That's pretty much the build I have. Ultimately, it doesn't matter what you start with - other than some pre-applied stat allocations and what items/spells you start with. But you'd be shocked how quickly everything goes if you restart. You can end up getting pretty much every spell/ability/etc if you really want (but you'd be limited by your stat allocation).

I highly recommend Pyromancer for a starting player. You can indeed do sword/board with magic viable as Pyromancer. Since Pyro scales off your flame weapon thingie rather than INT, so you don't have to put any points into INT. For Pyro I recommend VIT/END (END has a softcap at 40 I think?), and enough Attunement to get spell 3-4 slots (14 for 3?) - and enough STR and DEX to wield the Drake Sword (16 and 9 I think). Pick the master key as your starter item and be sure to snag that awesome shield from the sleeping dragon since pyros start with a craptastic shield. If you want to go more melee heavy, drop a couple extra points into STR and use weapons that scale on STR. Basically that's the build I am going for, war-mage, not insignificant melee with enough magic to be able to chip-away at range. I couldn't tell you how that does at end-game, but thus far it's been pretty successful for me compared to my straight sword/board warrior toon.
You, sir, are a gent. I owe you a pint.

the best advice you'll ever get for dark souls is to not touch the drake sword. drake sword has no scaling and is useless for 85% of the game. kill the 1st merchant you meet in undead burg for a sword with S scaling in dex and can be buffed.

I hit that guy by accident so I ran away hoping he'd forget about me and we could be friends again if I engineered a rather obvious suicide.

He didn't. I had to kill him.

Got his swanky sword though!
Hey. I'm playing Hound of the Baskervilles right now. It's pretty good! I'm not one to play hidden object sort of games, but this one is maybe the best I've played. Playing on "hard" mode.
Yeah, I downloaded it yesterday and I'm already near the end, I think. For a hidden object/puzzle game it's quite decent.

The Uchigatana right? I remember that sword was a beast! I put fiery on it and that with the bleed effect just pooped on enemies and people in PvP.

Thanks... dumb question... I couldn't figure out how to "buy" it to attach it to my desura account when going through the Desura website (not on Windows)... I had to resort to using the Desura windows client. Is there some way to do that through the web interface that I'm missing?

Yes, at the bottom of the screen, under the heading "Play" there is an item labelled "Activate Key."

Thanks! I did figure that one out (nice feature). I was wondering about the case of "free for the day" 8-bit Night that Geno posted.
If you make the beefalo hat they won't attack you during mating season.
Excellent. Will have to find where the beefaloes roam in my current world to try this.

Good to know. That could also prove more useful for pyro users since dex has a small increase to casting speed, so if you pump into dex it's not useful for only the weapon it has other uses to your build.
Thanks! (Yes finally setup a fakebook account for freebies.) I didn't grab any of the bundles it was in.
Call yourself a gamer and you didn't own Defense Grid yet, shame on you kitty!

That's some serious dedication there Eldredpe. I spent a couple of months being the primary source of updating the OP last year. But I never would have bothered to itemize all the DLC for games unless we were talking about less than 3 DLC. Usually, I'd just include a note that the DLC was on sale as well, and direct people to check it out on the store page.

I'm not even sure if I should salute you or not.

Sniper ghost warrior gold is also 50% off. For those that held onto the 90% off coupon like me to be the ultimate cheap ass. It doesn't stack

Awesome! I already have Hotline Miami (Amazon/Free) and Awesomenauts (IGN Prime/Free) but I don't have any of the others. Definitely looking forward to this one - I wonder which one or ones will be in the BTA tier.

I already own Hotline Miami thanks to the Amazon Price match glitch back in January. So here's hoping that HM is the BTA game.

This bundle sure is heavy on non-games. Proteus, Little Inferno & Dear Esther aren't really games.

I'm in the same situation, got it free from Amazon. Hopefully the info is accurate, the guy (from twitter) seems at least somewhat legit.

This isn't the best Humble ever by a long shot but it's still a pretty good one I guess. Lowest I've seen for BTA was like $4.50 but I doubt that's coming back. Guess I'll settle for anything below $5. *f5 f5 f5*

I think there's a pretty good line up here - at least most of it hasn't been in indie bundles before, which is always a plus. Since I already have Hotline Miami I'll probably just pick it up for $1, since Proteus will inevitably be $2.50 (75% off) at some point and it's not really my kind of thing anyway.

I'm cool with the bundle but it just doesn't have the insane appeal of 4 or 5. Now those were amazing. This one is heavy on "art games" (which again I am ok with but many people HATE) and also has a multiplayer-only game in Awesomenauts, further limiting its value.

This is a well-reasoned review of Proteus on the Steam forums. It makes me think I need to wait for ~ $1 on it. . . , which means that like guardian_owl, no real incentive to BTA for me, because I've had several opportunities to get cheap HM, and it's just not my kind of game.

Borderlands 2 was just added to the Steam trading card beta. Good news for those of us who enjoy this sinister plot against our mental and financial well-being. The rest of you can just go on not caring.

Heh, I could tell that about Proteus just by looking at a quick video. Everything except Awesomenauts and Hotline Miami are of the 'games as art' schtick.

Thanks, that confirms my suspicions/expectations. Honestly, I'm not really excited about anything in this bundle (excluding Hotline Miami, which I owned prior), just a few things to take a poke at.
