Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.


Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

How does Ambitions work if you have multiple Sims with careers, though? Do you just set up interactions and switch between the two just like you normally would? And do these interactions only work on the new set of careers that come with Ambitions or are you able to use these new features on the old set of careers?

Really might just say hell with it and get both Generations and Ambitions, but then I'll realize that I'm getting close to owning all of the expansions and be even more tempted to get the others.

Heard a lot of good things about FTL so I pulled the trigger. With all these humble bundles and steam sales I finally have a respectable steam library. Now if only I would get to my backlog.....

Something to do with the shadows not rendering properly. There are posts about it in the Steam forums. Just Google-Fu a bit and you'll find it.

Yep and yep. You just set them up like you were playing multiple house and queue things up. If you don't they will find their own things to do but they may not be the most productive.

The interactions are just for the new careers yes. I don't think there is much it adds to the existing ones though there may be an exception or too that I'm not immediately recalling.

So I have a Skyrim question for you all.

So I can't sneak anymore. As in my game crashed so I load up my game again and when I press the sneak button, nothing happens. I tried restarting steam, reloading my game, reloading an earlier save. I even did the verify the game cache and nothing. I play a stealthy rouge like character so this is important. Can anyone lead me in the right direction.

Did you check the key bindings? Does the button, I assume Ctrl, work in other programs?

Actually I only have one mod installed and in like the 50+ hours of Skyrim I played with the mod (it's a crafting mod), I never had any problems.
 
One more Sims 3 question for you all, what's the best stuff pack to get? I likely won't get one regardless because I install a lot of custom content, but I'm curious.
 
I am now just getting around to activating my copy of Darksiders II and the DLC that I got from that pack on Amazon the other day, and I know there is at least one DLC that I'll have a double copy of... so should I activate the season pass first? Or the invidiual DLC pieces I have keys for first? (I've already activated the base game)

Never mind. I figured it out. I'm tired, lol.

but I bought them all :lol:

Outdoor Living or High End Loft. Town Life isn't bad either. Diesel is probably the worst. Katy Perry can cause eye bleeding, but at least there is a decent amount of content in it. Local Half Price Books shop had all of 'em for $5 each this summer and I had gift cards, so I couldn't resist. To be completely honest, they all are very underwhelming (biggest one was around 300 mb, I think). Plenty of freebies out there to be had.

The Sims Store stuff is worse. You could pay a couple of dollars for a single shirt or hairdo.

That game has EA only microtransactions out the yin yang. The only reason it's still on Steam is because it's grandfathered in from before Valve changed their TOS.

Hey, virtual shirts in The Sims, on Xbox Live, and in Playstation Home are big business. There are those who pay more for virtual clothing than some people in this thread have averaged for games in the past week that were $50-$60 at launch.

For example, a bunch of the store clothes had necklaces on them (for some reason Maxis said "OH I KNOW, PUT NECKLACES ON EVERY OUTFIT"), so a custom content artist removed all the necklaces and uploaded them for anyone to download, and you don't need the original store outfits to make the content work.

Same deal with hair. A lot of people will retexture the store hair (because base game hair textures are typically quite awful) and you can download them without buying the store version of the hair.

Legal? Maybe not, but EA knows how full the Sims custom content community is. That's the reason the series has lasted so long.

True, the silly thing about that is that you can download Sims "virtual shirts" for free elsewhere, and of much higher quality. Unfortunately the Sims Store preys on people who are too computer illiterate or lazy to look around.

If you do a little bit of googling, you can find sites where you can download EVERYTHING on the Sims 3 store.

Add in the fact that you have to buy SimPoints to buy them also...yeah the Store is far worse. The new worlds they throw up there (Lucky Palms, Sunlit Tides) end up being about $40 for the gold versions. That stuff sells though. I'm actually somewhat pleased they didn't throw a SimPoint sale up for the holidays...I wouldn't have been able to resist...stupid addictive sims.

Damn, super disappointed by this sale. My No. 1 target was X-Com. Was hoping to snag it for a better price than Steam is slinging.

Is it cheaper anywhere else at the moment?
