About the Oracle Of Ages they had listed on their site as a Bonus for this bundle:

http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Gaming-Support/Question-about-Zelda-3DS-XL-Pre-Order-Bonus/m-p/728597/highlight/true#M21945

The Oracle of Ages pre-order bonus is actually only available for pre-orders of just the physical copy of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. The hardware bundle that includes the game and a 3DS XL unfortunately does not qualify. I apologize for any inconvenience that this causes.
Well, now they have also removed the wording and the picture from the page I originally linked. However, that info still remains on the main video game page. Image for proof in case it gets removed.

I too hate digital and don't know why anyone ever ops for it unless they are getting it for half the price of physical (which in this case you are). Even then you are stuck with it and it will never be worth anything. Having said this I could not resist preordering this because it's such a sharp looking machine. I just have to decide whether I'm going to keep it sealed or open it up and play it. I had an XL a few months back and really liked my launch 3ds better seems the blown image had screen door effect and the speakers weren't near as loud but the XL was more comfortable to my hands and battery lasted a bit longer so just have to decide if tradeoff is worth it.

I seriously thought about it, it looks really nice. I don't really mind digital normally, but on a portable, and since we have three XLs in the house, it is nice to be able to have physical so we can all play it.  That is, assuming my sons don't want to play the same game at the same time.  Which they always do.  Sigh.  Animal Crossing was a constant battle until we bought a second one.

Okay, I tried to do the Pre-Order on the website.  I put in my 220 bucks worth of Gift Cards I've gotten from trading, and when I was all done, it said something like "Billing Information is null or missing information" or something like that.

Are they asking for Credit Card information or a Paypal account?  Because I have neither.  I tried my Debit Card, which has Credit Card functionality, but it didn't work.  It gave me the same response.

Why would they need me to click on one of those 2 options if I've ALREADY PAID FOR IT WITH MY GIFTCARDS?  THE BALANCE WAS ZERO!!!!!!  TRANSACTION WAS DONE!!!!!

Is this one of those things that I have to rectify by getting help from an In-Store employee?  Or am I just F'd in the B?

Try using a different web browser or the mobile site (m.bestbuy.com).

I heard that eForCity brand clear 3DS XL protectors peel the paint when they're opened and closed often. How is it working out for you, is the paint job still good? Do you use any kind of protection when its closed to prevent the vertical scratches on the top screen?

You may want to contact 888bestbuy about that. Not sure why you're having issues paying with a gift card if you have enough to cover the full amount after tax.

This is my 2nd cheap crystal case for my Pika XL and I got it when it first came out. I just lifted it out of the case, again, and there are no scratches.

Because maybe I overlooked something. But if it's the normal price and doesn't come with any freebies, it's not a deal.
Welcome to Let's Make A Deal. $40 dollar game included for $20. BAM! Sell it for more, if you want physical, then pay the difference.

Regardless of how many anyone thinks they're making of these, this will, probably, be the rarest of all XLs. Nintendo has figured out, that, by making these things, actually, limited, people will buy them up faster.

Okay, good. That assures me.

Tried using a different browser, same message appeared. Here's what it said:

  • The required field for the billing address in storedValueCard payment group is either empty or null
What does that mean? What am I doing wrong? The balance is completely PAID OFF! My address has been entered in the address area, my e-mail has been entered. I used Store Pickup option, so what does it matter if I have a credit card/paypal tied up in this transaction if I can show them my ID when I pick the system up?

I've got my 25 dollar down payment in at Gamestop on the system, not too worried about missing out on this system, but I REALLY don't want to give Gamestop any of my money. Especially after that Xenoblade Chronicles debacle.

Does anyone know anything about Best Buy credit cards (since that's one of the options in the credit card field)? Is it free to sign up for one? Will having one finally bring an end to this unspeakable horror? Will there be a penalty for cancelling it immediately after receiving my system?

I don't think I've seen any of that. You really should call.

Something I found interesting, though........I used a gift card with more than enough to cover the Zelda XL w/taxes. However, the balance says zero. I'll get around to checking on that.

But did you put in Credit Card info or anything? I used both Google Chrome and IE browsers. I used 5 gift cards in the transaction, and chose Store Pickup.... Do you think if I chose "Ship to address" or whatever, it would go through? Also, I live in Oregon, where there isn't Sales Tax, do you think that effects the transaction?

Edit: Also, I chose "Check Out as Guest" just so it would be faster. Do you think that would effect anything?

There would likely be a penalty to your credit rating for opening a Best Buy credit card and then cancelling after purchase. As for why it is not working I know at least two years ago you still had to have some kind of card attached to the transaction even if paid off with Gift Cards as they need verification of your billing address which a gift card does not provide.

Nope. Nothing additional. And, store pickup should be fine.

I called BB and they told me they're keeping your GCs unless you call them. You, specifically.

What do you mean by "Keeping your GCs?"

I opened a Mybestbuy.com account, put in everything and checked out, and instead of the usual "Null" message, it went to a blank, inactive page. I'm going to call and get some answers.

Just messing with ya' to try and get you to call them.

Oh My GOD.  I called the number, jumped through hoops, they put me through to this person who was breathing into the phone and not talking.  I think she fell asleep or something, because when I said hello, she was like "eerrrrhrhhhhhghg, Best buy, how can ddrrrecccct crall?"  So I said, "I'm having problems purchasing a product on your website."  So she was like "Let mreeeee connndeeect you"

So I was on hold not too long, but the hold music was interrupted by the following cryptic message:

"Best Buy transfer menu....  Please enter your 3 digit transfer code"

WHAT THE HELL?

This is beyond ridiculous.  It's like this avalanche of mismanagement, like they don't want my money.

Compare that to Gamestop where its like "You want the new Zelda system, 25 dollar deposit"  "Cool, here's 25 bucks" ..... Launch Day.... "I'm here to pick up my system, here's money"  "Thanks for the money, here's system."  Great!  Thank you, Capitalism!

I got on the phone with a competent employee. She was asking engaging questions. "Does the gift card cover the shipping with tax" Yep, Oregon doesn't have a Sales Tax, so the balance is zero. "Do you have all of your address stuff filled out?" Yep, everything's filled out, and I'm choosing "Store Pickup."

I asked if it was because I didn't have a credit card or paypal, and she said "That shouldn't be a problem if its completely paid for...."

I then asked if I might have more luck consulting with an In-Store employee to help me out, so I'm going to go that route. If I can get a system locked down at Best Buy, I'll go that route rather than Gamestop.

If you're doing store pickup, you need a debit or credit card because they use that to verify that you're the righ person picking up the item. It's always been like that when I do it. :/

And yes they also use your ID but the card is mandatory.

The XL speakers aren't as good quality as the original and also aren't as loud. To me the XL is worth it for the added comfort + battery, but I do like the bigger size as well. People will be stuck with XLs for another 2 years, then they will announce Nintendo 3DSi and 3DSiXL. I don't like digital either, but the one benefit is that you don't have to worry about bringing the cart with you.

I'm hoping for a company to make attachable external speakers to the XL, which is what I use with my GBC and GBA for better sound quality, I am not a fan of wearing headphones.

Cancelled my preorder today in order to roll the dice that there'll be enough to get when there's a 3ds sale around black friday - seems like a lot of stores are carrying these and no one has stopped taking preorders.  If I miss my chance I miss my chance, I'll just snag a black or blue regular 3ds xl (which I suspect I'll prefer the black interior anyhow).

Couldn't you always buy and do a price match in store if there is a sale within a month of purchase? It'd basically be a return/rebuy. Several people bought their XL before the April Target sale and successfully did that.

Might be hard to do that because the MSRP is 20 bucks more than a normal 3DS XL

Did you guys try preordering it (again) in-store, or is BB truly going online-only w/ the preorders? Honestly, I'm still thinking up to this point whether or not I should just take the bite and order online...

Then again: Black Friday 2011, in my experience, had a bunch of 3DS Zelda Ocarina bundles stacked. So maybe it wouldn't be so bad to line up on the 22nd. Maybe.

Well, I was finally able to successfully pre-order a system online, but I did it in the store with the help of a Store Pick-up employee. And I paid the full 220.

Didn't use my Debit Card yet, but I showed them my ID and gave them my Billing Address and everything. I suppose the time will come when I pick it up to provide my Debit Card. Who knows.

So I want to thank everyone that has helped me out on this forum. I'm seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Even though the ordeal won't be over until I pick up that system and walk out the door with it, I'm really optimistic right now.

I've got ~$180 in Gamestop credit, but I'd rather buy this from Best Buy...

Anyone know of a way to turn that GS credit into BB credit?

No. I use gift card/s and my license.

I've read of some of you having gift card issues on bb.com.

I paid off the whole zelda bundle with my gift card.  No issues whatsoever with in store pickup.   I do have a credit card on file with my bb.com account.

Target and Walmart are now offering this bundle.

  • Best Buy
  • Newegg (sold out)
  • Toys R Us
  • Gamestop
  • Frys (sold out)
Now we just need Kmart, and that pretty much means every retailer will have this except for amazon.

Would I have to preorder in store to get the 20% off then, or can it be done online?
If you have the paid Unlocked subscription, the 20% comes off anywhere. In store, online, preorder, or pick up off the shelf. Doesn't have to be new releases either. As long as the game is not used, it is eligible.

Link to the thread about it http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/321910-best-buy-gamers-club-unlocked-changes-on-nov-10th-120-for-2-years-20-off-new-games-extends-to-current-members/

edit- Just want to add that is not a discount on systems unfortunately, just games.

Cancel a preorder and place it again to get the bonus? That seems a bit of a pain.... I'm hoping they were mistaken.
Well looking at my new order, it looks exactly the same. It doesn't list "Free download of..." anywhere, so maybe they'll just end up adding it to all purchases. Not too much of a pain though, it's easy enough to cancel and it's worth the 5 minutes for the free game if you ask me.

If I cancel an order do I lose the Reward Certificates?
No, but it'll take a day or two for their point value to be refunded back to your account (e.g., if you used a $20 certificate, 1000 points will be placed back in your account within a few days).

Not sure if you really have to reorder. I just added the game to the cart and it doesn't say anything about getting the free game. The promo says the code will come by email so I would think anyone who preorders would get it.

Just a note, this isn't just for preordering the Zelda 3DS XL bundle. You get the dl free game for preordering the game or a package with the 3DS Console and the game. So it seems you get it as long as you order the game.

FYI - GameStop is giving free dl for Oracle of Seaons.

Sorry, Cultivating mass beat my post.

Eh.. I always hesitate canceling an order. My luck, I cancel, and within the 5 minutes it takes to place another order, they "sell out."

Why not reorder first and cancel the original order then?

Canceling would be a huge pain for me.  Used $100 in certs and would need to wait for those to go back on my account before I could reorder.  With my luck, preorders would close in the days I am waiting.  I'll just take a chance with my original order since it isn't worth the hassle.

Well this worked out nicely.  I preordered the physical game at Gamestop and the bundle at Best Buy, so I'll have both Ages and Seasons!  I already sold off my digital Zelda code.  Happy days!
