Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Does anyone have any info on whether or not the Steam version of Far Cry 2 still contains SecuRom? They're not listing it under the 3rd Party DRM anymore, but a google search still showed that it had been in the Steam version at one time.
In other news, I overslept and missed out on the Sims 3 flash sale.
Sims Medieval was 90% off Australia, like $2 AUS or something.

I don't know about the rest of the packs I didn't check. Maybe they were too.

I'm betting X-COM EU will be a daily deal for 50% off at some point during the sale. It is one of the big games that have seen that level of discount at other retailers.

Whaaaat? Australia had lower prices for once?

For real? Damn, I'm sorry I missed that. i wonder if there's a chance that The Sims 3 will return as a daily? Probably not. :(

You have to figure there are a ton of people who jump on these games anyway, though. Why would they keep putting up farm simulator/train simulator/etc if the games they're choosing don't move?

God damn, these dailies are awful. The games themselves are fine, but the discounts aren't anything to write home about. I also wish CS:GO would drop to $5. I want it pretty bad, but it breaks my 75% off or bust rule.

Nothing on Steam for me so far.

Got the Bethesda pack, and Rayman Origins and Two Worlds 2 on PSN, and Syntax gifted me Penny Arcade 3.

I'm feeling fine with those purchases.

Might pick up the Still Life pack before the end of the sale.

EDIT: Didn't check the dailies. DoW Franchise is tempting....

Train games are awesome
dota 2 wasting a fucking daily deal spot... way to go valve.
Dungeon Defenders is wasting a spot too.. Everyone should just BTA for the current Humble Bundle if they want it.

Own all the dailies except for that Dota 2 pack and the new Blood Bowl (own the old one). I did grab that D&D anthology with Baluder's Gate over at GG for $10.

Nothing for me.

Wasn't sure if the DOW deal was a really good deal or a pricing mistake so I grabbed it. Had everything but a bunch of the dlc and the older games, and considering the older games were priced at $10 a piece, I feel as if I have won. Still if you want the DOW bundle I'd grab it sooner than later, as that price just seems insane to me. Though thats just all speculation on my part.

So far I've only grabbed RPG Maker VX Ace at 50% off during the flash sale yesterday, but I think that DOW bundle will get me to bite! Had always considered just getting a THQ bundle, but this avoids a whole lot of duplicates. Swell price, it seems.

It's been $40 retail and 50% off for the duration of the sale up until today so it's probably not a pricing mistake if they haven't changed it by now.

I still grabbed it the second I saw it for $10 though just in case!
Dawn of War Franchise makes me semi depressed - I spent so much more on everything in the pack throughout the last year or so.
This. I own everything in it except DoW II Retribution. I can still clearly recall getting somebody in Europe to help me get the DoW I Platinum pack for about $6 last year and thinking that I had just scored the deal of the century. Still haven't played the games. :(

Yea, I own everything but the DLC. I kinda want the Tau commander, but nothing else from the series as I can deal without skins...
The Dungeon Defenders Holiday DLC is now free. Pick it up now if you don't already have it.
and the turkey hunt DLC is still free, but it probably won't be for much longer.
Dawn of War Franchise makes me semi depressed - I spent so much more on everything in the pack throughout the last year or so.
This. I think I've paid about $40 for almost everything over the years - DoW II + Chaos was one of the first things I bought on Steam, 2.5 years ago.

Great games, great price. Can't really say I've regretted the $40, even if I haven't played much - but damn, $10 is a freaking STEAL.

I've never played RTS outside of the C&C 4 demo, but you guys are making me feel like I should grab Dawn of War.

Done. Here's hoping I don't hate it.

Oh screw you THQ and Valve, I just bought that DoW pack for $30 this past summer! And it was an awesome deal back then! :|

Dawn of War plus the first two expansions makes for a great RTS.

Wow, I think this is the first time I bought something during a Steam sale (that was actually bought on Steam).

Picked up the Dawn of War set since I've always been curious about the world it's set in. I wouldn't be surprised to see THQ cut prices on a lot more of their stuff to insane levels due to their financial issues.

Had the DoW GotY from HB, but nice to get the whole set all in one purchase. I've been waiting for Amazon to carry it or something, but this seems complete and nice to get it all together.

They'll probably put the THQ Collection on sale too from the now new normal price of 24.99.
So can anyone tell me what exactly the whole Dawn of War pack has disregarding the pointless extras?
Dawn of War I + All Xpacs
Dawn of War II + All Xpacs

I already have Warhammer Dawn of War 40000 -GOTY edition (I think from the recent THQ humble). The vast majority of this pack is Dawn of War 2 though right? Still worth snagging?

Also, always hear people talking about Dead Island and thinking about adding its daily GOTY edition to the backlog..... guess I'll go rewatch the Gametrailers review.

The pack comes with the rest of the Dawn of War games which are good, and then everything Dawn of War 2 and I really enjoyed the series. For $10 it's pretty much a steal.

DoW franchise at $10... OMG... why they do such a deal?. I already have DoW 2 + Chaos rising and DoW GOTY. Should I grab the collection? I don't know about Retribution, played last standalone during free weekend and was fun... any advise?

Just bought KoA and Grimrock... and will buy about 4 games from groupees...

So, when's the DOW Humble Bundle coming w/ ALL DOW 1 + 2 + All DLC + ALL Expansions? ;)

Damn, I already own DOW1 Gold from Retail; DOW1 GOTY Steam key from HIB (not activated); and also got DOW: Dark Crusade from Impulse LONG AGO (when Stardock owned it).
I'm missing Soulstorm period.

I already own DOW2 + Chaos Rising + Retribution.
Missing LOTS of "non-content" DLC.

Guess what? Ain't played much of ANY of those. :whistle2:X

Not sure what to do here...

EDIT:
If I buy DOW Franchise Pack from Steam, will the Steam games that I own already become extra gifts?
