Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Price has really dropped on RUSE. I bought it from Amazon for $5 six weeks ago and it seemed like a crazy good deal. At the time, the base price was $40. Now the base price is only $10 and the sale price is down to $2.50.

Obviously prices drop over time, but they don't usually drop from $40 to $10 in a matter of six weeks.
Ys I & II Chronicles+ finally released on steam

never played them, but that animation looks really good for late 80s games
It's a port of the PSP/DS version of the game, which was remade and touched up. ;)

The Journey Down: Chapter One is $1.74 (75% off) and nobody on my friend's list has it or wants it? Is it that bad where both Motoki and anarchyoblivion haven't bought it yet?! ;)

Looking to buy Book of Unwritten Tales and Journey Down myself. Already picked up System Shock 2 off GOG and I'll probably get the new Be Mine Bundle. This is turning out to be a pretty expensive day for games even for a cager like myself lol.
Well, at least in the trailer the two guys have loving eyes for each other?
Right. We need more Yaoi RTS games =D

It was in an IR back in early summer, it very recently got on steam, I think most of us haven't gone back to retrieve our steam keys for it yet.
So many bundles today! Is Valentines day the new "gotta release a gaming bundle" day?

I picked up Groupees at $5, which is a very solid deal. I only had Two Worlds 2, so I was happy to pay the extra $$$ to get the other great games at that tier (and an extra copy of Two Worlds 2 for a friend).

Indie Royale - I've almost given up on. While obviously Serious Sam 3 is the draw, I'm just not that interested in it. And Shad'O looks kind of lame. The whole bundle just doesn't have anywhere close to the same amount of value as what is in Groupees.

Groupees = 9 games: 7 Steam, 2 Desura = $5
Indie Royale = 6 games: 3 Steam, 3 Desura = almost $6

Indie Royale is still a great deal if you were planning on picking up Serious Sam 3 anyway and hadn't already. (and don't have an 85% off coupon on Steam)
Yeah, Groupees is a no brainer, and IR has let me down again.

Who knew that Valentines day would be a big day for bundles?

Uh, I own The Journey Down but I got it way back from an Indie Royale and then they recently gave out Steam keys. If Steam is saying I don't own it well then Steam has Alztheimers.

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting the Clockwork Man bundle. Looks like $10 for the both of them is the cheapest it has ever gotten to. *Edit: of course I could probably get it cheaper on Big Fish if I wait for a sale there.

Also damn you Amazon for making 75% off Crusader Kings II seem friggin expensive! :p
It's a port of the PSP/DS version of the game, which was remade and touched up. ;)
Technically, the PSP version was the port of the PC version which was a total remake of an older PC88 version. They also kind of mashed the two different updates of the PC remake from the late 90s/early 00s together. One has the UI frame and the other doesn't.

It was in a bundle and Steam keys were given out. I imagine a lot of people have it from that.

At the price of the new IR I still say just grabbing TSE on sale is a superior deal.

A dollar for Talisman isn't bad even if it is a kinda lousy dice roller solo version of the board game.

Party of Sin for a dollar. I'll try that.

Still got one spot left on Sniper Elite Nazi Zombies edition for $9.

Thanks for reminding me! It was in the Summer Bundle. Went back and redeemed my key. And yeah, it doesn't show that I own it or that anyone else does, so it's just a hiccup on Steam.

Weird. I just did the same. I only show Zip as having it and randomdud wanting it.

What aren't you on my friends list? It's because of the solitude and cannibalism isn't it? ^_~
Paradox never lets the 75% apply to their latest DLC. Those sneaky bastards.
Except they did let Tony bundle their latest DLC dirt ass cheap recently.

Of course then you have to rebuy the game and all the DLC you already own too.

FYI Desura keys for those who bought Cognition on Indie Gamestand are out. Check your "My Games" in your Indie Gamestand account if you got it previously.

Steam key for Journey Down is also now available at IGS for those of us who bought it there.

So I won my first "non-massive" steamgifts giveaway. It's... SNUGGLETRUCK! Tried it out for a few minutes, and omg. It's like Trials but with an extra escort mechanic. If only the physics were tightened up a little more...

The Men of War games are unbelievably hard. My friend and I played Assault Squad on normal and couldn't breach the first encampment on the tutorial mission. We changed it to Easy and beat the first mission over the course of three hours. On the second mission, we were only able to make it to the first encampment again before giving up after an hour. To this day the only achievement I have in that game is for completing the tutorial on Easy. It's really frustrating, because it has a TON of detail put into its mechanics that I would really enjoy (a tank can have its treads destroyed, but the turret will still work; it can be repaired; all enemies have specific guns with specific ammo types you can collect or ignore; and you have the ability to take direct third-person control over a single unit to go all Rambo if necessary). This is coming from someone on their second round of Dark Souls, who only ever plays and beats games on Hard.

Yep, that's what most of the reviews say. And yet I had to get the Groupees because Assault Squad was the only one left I hadn't gotten last year from an Indie Gala or BundleStars. Gotta catch 'em all?!:hot:

P.S. I haven't played any of them yet.

That might be it, although I don't really blame you for the cannibalism since I've heard pig and human are relatively similar in taste due to fat composition. Human bacon, anyone? ;)

Went through some CAG buddy lists and found you. ;) Btw, if anyone gets a friend request from "Allons-y", that's me adding random names I recognized from this thread. And no, I'm not a doctor.
Drabelincoln is actually a much bigger Secret of the Magic Crystals fan than I.

That said, why yes, I would buy this game. It looks like a mashup of Mean Girls and Secret of the Magic Crystals. SOLD!
Be sure to have your parent or guardian read the information for parents page carefully!

So what the hell is up with Origin? Months and months would go by and they never had a damned sale and suddenly now they are having them every 5 minutes and some of them are even kind of halfway decently priced (for them) even on non EA stuff.

I wonder if there was some sekrit memo about a bigger push for sales that Valve got ahold of and then quickly scanned all their groups for the keyword Origin and did a panic mass deletion. *puts on tin foil hat*

It's Valentine's day. There must be something in the water that makes one love their fellow man and give out great deals.

Certainly I wasn't expecting so many options on Valentine's Day....

I'm not sure I'd call Origin's current "deal" a "deal". It's great to see them offering discounts on non-EA games, but getting Darksiders II for $20.40 doesn't exactly come across as the best discount ever.

Maybe everyone knows this and I missed it. You can get Prey from GamesPlanet then activate the MP key through steam to get the whole package. Don't activate the SP key as it will cause a problem activating the MP key and will prevent you from activating it.

http://uk.gamesplanet.com/buy-download-pc-games/Prey-217-38.html

EDIT: It's 4.99 GBP so $7.50 US more or less. Probably not a "deal" to most people but it could be helpful for the completionist.

Crap, I just ordered a new in box copy from eBay (using eBay bucks) so that I could get the Steam key. It was only about $10, though. here (for those that would actually prefer the boxed copy)

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention it yet.. Giana Sisters is $4.08 after voucher at GMG. Good price if you missed the Steam sale.

EDIT: Seraphym told me about the deal, so she was the first to notice ;)

Now everyone will blame me when it's bundled next week. Thanks Spooder!~

Just as an FYI I've heard people say (and it seems to be true after a quick look) that all the DLC for Max Payne is for multiplayer.

Played a bit of Party of Sin earlier on. Imagine Trine but with seven characters instead of three. Seems intriguing enough but the controls feel a bit... sticky? Not sure that's the term, I think I just expected them to be a little looser. Anyways it seems alright. If you like puzzle-platformers like Trine, then you could do worse than spending a dollar to get it. (It's currently in the Be Mine Anniversary bundle for a dollar - http://groupees.com/bma)

p.s. Cool - looks like the next bonus item will be Dungeons: The Dark Lord. This is turning out to be a very useful bundle indeed.

Also completed Rogue Warrior earlier tonight. Absolutely as good/bad/sweary as everybody says it is.

Will probably pick up the Frozen Synapse Red DLC. Playing through the main campaign in co-op sounds pretty fun.

Also, trying to figure out how Auditorium got into my library. I definitely didn't buy it and it wasn't it any bundles I purchased recently. Anybody else notice this sudden addition to their library?

Does anyone know if Modern Warfare 2 supports controllers? After seeing pictures with ENB + SweetFX, I want to buy it. A google search says no but all of the results are 3+ years old so I'm hoping that they added it somewhere down the line.

It was a glitch having to do with owning RAGE. If you restart your Steam client, you should no longer have Auditorium.

I believe there is one dlc for single player? At least there is supposed to be one. Not sure though.

No, you'll still get a lvl 1 Heart Breaker!

Mine is a single barrel Hyperion. Which is fine for Maya, but not so much for our Gaige's

Figures neither of my credit cards work since it is overseas (I have to call during "normal" business hours to have them allow overseas orders). sob
