I get it' game.

Of course, I'm gonna read up on it a bit more and see if someone posted some YouTube videos of it, so I can see how long of a sequence it is.

Oh and BTW, for anyone looking for a possible flip to TRU for their trade-in program, that Onechanbara game for the 360 gets $12.50 there right now.

Link to trade-in page for TRU: http://www.toysrustradeincenter.com/X36/productdetails.aspx?productid=7970
The sniper rifle making loud noise helps the gameplay. It makes it so you have to deal with long range and short range enemies simultaneously and switch between your handguns and sniper rifle and grenades, maybe some dodging and melee too. It's a lot better than if you just sat there and picked everyone off because they can't hear the sniper rifle.

The required stealth section as some said is really only a couple minutes. After that you're free to use stealth if you want to or not. It is very satisfying when you can use it and not have to worry about being caught because you can then shoot it out.

J7, agreed on all points. Forgot to mention the whole gameplay balancing aspect of the sniper rifle being loud.

Back on topic, I don't think mario baseball will jump back up in price as that has been 19.99 anyway hasn't it? Or was that just the new price before all the new games got sent away?

If it's anything like the original, it's probably a cyclical game with that cycle being: "explore, gunfight, explore, gunfight with some puzzle solving in between for some variety", then I'll still wait till it's $30 new or I can get someone to straight up trade in the trading forum for it, since it's not worth $60 to me.

It may be to some, but not to me, especially if that '5 minute stealth portion' ends up being repeated 5x or more.
I haven't played my copy yet because of midterms, but I hear the game is a little more different in the cycles than uncharted 1. You could be climbing something in a tomb raider like wall or puzzle and all of a sudden you're getting shot at so you have to look over the wall and start shooting while using the wall for cover. You can get shot at during any part of this game so it really keeps you on your toes. So the cycles are much less noticeable than games like Brutal Legend and Arkham Asylum. Again, I haven't played it yet, but I know a lot about this game because they talked very very in depth about uncharted 2 on the Feedback podcast on G4TV.com.

Sorry for more off topic stuff, but I am probably going to look for mario super sluggers tomorrow.

I'm sure we all thought it was actually God posting objective fact about the game until you enlightened us with the idea that it may have been one guy's subjective opinion... like every other post ever entered on any messageboard.

Picked up Mario Super Sluggers for $9.99. Not sure if that one will stay permenant based on the quick price adjustments back up for Transformers and Wolverine.

Some price drops hitting monday.(all used)

:360::ps3:Star wars TFU 9.99
:ps3:Red faction 29.99
:360::ps3:Street Fighter 4 19.99

Star wars dropped 10 bucks, and that seems a good price, though I'm not sure how much dlc is coming in the new 40$ edition.

One of the two Blockbuster locations in Anderson, Indiana is closing and selling everything in their store. Most of the stuff they had on sale (and they didn't have a lot, the vultures had already picked most of the store clean), was marked down 10-30%, but I managed to snag Kirby Super Star Ultra for DS in absolutely great condition (no stickers on the box, instruction manual totally intact and untouched) for $17.99.

So yeah, if you've got a Blockbuster in your area that's closing, get in there early and maybe you'll snag a deal. Nothing I saw was discounted a lot, but who knows until you ask a cashier to scan something for you.

Anyone ever get up on that Red Faction yet? Thinking about snagging it in the near future.

My friends and I played the online demo for like 6 hours straight and enjoyed it a lot. I don't think the campaign is anything special. I bought it off Amazon for $15. I think $15 is about right and $29.99 is almost too much, especially if you are planning on buying modern warefare 2 at launch.

Red Faction was a blast (bad pun I know). Since most everything in the game can be blown up it never got boring to me. Crazy firefights and you can do some neat vehicle tricks. Multiplayer was OK - I was more into the solo campaign - but they had some other interesting modes where you had to destroy stuff in a variety of ways before the timer ran out. After playing this game I feel I have enough knowledge to plant explosives correctly to bring down a bridge/building/pipeline/etc :). I recommend it.

EDITED to add - for $30 I would beat the solo and play some MP then flip it on ebay for $15 to $20. Not a keeper at $30 but minimal risk if you intend to play and flip. I got it off ebay a month ago for $22 and flipped it for about the same so definitely worth it for that price.

The Blockbuster on Calumet in Valpo still has a decent amount of stuff in it, but mostly junk. The majority of 360, PS3 and Wii stuff is pretty much gone. Here's what everything is at now:

DVDs - $5/ea. or 6 for $20
VHS - 15 for $10
PS2 and GC - $6.99/ea. or 4 for $20
XBOX - $6.99/ea. or 5 for $20
PS3, 360 and Wii - $20/ea. or 2 for $30

That was according to signage. Blu-Rays are all gone. I did manage to pick up the King of Kong documentary for $2, despite signage. So I was a happy camper.

j/k ;)

I've played Red Faction: Guerrilla up to Eos Sector thus far and it's a fun, fun game. You have side missions(as jsgebo said)where you have to plant explosives to take down a building or other structure within a specified time limit. Those are just some crazy fun, though some of the other side missions(taking out EDF posts)are even more fun if done the kamikaze way.:D

What I do on those missions is I take the biggest dump truck/garbage truck I find driving around and I barrel straight through the building I'm supposed to eliminate and then just back up and pull up till it collapses or the truck is on fire and ready to explode.

The mission is done in record time and no guerrillas lose their lives in the process usually.

It's a great game and yet another good candidate for game of the year, if you ask me.

I loved RF! Especially when you unlock the thermobaric missile. You can knock down a building in a few shots. Sometimes I just carjack the EDF car with the grenade launcher thingy and do a mexican standoff when my alert level reaches red. There's also that rifle you get that disintergrates anything you shoot which is also awesome, but never enough ammo for it.
I playit on the PC and the explosions are really nice, but the slowdown on my system is terrible. That's pretty common on a lot of systems I hear and a patch should be out soon. It sucks I have to play it in windowed mode, but it's so much fun.

It appears there may be more prepack POG games on the way this week to some stores so keep an eye out for those. These are the clear-case disc-only refurbished games that all share the same barcode (no distinction on what game it is) that sell for $9.99 (this is a new SKU for them that is back to $9.99 whereas the last batch had been reduced to $6.99). During some previous sales they've had some pretty current games that are still worth buying even as disc only for that cheap. Keep in mind they are refurbished though BBV seems to have a damn fine machine compared to, say, Gamestop. In many cases it is very hard to tell and they look nearly new.

Anyway, there's a thread about it in the Deals forum which I will leave alone for now. But I intend to keep posting here. When it becomes a little more official (or at least widespread) I'll change the title and OP to mention it. As of now we have two sightings of these games and if they really got shipped to nearly all stores Tues/Weds this week you'd think we'd have heard more about it. My local store has not yet gotten any as of Tues evening, but it appears they have a new and much more clueless manager so for all I know they could be sitting there in a box she hasn't opened yet .

:ps3: Rock Revolution - $4
Wow. I actually have something to do with my 10 copies of RR!

With lots of stores closing it makes sense that there is another batch of POGs. I was at a closing store yesterday and it had alot more stuff than last week. Noticed several copies of Wolverine 360 marked 14.99 and probably 30 Resident Evil 5s that weren't there last week. Anyway, the manager volunteered that they had been receiving tons of stuff from other stores and he didn't even have enough floor space and that there was more stuff in the back. He anticipated more shipments for at least a few weeks. Maybe some are from stores they just want to shut down faster and maybe it's a way to just get rid of junk from non-closing stores as well? Hopefully, RE5 will last til around ten bucks since there's so many. Also saw band of Brothers set for $16 which is a lot cheaper than retail, but now that I have Bluray I had to pass.

I picked up both "Next Register Please" signs from one of my closing BBV's last night for .50 each. Once I get back to working in an office, you can bet one of those is going on my desk every day at lunch. :D

St. Paul Midway.

While it's not technically the closest BB to me, it's the one I'd hit first since it was right in front of the Super Target there.

The Blockbuster I usually have good luck at had a shipment out of the POGs. They had about 6 copies of CoD4 (grabbed 1), Far Cry 2, Spiderman and a few others previously mentioned. It was definitely a new shipment as this batch has a black and white insert that said the name of the game on on the front and spine. It made it much easier to search through the stack than the old clear cases. No L4D or CoD WaW.

Southfield, MI:

Was able to grab for PS3 (both used):
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - $9.99
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - $9.99
Both games had original case and manual.

The BB worker told me Transformers was mismarked at $9.99 and is really $29.99, but she would honor the mismarked price.
Star Wars was marked $19.99 but rang up at $9.99.

Didn't see much else for PS3. There was one more used copy of SW left.

Not too bad of a deal for some less than triple A titles.

Blockbuster in my area (Central Florida) had around 15-20 of the new POG (not sure how many come in a shipment). All games were for the 360: GTA4, CoD:WaW, Gears of War 2, a few 09 sports titles, Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed, Street Fighter 4, and a few others I am probably forgetting.

Went in to my local BBV because I had to return some movies anyway. No POG games and they had processed all their stuff for today already. The big new addition was 12-packs of Coke products, marked 3 for $7. I was going to go to Safeway afterwards anyway to buy some Coke (where it is $3.33 each) but I figured I might as well get it at BBV with my credit. I was the first person to buy some, apparently. And as can be expected, the promo didn't work (since they are $3.99 normally) and they had to credit me the 98 cents. But on the plus side their system didn't apply the bottle/can deposit so I ended up saving 60 cents on each one because of that - makes their price one of the best I've seen in a long time.

Of course the fact that I paid for part of it with my Rock Rev trade makes it all the sweeter ;). I am down to $3.05 in BBV credit now though. I did notice a few "new" used games that weren't there a few days ago. In particular they have a Wii Music ($9.99 - regular price and complete, not a POG). Hopefully that makes it till the next B1G1 sale. I love how people in the other thread are going in and getting all excited over the regular $9.99 and under stuff that we are all waiting for B1G1 to buy ;).

This.... Exactly. I did see some new additions to the B1G1 fodder though and the stores I visit were down to the dregs before. I fear it is probably at the expense of closing stores. One manager told me about a store that was pretty much the clearance store right now. I'll have to take a look tomorrow.

I've got a clearance store nearby and it hasn't been so great. They had 10% off video games, and it was almost just nice enough to see what their prices were on some of those games in anticipation of the next B1G1. I did grab about 10 games I knew would be a good flip a couple of weeks ago, went again about 10 days ago and there wasn't anything good. If they bumped it up to 20% then I might bite on more, but I don't think they are going to do that. It seems like the model might be to put things on an artificial sale to make it look like great prices, when in many cases you can go to a regular store and get a better deal for new merchandise instead of their used.

I was wondering if my local Blockbuster is normal or not... Because I really don't see the hype about this store at all.

Every time I've went there, I've seen nothing. They have a very small "buy pre-owned games" shelf of maybe 10 360, 15 Wii and DS, and maybe 10 PS2 games... most of them old sports games or party games, not one thing that's really worth jack crap. The stock never changes, nothing new, nothing sold.

What is the hype about?! Is it just my store that sucks? Do they sell new games or something? Because I've never seen them.

Its more or less been a dead store for a while now, even when they're doing the semi-annual B1G1 its not as good as it once was. There trade in values just aren't competitive any more which makes it less useful. I remember trading in games for $25 credit and then buying them back 6 months later for $7.50 during B1G1 sale.

You're late to the party, the glory days of Blockbuster are now over. There used to be very lucrative trade in values (e.g. they'd give $30 for games you could find on clearance at Target for $10) but that's been over for a while now. Occasionally there's a B1G1 sale which might yield some decent deals but other than that there's very little going on. They got rid of all their new games earlier this year in a big clearance sale.

Went into a Blockbuster just to see what they have lying around and got into a conversation with front desk employee .. he stated that a B1G1 free sale event will start on the last week of November and will last 2 weeks .. not sure about it but he seems very certain of this sale and the timing .. just want to give fellow CAGs the heads up on this upcoming event

The info was given to me at the Telephone Rd store (next to Kroger's) in Houston, TX

Hey IO wassup! I have been gone for a while but we always come back. ;)

Anyway, I picked up some of the POG's at my local BB/GR. I haven't looked at the surface of the discs, but you say these are refurbs. Are they not tradeable at EB/GS then?? No worries as I plan on playing these, just curious.

Yeah, as someone pointed out they pretty much got rid of all their new games about 6 months ago. They are still good for the occasional used game deal because they tend to mark certain things down really low and then often have B1G1 sales on $14.99 and under games. There are a lot of first-party Nintendo games in that price range for example.

No, why would it effect GS trade-in? The refurb job BBV does is generally very good - much better than what GS does in fact. They are almost indistinguishable from a new game - and certainly nothing that would keep you from trading them in to GS if you wanted. The only problem, of course, is the lack of cover art/manual which at some GS stores will result in a refurb fee. But YMMV on that of course.

I have considered calling around to see if other stores got these but for one thing it is always a huge hassle to explain what it is I'm talking about (half the time they will tell me they have disc-only used games and when I go in it is just their regular crappy used game selection). Then there's the credit issue - I don't have a cheap way of getting credit any more and am down to about $3. I can't really justify spending cash on any of these games for disc-only copies. I mean, I would if they were easy to find but considering it would take many phone calls followed by 20-40 mile round trip drives it hardly seems worth it. I'd like to pick up a Halo 3 since I never played it, but other than that I either have everything else or am not interested. There is the trade 2 select games, get a new one for $19.99 deal at GS that I could use for Dragon Age, but that means spending $20 at BBV then $20 more at GS and it seems like I can wait for a price drop and get it easier/cheaper later anyway.

Like I said, I have been out of the gaming scene for a while, but i seemed to remember SOME stores not taking trades that had been resurfaced. I did get some game art with 3 of the 5 I purchased yesterday, so in the future when I get tired of these, i can trade those 3 at least.

Thanks
