Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.


Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Some guy on Slickdeals claims that he bought the packs, gifted them out, and then complained that he didn't get keys and got a refund for the games, even though he did in fact get them. That may not be it word for word, but that's about it. (my memory sucks.)

Think he is talking about the SD guys returning bundles but using most of the keys.

Well that is a pretty shitty thing to do. The keys have (or will be) revoked though, so he won't profit off of it. I hope they revoked the blue coins that he got off of the deal too.

I feel really bad for GamersGate, I really do. They lost an immense amount of money yesterday, and probably pissed a bunch of people off (non-customers, Bethesda mostly). Sure, it was their fault with their faulty system, but I still can't help but feel bad for them. Yes, even despite them taking down the IGN discount.

Keys are getting revoked? Hmm what a waste of 4hrs sitting on my butt.. So I'm guessing we are getting refunded? I guess I'm saving 30 bucks..

Oh no, I meant just for that guy. They will revoke any keys that he used because he got a refund.

It's not 100% certain that they won't revoke the keys that the rest of us have. But I feel that you (and the rest of us non-scumbags) have little to worry about.
 
Another set of underwhelming Flash sales... LIMBO... really? Can we get more HIB games up there? $5 for Condemned is a horrible deal and since it's SEGA I'm guessing lowest Alpha Protocol would go is $5... there's another purchase I would have made down the tubes. And the ever present Quantum Conundrum that'll probably be in a future Amazon bundle.

Well since the Steam sales sucked. I tried Redneck Rampage... it asks you to move using the arrow keys. You also have to hold alt to strafe. I remember it being such a great game, but arrow keys?

Thank goodness I hope karma hits all the people that did this grimy low balling ninja act. I mean its only 30 bucks for good effing games... Jesus some people are just bums sometimes. I mean seriously..really? We are all cags but c'mon that's just low. Fuxking thieves. Go die

Yeah pretty bad flash sale, and Quantum Conundrum was on a sale on Amazon about 2-3 months ago with 6 other Square Enix Games for $10.

I think there's a difference between cheap and unethical. I may not want ot pay full price for anything, but I don't steal or rob. Some people just take because they don't know how to be any other way. They've got greed in their hearts and all that Oprah stuff.

Got Condemned, it was a great game when it came out and I never got around finishing it, I think I still have my save around.

Lol, again, I'm just trying to contribute something positive to the community. And honestly, at the time, I did not know there was a GG dedicated thread (though it makes sense there is one) or I would have posted there as well. (But not on slickdeals...never a deal like that on slickdeals.)

Alpha Protocol was like $2 some time ago in spring maybe? It was a sega sale weekend and that was the headliner, so while it probably won't go that low again, it definitely has been below $5.

nice, I guess it is summer down under. But this was on sale in Summer maybe, and the UK steam had it somewhat cheaper than the States did, and some awesome CAG was purchasing copies for people in the States and selling it to us at cost. So something to keep an eye out for.

And the original GTA will start once, then crash forever. And is free from Rockstar anyways, which their copy works better than the steam copy.

Yeah seriously, thanks Neuro5i5. Due to your post in the GMG thread I was able to quickly snag the deal before the later crush.

Yeah, and that was me, being a teeny bit mean to some guy proudly proclaiming Skyrim won't go under $28 this month (two pages back it was $24).... then when seeing the GG Bethesda pack revealed that he didn't know that GG was legit. He eventually got in on the Beth pack & my ignore list. I hate the spread of bad information.

I just have this page open, but every time I get busted in Dishonored and have to reload, I refresh the page to see what's up. I consider it an efficient use of my time.
 
Just got off work and I need to catch up on the whole GG priceapocalypse. I redeemed keys for Skyrim and Oblivion this morning before work but every other game(including Rogue Warrior*ugh*) was without a key. Apparently they ran out. So, do I wait it out for my keys or contact customer service about a partial refund?

SEVERELY underrated game.

Unbalanced as hell (some skills & weapons are too powerful, while some are too weak; some bosses can be brutally tough); combat's nowhere as amazing as ME2; and it's not the best looking game...
...but I'll be damned, its decision-making elements are ASTOUNDING.

BTW - Steven Heck is AWESOME (played by Nolan North).

I subscribe to the thread, via "thread tools" at the top, then I just bookmark the subscription page. On the subscription page, as others have mentioned, you simply click the [v] character immediately to the left of the thread title, and it takes you right back where you left off.

Some if it even includes Starcraft: Battle Chest + StarCraft 2 are on there (Retail); Homeworld 1 & 2 (Retail discs).

If it was me, I would wait.

Odds are they will get more keys and the last thing you want to do is give them an excuse to revoke your keys interpreting your request as one for a full refund.

GG probably won't burn all of us, but that doesn't mean they will not burn a few of us. Or as the Japanese say the nail that sticks up will get pounded down.

Man, I've been playing too much Shogun 2.
