Past CAG Steam Deal Threads

Well the results are in *drumroll*

1. For the new Steam deals thread, do you want "the" dropped from the title, or should it stay?

Yes, it takes up room that could be used for sale listing 37.0% ~ 17
No, I like it the way it was 34.8% ~ 16
I don't have an opinion either way, it's only 3 characters 28.3% ~ 13

2. Should there be a dedicated Steam Sales and Steam Trading thread?

No, it's best to keep it all in one place 22.9% ~ 8
Yes, it would be easier and less confusing to keep them separate 71.4% ~ 25
Doesn't matter to me, whatever works best 5.7% ~ 2
I saw that today. $40 from Activision is what worries me the most. The games they give budget pricing to generally really deserve it.
It's sad because it's made by the same dev who made the recent Transformers games, so it SHOULD have been good. It's a shame that it will probably wind up just being rushed garbage like most other superhero games.

Me: cool they are making a deadpool game

*smiles and clicks link to game and starts trailer*

Me a few seconds in: oh this is kinda vulgar better turn it down so the wife doesn't hassle me

*turns it down and realizes the adolescent vulgarity isn't stopping and I'm more embarrassed to be watching this than anything else.*

Me: maybe gameplay will still be good and this is just bad marketing

*keeps watching waiting for gameplay and I find it equally awful.*

Me: disney is really putting this out?

*Groans at the last joke. I hang my head in shame and wonder what happened to dead pool, if I'm getting old, and when they stopped marketing games at me.*

Me: sigh

Well, that sorta always has been Deadpool's character, breaking the fourth wall and being a smartass. Add in increasing crassness in the media and it makes sense.

Kinda looks like a Saints Row 3 knockoff, but I liked SR3, so we'll see... I have very little faith in Activision, though.
I'm sorry, did you take my original post to be at your expense?

It was only mocking the form of the usual "They're just giving the game away so people will buy the DLC" post, as the FLAC version of American Nightmare's soundtrack is literally the only piece of Alan Wake content not included.
And I was mocking you mocking me mocking myself WHAT AM I MOCKING OH GOD

Don't take me seriously. I sure as hell don't.

Edit:
And I liked Alan Wake, it had a really good story. The action stuff was a bonus. The one thing I didn't like was Alan's voice actor... he sounded so, so bored and out of it at the start of the game, but by the end he's learned how to act.

Edit 2:

I saw a gameplay video somewhere, I think a preview. Basically take an average game, add Deadpool, gore, blood, humor, and there you go.

Oh wait, this is Activision putting out a $40 game. Either this PC port is fucking ungodly or the game is horrible. Carry on...

Ok, for $5 I will buy it because it's Deadpool.

And for $20 at the cheapest sale price, they will allow you to buy it, because they are Activision.

I stopped reading comics at the end of the 90s. I don't think Deadpool had broken big at that point, so I never read anything with him. Thus I was only vaguely aware of him. Watching that video was pretty much my introduction to the character. Needless to say, it was not a strong first impression.

Meh, so apparently Jack Keane doesn't come with a Steam key in that Playinjector bundle.

Deadpool is a snarky dude who was affected worse by Weapon X's tests than Wolverine was. As such, he's kind of crazy, and always wears a mask because his face is horribly mutilated from the experiments.

He's a lighter character who might say something like:

deadpool-yellow-boxes.jpg

I've always thought he was a funny character and enjoyed him in the games he happened to be in (though I'm not a huge comic buff). There are some more of his famous quotes here.

Really the entire "boobies" joke in the trailer for the new game is kinda dumb, but not horribly out of character.
Looks like a big fat PASS.
Speak for yourself, I read the Into the Dark description and was instantly sold (and it's only a buck for the bundle, sans that crappy vampire game).

"We got boobies. We got hookers. We got Zombies. We got Nazis. We got even Nazi-Zombies! We got puzzles, as this is an adventure. But this is also a shooter. And it is an RPG (at least in some special moments). This is really unique - and crazy like hell. Now with full feature movie ingame and 200% more madness!

Not too shabby reviews either, though I've never heard of any of those reviewers. Still, it must being doing something right.
So long as my steam library still exists in my nightmare, I'll be all right. ;)
It's a nightmare, remember?

Every time you attempt to start a game, you get Error 37. This is followed by a popup congratulating Bobby Kotick, the new owner of Steam, for his brilliant two-prong strategy of (1) forcing all Steam activity to be always-online, thus allowing the sale of more streaming advertising, and (b) reducing Steam's operating costs by closing down 90% of the server network.
I'm glad they're doing it and I'll probably pick it up when it's on sale, but they waited so, so long that it's got to be a sale now. It's a shame, really. I hope they don't wait this long to release Injustice on PC.
Ditto that. I'd love to have both! Hope the ports are good.
Unless they get Gordon Freeman to replace kratos in the ps3 version, pass.
I'm really glad MK 2011: Komplete is coming here (to the PC)....FINALLY.
I hope Injustice gets ported to the PC soon, too.

I don't understand why they didn't just put Injustice on PC. Porting a 2 year old game is an odd choice...I wonder if they saw how much money Alan Wake's late PC port made and they figured they'd try doing the same thing.
So Sacred 2 Gold is $5 on Amazon, is this the cheapest price so far? Any thoughts on the gameplay?
It's the cheapest. Can't comment on the game, though, as I haven't played it. I've heard it has level scaling so that might be a negative in your column if you prefer worlds with fixed level zones.

Tried to get PlayInjector to play that one "horror" game for a dollar...some reason the paypal authentication wouldn't let me sign in. I went to the main paypal site and could sign in fine......Guess a pass for me wanted to play that game!

It's not live. Bundle goes live in a day.
It's not live. Bundle goes live in a day.
Ah thanks for the clarification that game looks like a masterpiece and I must have it!
I've found that entire marketing campaign to be something of a disaster since announcement.

I get what they're trying to do, but it really isn't working.
They just can't deliver a proper Deadpool game without intelligent writing, and this trailer is utterly void of that. The entire marketing campaign works against it; even though I like Deadpool as a character, I wouldn't buy this game.

I don't think Deadpool really works on his own that well, anyway. His flavor of humor mostly plays off of dialogue, like it did in the first part of X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds). He's a popular character, but he's usually either a bad guy or paired with someone else. Now if they made an X-Men 2997 or Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe game and had some good writers, that might be pretty good...

They should have made the game starring Deadpool and Cable. Could have had coop support.

Folks at the GOG forums have said stores like GamersGate have gotten the GOG versions of games, so... there's a good chance it is.
Damn, I wish that cool dota 2 profile background wasn't going for $9, the one with two girls on it. I was so very very happy I received that background when I crafted my DOTA 2 badge. It was the only background I wanted and as you pointed out happened to be the most expensive.

Awesome. I don't play dota but they have the best art of all of these, by far.
