What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Amazon or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Blockbuster's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Most regular Blockbuster stores do not sell new hardware at all. They did a year ago or so and some may still have some of that stock, but they have stopped bringing in more to sell. They also no longer sell new games except for a few selected preorders. Regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

hope to find a few good flips as i have to buy the gf a kindle this year....thats alot of amazon credit:drool:
so fme still gets 22 for both 360/ps3 at bbv. when do they drop those tivs? just hoping its not tomorrow or tuesday...
Yep. It still gets $22 a copy, as I just traded in both of the copies I picked up today from Worst Buy after price match.;) I was told that the copies of WKC that they had behind the counter earlier will be put out tomorrow, so maybe I'll have to take a trek there and see if they're both still there close to closing tomorrow.:D

I was tempted to keep one copy of FME to play through over the next week, then dump it off on Gazelle or wherever, but I opted to dump both to BBV.

Of course now I see that it gets $31.75 in CASH on SecondSpin.com.:bomb: fuck.
Whats fme? Is this some insider flipper talk.
FME=Front Mission Evolved(aka a game that Gamestop is selling for $19.99 new and $17.99 used, while everyone else still has it for $50-60)
I didn't see Bioshock 2 or Darksiders for the 360 listed. Did they hit the 14.99 level?
BioShock 2 is definitely $14.99 for the :360:

I'm hoping to find Mario Super Sluggers and something else to go with it. My son wants that for xmas, so a $10 copy plus a free game would be very nice indeed.

Remember to check with your local store to do an inventory search for a store nearby if they don't have the game in stock. You may luck out and find a copy then for you and not have to hunt around at all the stores.

Sweet! I've already scoped out my BBV and they have all of the titles I want! Damn! I love this time of year. I'm feeling a little under the weather...I might have to take Tuesday off and rest by playing some BOGO titles.
I didn't see Bioshock 2 or Darksiders for the 360 listed. Did they hit the 14.99 level?
Darksiders for the 360 definitely qualifies. I can't remember if I saw it for $9.99 or $14.99 yesterday, but it was definitely under the threshold.

Looking forward to the sale. The thing is, I'm not even sure I want to pay $7.50 for Bioshock 2. I have yet to play the first one, which I got from BBV during a B1G1 as well. $7.50 almost still seems like too much just to add it to the pile . But I'm sure there's other stuff I will be getting. I haven't been there in so long I have no idea what they have any more.

Also, it's funny to see people talking about trading stuff to BBV. It has been so long since I've traded anything there (maybe January or so?) that I had almost forgotten they even do that! Man, what a change from 3-4 years ago when I was trading stuff in there almost daily.

Oh man, I gave my wife a Kindle for Mother's Day and she has been burning through our Amazon credit. It's scary! Those things are a massive scam ;).

I'd say Bioshock 2 is worth $7.50. Not much different from the first one, but chances are you are going to love Bioshock. Bioshock 2 only sucks in the "hey, this is just like the first one" sort of way.

Got my Wife a Kindle for Xmas as a surprise gift. We have a 10m old and another on the way any day so our "library" of books got donated to the local library...and our nice big bookshelves are in the storage room, lol. Perfect solution = Kindle!

Anyway saw some lady the other day who was a Nook fanlady trying to persuade people at Target to buy it over Kindle. What was funny is she was giving TONS of misleading and even completely false information (like there's no free books on Kindle, etc). I sighed really loudly and rolling it into a "that's suuuuuuuch bull" as I walked away.

And yeah I'll be heading over to BBV video today to scope it out. We had three but two closed and the closest other one is 25 min away and sucks.

Luckily for my my girlfriend has her own amazon account :). I've started flipping games to amazon under her account as well to keep her from spending all her money on books.

One BBV I stopped at yesterday had 22 copies of Bioshock 2 for PS3. I don't think I'm gonna have to worry about getting stabbed to get one of those lol

I'd snap up Bioshock 2 for $7.50. I've been saving up for a while... I'll be hitting up quite a few BBVs on my way to my GF's house tomorrow morning!

Too bad the Kindle isn't compatible with most library system's e-book databases. She could be reading for free. I know it doesn't work with our local Cuyahoga County Library system (I'm a librarian there) but other devices are compatible.

Are any of these games 14.99 or below;
Alpha Protocol
Borderlands
GTA Liberty City
Just Cause 2
POP Forgotten Sands
Singularity
Splinter Cell Conviction
Super Street Fighter 4

Just curious cuz those are the games i really want!

I believe Hawaiiboy confirmed these qualify:

GTA liberty city
Just Cause 2
Splinter Cell

I'm also pretty sure these qualify
POP forgotten Sands - xbox 360 (I know Wii version does for sure)

Sorry, I'm not sure about the rest. Hope this helps.

Hmm, I'd be interested in SSFIV as well, so would love a price quote on that one. If it's $14.99 or less I'd happily pair that with Mario Super Sluggers if I can find both. Admittedly probably a long shot. I think I'm not going to do any flipping this time even though I'll probably regret it later. Flipping is and has been great, but also very, very time consuming.

That it is, but it's a great feeling when you can cash out for real money by reselling stuff you buy with cheaply made credit and know you're still getting a deal while giving someone else a deal as well.:D

Are any of these games 14.99 or below;
Alpha Protocol
Borderlands
GTA Liberty City
Just Cause 2
POP Forgotten Sands
Singularity
Splinter Cell Conviction
Super Street Fighter 4
I believe Hawaiiboy confirmed these qualify:

GTA liberty city
Just Cause 2
Splinter Cell

I'm also pretty sure these qualify
POP forgotten Sands - xbox 360 (I know Wii version does for sure)

Sorry, I'm not sure about the rest. Hope this helps.
I can confirm that I saw both POP:FS and SSFIV for $9.99 yesterday at my local store.

SSFIV for $9.99? An even better match! I'm going to check out my local BBV on the way home tonight and see, with fingers crossed, if they have both, and both complete. Ok, both fingers crossed!

Street fighter 4 or SUPER street fighter 4? Which is it?
There have been conflicting reports but no confirm from HB yet.

Does anybody remember the price on the latest Ratchet game for PS3? I don't think it qualifies for the b1g1 but I was hoping someone knew.

SSFIV is definitely NOT $9.99. I believe it's $19.99 and wil check in a bit as I have to stop in at work.

I forgot I brought the price sheets home with me. SSFIV is indeed $19.99.

Ratchet and clank is also $19.99

I thought so, I saw it a while ago (maybe 2 months ago) for that price. It SHOULD drop immediately since it's been $19.99 at Target new for a while now and is now on their clearance cycle. Then again some of BBV's prices cannot be explained (like PGR4).

Just stopped at a Blockbuster here in Buffalo and noticed that about half their used games that were there last week are now missing...hope they pulled them and will be putting them back on the shelf tomorrow. Was running late so I didn't get a chance to ask an employee any questions about them.

True, I found Super Street Fighter 4 at Target four weeks ago for $9.98 and was so surprised I probably pee'd my pants a little. ;) But of course it's still 27.98 and 19.98 at some stores.

It was nice because I picked up SSFIV for 9.98 and a week later I received my $14 street fighter fightstick from Walmart:bouncy:
Just curious if anyone has called today (Monday) to confirm that the TIV for FME held.

Are there any other BBV credit builders besides FME?
Just traded in FME PS3 at BBV for 22. Should probably hold for today.

I just want to grab some DS games for kids for stocking stuffers but will look for flips along the way. I think I'll take my laptop with me, check store stock. Find a wifi hotspot and look up values.

i thought mario and sonic winter olympics ds was on the under 15 list, but 19.99 in store. doh! oh wells. i went and traded in fme at bbv bout 10 minutes ago and got 23.85 credit, they gave me the 1.85 tax as credit too, otay?

I've now price matched FIVE copies of FME to BB from GS' sale price and they kinda groaned both times since it's a $40 loss on each one for them. I'm supposed to be heading towards the other BB in my area tomorrow, so I'll try and PM another copy of it and probably end up keeping that one to play.

By the way, I asked while I was at GS today to pick up a fourth copy(that I paid CASH for:shock::bomb:) for my shipment to SecondSpin.com and they confirmed for me that the $19.99 new price is a PERMANENT price drop and that it's also discontinued in their system(like it is at BB).

Do you trust that info though IATCG? FME is showing up as being discounted in that power sale thread.

The one assistant manager at the closest store to me checked to see how many they had in stock(one sealed that I bought and the gutted display copy) and noted the discontinued status in their system after I said that it was discontinued at Best Buy.

They haven't steered me wrong yet on info. Although they did ask for my phone number when doing the transaction, since I guess that's how they're keeping track of purchases for the PowerUp card or something. It seemed a bit weird that they asked for the number instead of just asking for the card.

Thinking of flipping a copy of FME after all. Mainly just to get some credit from GS to BBV for the sale to buy games to keep. First going to stop at the local BBV on the way home tonight to scope out the scene and see if it's worth bothering with. I think it's the last BBV anywhere near me, so it's all or nothing.
Io said he would update that list soon.
Note that I already did so when I made the new thread. Pretty much all I added was the list of stuff Hawaiiboy said he had at his store. I don't have any magic complete list otherwise ;). There have been sporadic posts here and there with people "confirming" different prices but often without mentioning systems so I didn't include those. I did add Bioshock 2 for 360 though since I made the new OP.

So, yeah, the list is pretty much done, though I expect to update it frequently once the sale starts and people start reporting actual purchases.

And please, people, mention system when reporting $14.99 and under prices. I won't even bother with it unless you are crystal clear about the exact version/system.

Having said that, if I am missing anything obvious, let me know and I'll add it in now.

Is secondspin trustworthy, ie never had any problems? I've got a few games that were meant for gamestaq but it looks like that sites never reopening. Is paypal faster than asking for a check?
Is secondspin trustworthy, ie never had any problems? I've got a few games that were meant for gamestaq but it looks like that sites never reopening. Do they send a check, b/c when I add things to my cart to sell it reads "game credit."
This is gonna be my first attempt at using them. I'm trading in four of the FME's(2:360:, 2:ps3:) to them for $31.75 a copy when I only paid $21.19 a copy and it's a trade for CASH.

I'm also trading in my copy of :ps3:Enslaved to them for $25.25, which is $.25 more than I paid from Amazon 3 weeks ago for it. But since SS doesn't pay for shipping and only gives a shipping credit if you're sending in 4-5 items and even then it's only a $2.27(media rate) credit I'm losing a bit. But in the end I'm cashing out $80 in Best Buy credit for $127($129.27 if they give me the shipping credit)in CASH for the four FME's alone, so I'm happy as hell to send them the games.

I just have to double and triple check my email to make sure they didn't cancel or edit the trade order before I even bother to crack these open.

Before I forget, I saw another game to add to the :ds: list when I checked my closest store yesterday, IO.

You can add :ds: Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 to the list. It was marked $14.99 at my store, though I'm sure you may want to wait for some verification from another person before just adding it.
