God.fucking.Damnit.

I don't think the FIFA or Madden teams even have the balls to do this.

Still slowly getting used to it. Managed to play Dreadhalls for about 20 minutes before I got nauseous. What really messed me up where times I turn my head instead of using the right stick to look around. I forgot I'm only looking, and when I use the left to to move, my head is still turned, and I get really disoriented.
Yeah, I think that will eventually go away. It's kind of a weird thing because without the Omni treadmill or some other feasible way of moving around, you kind of have to just get a feel for when you actually want to turn your head, and when you can just rely on the controller. I've seen people do too much of both extremes. Some people will be spinning back and forth in their chair turning one way and the other. Then, other people will just sit completely still like the Rift is just a screen and only use the right stick.

I think somewhere in the middle is the right way to do it. I don't play a ton of games where you're walking around (though I am almost starting to become addicted to Dreadhalls now...once I beat it, I was just like "this is kind of fun!" lol), but I probably only look around by turning my head if I'm standing still or walking slowly. If I'm running, I probably stop moving my head and mostly rely on the right stick. It kind of becomes something you don't really notice after awhile. But in general, that's probably how I do it.

I tried out a few demos today that were more experiences than anything else. That "Dreams Before Dawn" is interesting, but holy crap did it feel long. It's like a ride...without the ride. You're just floating around through this world. It's relaxing, but a little boring. One that is similar, but most definitely not boring is Senzo Pesa. Holy crap! That one is incredible. The graphics were freaking nice too. That'll probably be my new go to when showing off the Rift to people. Definitely reccommend.

Wow....what an asshat. I like how his checking and defense are his worst attributes. No wonder the AI sucks, lol.

Hmm, the Steam resellers are wanting high 20's for it, so GS is really low.

I saw Senso the other day, but it seemed weird so I skipped it. I'll try it based on your recommendation.

Official statement from Notch on the $2.5 billion Mojang sale.

Basically...he's a hermit and doesn't want responsibility, lol. Sometimes I just wish people would stop BS'ing and say what they mean. I guess society and the media is partially to blame for that though. This is what he should have said:

"Well...this one piece of work made me more money than most people's entire families will earn over the next 100 years. So, I don't actually have to work ever again. I can just fuck around and do whatever I want...all day...every day...for the rest of my life. In short, FK THIS! I RETIRE!"

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference. Basically, Dolphins, when they realized Earth was going to get blown up, they said "So long, and thanks for all the fish" and then booked it off Earth.

Basically what Notch is doing (minus the whole Earth blowing up thing. Maybe.)

Frisky Tango said it the best I think

"I don't think Notch is that kind of guy. He's never been great dealing with the level of success his game and the fame he himself received, which means that he gets weirded out by the fandom at times and the hate just has an even worse effect on him that obviously created this situation. You can say all you want about how easy it is to deal with suddenly being incredibly wealthy and more popular than almost everybody in the industry, but that's probably a lot harder to handle when your personality isn't the type that can deal with that sort of stuff."

That's how I am. If I was rich and had fans who wanted my attention 24/7, I'd probably lose my shit and lock myself away like Bruce Wayne in TDK Rises and just have my friends/fine ass hoes flown in periodically via helicopter.

Yeah, but they're making him out to be Kurt Cobain or something, lol. Bill Gates is reclusive as hell and somehow he managed. Just seems like a cop out to me. He could have easily hired somebody to handle the business side of things. He didn't need to be the CEO of anything. He could have been Billy Madison, getting drunk poolside, chasing invisible penguins, and looking forward to nudie magazine day.

I mean, I guess he still can...but he discarded his empire. If I were a diehard Minecraft fan, I don't know if I'd feel betrayed or not. Even if "the end" was near for Minecraft, this puts a pretty emphatic stamp on it. Who knows what Microsoft has planned, but it definitely won't be the same.

So, here we are, one week after NHL 15's release, and we're spending more time talking about Oculus and Minecraft, a nearly 3 year old game that is pretty much Legos for adults.

Great job EA.

I didn't even watch the video. I just saw the preview image and imagined the player all alone at the arena, wondering why he can't play with his friends.

I love these alone videos because you can barely do that in the game. There is usually a defender there or if you get on a break away, the cpu Will eventually check you and get the puck back. That's like watching a Madden video in practice. Do practice videos even really matter?

I agree to an extent...putting a dangler/playmaker/whatever the hell they're called now 1 on 1 with the goalie is tipping the scale a bit. So, I don't think it's really a glitch...but more like "Hey, I should go cherry pick so I can get a breakaway and then do that". That's where I feel like it would get frustrating. Not really the goalie's fault. But just the thing that all the douches online are going to try to make happen.

Of course, that leads to "play with 6's" comments, and the conversation ends up at the same place it always does. More than anything, I guess to me it shows that OTP in NHL 15 is going to be the same as it always is. Again, this is as good as EA Vancouver can do.

Probably going to pass on it. Just didn't keep my interest at all. Which is sad cause I loved the first one. I can't get into this one though for some odd reason.

Thanks, Nate. While I did buy it, I haven't even played the first Horizon aside from the demo. Destiny and Madden, man. Gonna download that demo for Horizon 2 anyway to see how it compares to Forza 5.

Holy crap! The cross country races in Horizon 2 are incredible. Just seriously tearing up everything, lol. I still don't love the Euro setting (it's just not the same unless I'm delivering heavy machinery)...but to me, Horizon driving is the most fun driving in a game ever.

It's realistic but not to the point of being annoying. You can still oversteer and spin out...but you can also start to lose control and rein it back in. If this were on PC with the Rift...I'd probably never be heard from again, haha. So damn good.

Looks like Horizon 2 is already up for pre-downloading as well if you buy it digitally.

Also, saw an article saying they finally added Steamworks into Borderlands so the online for that is back up and running.

Here's something interesting. I accidentally booted up the NHL 15 early access and it told me I still had less than 5 hours left (which is true, I didn't bother finishing that out). I was then able to play a game of NHL 15. Very weird.

Yeah, I think you get to use the full 6 hours no matter what. I'm proud to say I never downloaded the game, lol. My foray into "EA Access" was getting Madden early and a $0.50 discount on that booster pack thing for MUT. Woowee...glad I spent that $5.

In the list of fixes for 9.3X they list what is coming in alpha 10.  They are adding buff effects to items that will allow thing like flaming arrows.

They say it is a few weeks out.

Yup, and it's a mobile game also. For Shame EA, FOR SHAME!!

I also hate Ice Tilt. I was up by 5 yesterday and my AI and Goalie decided to take a shit. 3rd period he scored 7. My goalie is at a 90 rating and my team is full of 90s. I couldn't even get the puck past his AI in the third. So, fuck ice tilt.

Wow...I can't believe 2K is actually doing that. That tells you they are at least thinking about hockey again. God...I wish we could at least get that on PC. That would be amazing. I almost want to buy it just on principle though...and to help boost sales to maybe get them back into the console market.

Also...LMAO at that goal "celebration". Looking forward to EA's video reenacting it. Next gen power...same old bugs and glitches.

While I'm sure not much info has really been revealed, that just seems like an article written by somebody who doesn't know much about PC gaming. So, the new prototype has a better framerate... I'm assuming he means it has a higher refresh rate...which just means it's CAPABLE of a better/higher framerate. But it also means it needs an even more beastly PC to run it. Same with higher resolution. The thing is just getting more and more niche.

I also loathe the integrated audio...and so will the general population. People pay absurd amounts for 7.1 surround sound, 3D, make me a sandwich headsets and are not going to want to use whatever Oculus puts into this. It's either going to be crap or it's going to make the Rift cost more. From the photo, it kind of looks like the headphones can detach...but still unnecessary cost. Let people choose if they want to use $1 headphones or $400 headphones.

I don't know if this is Facebook influence or if we're starting to see that big corporation BS of "Who cares if it works perfectly??? Just make another one!" but I'll probably sit tight with the DK2 for awhile. When it works properly, the DK2 is mostly perfect. But since they changed how it renders, there's still a lot of work to do in getting games functioning right. There's no point in "better and better" if it only halfway works.

Unless they're making major breakthroughs with rendering and latency (which are the actual important things for good VR), it kind of feels like they're getting to a point where they're just adding fluff.

Here's an article with more info.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2686207/oculus-announces-tk.html

You can "move the headphones out of the way"...from the picture it looks like they can swing up and maybe attach somehow. Still, an unnecessary cost that is going to drive the price up.

Also, 90hz...but the resolution I'm confused about. They say at least 1K per eye. Stupid "4K" resolution mucked up the way everybody talks about resolution. Before, it was always talked about in terms of the height. 1080p is 1920 x 1080. But 4K is 3840 x 2160...which is only twice as much as 1080p, despite the stupid branding that makes it seem like it's 4 times better.

So, 1K per eye...could mean 1080p resolution if they're considering width (like 4K does)...or it could mean 4K resolution if they're considering height...like it used to be done. It could also be something in between like 2560 x 1440...which a lot of people were hoping for.

But yeah...90fps at 1440p. Good luck. I would wager many games will need you to have 2 video cards to pull that off.
