About 480gbs. I don't know why, it seems kinda high for how many I have installed *shrug* Now I'll more room to install the others lmfao.

Looks like the speed is picking up though, it's only saying 5 hours now. It started at about 24/MB/s, but it's jumped to 58 now.

Edit: Annnnd were at 7 hours now.

God damn peer pressure, lol. Between your post and the number of Steam games I picked up this past week (Payday 2 and Rage will account for 50 gigs alone), I decided to jump on this:

that's a good buy, 7200rpm too.
Yeah, I'm hoping it will serve me well. Right now, I've got a 500GB that I use for basic PC functionality and I've been keeping my Steam games installed on it too because for whatever reason I convinced myself that they'll run better if they're on the same drive as Windows. I really need to look into this to see if there's any truth to it. I know smaller drives boot faster and people love their SSD's...but I'm not even going there for those prices.

Then, I've got a 2TB that I use for backups and media (streaming and whatnot). Not sure yet how I'll incorporate this 3TB drive...if I should move my OS to one of the bigger ones or pull the 2TB out and make it external. I suppose I could run all 3 internal at the same time...but that might cramp my case a bit. Ultimately, my objective was just more storage though, as I'm down to about 250GB across both drives...which is the reason I haven't installed Payday 2 yet, haha.

For what it's worth, I have my OS on a different drive, and I havent noticed any significant change in load times compared to when my Steam files were on the same drive as my OS.

Got my 3TB drive and installed it today. I managed to fit all 3 drives internally, though I did have to drill screw holes into my case's chassis for a special mounting since the only remaining slot was lined up right with my video card, and with cables, they both didn't want to fit. I guess I need a bigger case (it's full size though...just not obscenely tall I guess. I'm going to monitor my temps to make sure nothing gets too hot with all that in there. But the case is pretty airy and I've got 4 fans in there, so hopefully I'll be good.

And I've got 240GBs of Steam games to move, haha. Not quite Alan's haul, but it was taking up basically half of the drive my OS is on.

Also, not sure if you guys saw this:

http://www.bundlestars.com/all-bundles/planes-trains-and-automobiles-bundle/?utm_source=Bundle+Stars+Newsletter&utm_campaign=63049c7e84-Planes_Trains_Automobiles12_3_2013&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_3437eaaeba-63049c7e84-418827837

More simulator games. I might actually pick this one up, but Bundlestars is known to lower their prices after a week or so, so I'll wait for that. Decent bundle though.

I thought that bundle has been going for a while now, no?

Holy crap, yeah, Alan...I figured out what I missed in Gone Home. I somehow didn't see the basement key, so that was the door I didn't unlock. And then just by stumbling upon that passage at the bottom of the stairs, I was able to beat the game.

The crazy thing is, I tried just reloading my save (which starts me right before the final "note"), and then going back downstairs, but even after having the key, it won't let me open the door.

Instead of saying "locked door" like it did before, it just says "open door", but doesn't do anything. I broke the game, lol. I guess I'm going to have to replay it now to find out what the hell is in the basement. Maybe I'll try it on the Rift this time and see how creeped out I get.

Oh wait, you skipped the basement all together?  Thats weird that it's broken now. Maybe there' a noclip cheat or something? THe basement is only like 5-10 minutes of gameplay though, but arguably it's the last part of the game, so it has some "important" story beats, but it's not like you skipped 25% of the "game" or anything.

What I ended up doing was exiting out of the game because I figured "Well, if I have to start over, I'm going to try to get it working with the Rift." So, I got everything ready, then loaded up the game...and it didn't seem to be working quite right, so I was like "I'll just load up my regular save just to see if it's going to work." And it loaded me up right at that door, but this time instead of "open door" it said "unlock".

And this time it worked. No idea why. Maybe because when I first loaded the save, I was in the attic, then went down and got the basement key, then tried to go into the basement, the game was just like "I don't know what's happening..." lol.

I'll put the rest of this in spoilers just in case anyone plans on playing the game.

So, I played through the basement area (couldn't believe I was able to skip that much), and got a much better picture of everything that was going on. Without the basement, I was kind of disappointed in the game. It was a neat experience, but the ending felt abrupt. Now I know why, lol. With all those other details filled in, I think the game is easily worth $5...maybe $10. I don't know as a game itself if it's worth $20, but if you factor in that you're supporting a pretty new and interesting concept for adventure games (almost like being an early adopter), I guess it wouldn't feel like a total rip off.

I will say, if they added native Rift support, I probably would have bought it immediately even at $20. So, moving forward...games that do that are going to be tough to ignore for me. I think Gone Home was actually more of a game than Dear Esther, as there were actually things you had to figure out to progress (at least in theory...I still didn't test if you can get the attic key immediately).

And as far as interactive stories go, I thought it was great. The voice acting was well done, the sound effects were really good (the thunderstorm was actually scary...and it made me realize how fucking creepy a chair being dragged across the floor sounds), and they did a good job conveying that weird feeling of going through somebody elses stuff. I almost felt compelled to start preparing a meal with all fhat food in the refrigerator. I might go back for fun and put like milk and ketchup in the oven, lol. The lighting effects were good too. It was annoying when I'd pick up something, but I didn't have great light to read it. So, I'd either try to angle it toward the light, or just take it over to a lamp, haha. Overall, it was a pretty damn good creepy house simulator. :)

Game Informers newest issue talks about the Oculus Rift. Sadly, I've spent more time and money playing Saturday and Sunday night hockey. Working inbetween also sucks. I miss not working.

Because I now think of Nate every time I hear about the occulus rift:

GOnna play a late GM game with Brandon, but im down to play. I might be torturing myself with Dark souls, but send me a message on steam and I'll hop over.

Your Castle of Illusion game is on sale Nate. Still too much for me but Fruit Ninja for .99 and Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom for $5 I couldn't pass up.

Yeah, I saw that. It'll probably be cheaper on Steam for the Christmas sale, but I still have MS money to use...so I might as well get it on there. It's actually pretty crazy that ever since MS switched to real dollars, you start to realize what horrible prices things were before. 800 points used to seem like a deal. Now it's like "Oh, yeah...that's $10." I guess the saving grace was that you could get points for less than MSRP anyway, so it probably worked itself out. $7.49 (or 600 points) for Castle of Illusion isn't too bad though. And I actually really liked the demo. Much better than the new Ninja Turtles game, lol.

Totally forgot about NMRiH. Didnt download it before because of HD space, thanks for the reminder
Yeah, I actually had to redownload it myself because I had the old sourcemod version from before the standalone was released. I tried starting it up and was like "How come I can't get the Rift to work". And then I was like "How come there's no link to the "forum" or the "store page". And then I was like "IT'S THE WRONG ONE YOU fuckING IDIOT!" And then I made myself cry.

Wow...guess what's on Steam now in all its multiplayer glory?

Apparently, Airport Simulator 2013 was also released on Steam today. Both of them are part of the Holiday Sale for $7.49 each.

Meanwhile, that OMSI 2 bus game is like "$34.99...bitch!"

For a game with "Woodcutter Simulator" in it's title, you would think there would be more woodcutting screenshots on the store page. And by more, I mean at least 1.

Yeah, from the reviews I've read the only good part about the game is running around with the chainsaw (well, duh, lol). But people were even saying it's faster and more efficient than using the vehicles. That seems odd, but with these games, you never know. I'd feel much better about 75% off rather than 50% though.

Prob play from 9 to 11. Then not again till Sunday night.
Brandon, Rob, and I have our Madden draft tonight at exactly that timeframe, lol. Just the way things shook out. I'll be on after that...and I'll definitely be able to play Sunday night.

Yeah...so I was just playing Assetto Corsa...in the Rift...with my crappy old Logitech wheel...and I went into a turn way too fast, hit the handbrake, hit an embankment and rolled my car like 6 times, lol. It was crazy just seeing "sky...ground...sky...ground...sky..." lol. Virtual reality FTW!

On that note, what are we playing tonight?

It kinda seems like it will be inevitable that someone is going to have a heart attack or seriously hurt themselves falling out of their chair with that thing.

The craziest thing is how many people I've heard/read say that they forget that they can close their eyes. I've seen people around the internet say that, and then when my parents visited for Thanksgiving, my mom (who likes rollercoasters) had some parts where she was like "Ah...ah...ok, this is good enough." And I was like "You can close your eyes just like on a regular rollercoaster." I wonder what it is that makes people not realize that. Maybe just being caught up in how real it feels. It's interesting though.

Also, sorry about Saturday night. It just became impossible for me to play with mouse/keyboard and for some reason my Turtle Beach headset wasn't working very well. Had to miss last night because I was heading to bed after my preseason game. Wife isn't off today, so I was up nice and early with the kids.

What PC controller do you have? We were trying to figure out if it was an actual 360 controller or an off brand...because 360 controllers are basically plug and play.

This is the wired one I've got and it works great with PC. I've actually still been using it just because it's easier to keep the new wireless one synced with my Xbox (not to mention not running through batteries even more quickly than I already do).

http://www.amazon.com/Rock-Candy-Xbox-360-Controller-Pink/dp/B008U2XJP8

As for your headset, my Turtle Beach gives me some issues when connected to PC too. But I also probably overcomplicated the set up. I leave the transmitter USB constantly plugged into my 360 because it always can get power that way. Then I run an optical splitter between the 360 and PC so I don't have as much cable switching (though even that doesn't work perfect). Then, I just have to make sure I have my audio devices enabled and set up properly on the PC end...and make sure they're selected and the volume is maxed out in Steam.

Even then, I usually have to go into each game's settings and turn down the game audio so it's not overpowering the chat audio. I thought I could control game/chat audio separately on PC, but apparently Steam doesn't support that from what I read yesterday. It's a lot of tweaking on PC, but once you get it to where you like it, you should be good.
