40 two-part mini series AND a nine issue weekly to tie it all in? Go fuck yourself, DC.
Yep, I have a strong feign this will be the first crossover I skip in as far back as I remember. I think the last event I skipped completely was Annihilation, other than that I believe I've bought at least the main line for every crossover for the last 12 years.

Watched most first episode of the 1990 Flash. Shipp is a manlier Barry Allen, and if you'd stared at his chest, you'd swoon. I didn't like the Iris character and felt she was mistyped, not so much miscast. She's some kind of artist, not a Lois Lane clone, and not that hot as the comics and current tv show purports her to be. I like Dr. McGee a lot more.

They quickly got to the fact that Barry eats a lot (after the scene that his co-worker says he doesn't eat and is a workaholic), and is he such a pig!

I forgot that the actress who plays Dr. McGee is played by Corbin Bersen's wife! Cool.

Anybody excited about Marvel's Secret Wars and DC Comics' 40 2-part mini-series that will accompany their Convergence event?

Convergence, sure.I'm excited about it, but mostly because (so far as I recall) every normal monthly DC comic is taking 2 months off for Convergence to happen. So, I'll happily pick and choose which Multiverses/mini-series I'll follow and what I'll ignore, hopefully saving a bit of money after all is said and done.

Plus for me, the heavier emphasis on their mulitple universes is what got me to latch onto DC in the first place, I just think that stuff is a ton of fun.

I couldn't care less about Marvel these days, although I am enjoying Deadpool immensely. I never thought he'd be at war with vampires, or that it would be so fun to read about. Shiklah has been a great adition to the book, too. Been playing catch-up while house/dog-sitting for my brother, and I just finished Deadpool #33.

Ah, 90's Flash. I'm up to the last couple of episodes myself, watching it off and on over the past year. Iris doesn't even factor into the show at all aside from the first two episodes, if I recall. She gets benched pretty quickly. I'm looking forward to Tina (played by the same actress!) showing up on the new series, even if the character won't be exactly the same.

90's Flash with always be the definitive Flash for me. With such a badass theme, no one can argue against this. Too bad it only lasted one season. :(

I had such a crush on Amanda Pays when I was a kid...

I'm kind of confused with Superior Spider-Man

I was excited they were continuing Doc Ock's story line from when he was travelling through time and the whole start of the Spider-Verse thing, but they just kind of stopped. Looking online there seems to be no next issue plan.

So it just ends with Doc Ock getting together some Spider people to fight Karn and start their first fight. Is it going to ever tell what happened to get Doc Ock home, what happened to Karn, and if Doc Ock was no longer in charge how did the Spider people survive against Karn, etc.

Just from reading the Spider-Verse comics it feels like they changed their minds or something. Superior has Doc Ock collecting the Spider folks, but Spider-Verse has British Spider-Man being in charge collecting everyone.

I finally read the coverless copy of Where Monsters Dwell, with the reprint of the first appearance of Groot (or at least his father). Man that was so easy to kill him.

Does anybody know if there are collections of Tales to Astonish and like titles? I loved reading the Steve Ditko rendition of Pygmalion. And the one about the impossibility of Time Travel was very Twilight Zone-like.

It's because what they plan to do is have the Spiders break up into teams and at the end Peter will meet up with Spidey Ock for the big finale.

I do enjoy Spider Ock, so I would not be opposed to this. It just seems like British-Spidy is now suddnely in charge instead of the Superior, so I was wondering they just wrote Doc Ock out. Especially after the weird ending point of the 2 extra Superior Spider-Man issues.

Wow. God Is Dead is REALLY good.
Ehhhhhhhhh... I Don't know about that. Hickman did the layout's, but the overall writing and especially the art do nothing for me.

Also I don't know what to make of Constantine. The mystery of the week does nothing for me and I want to watch more of it to see how they'll do the lesser known supernatural or even Vertigo aspects of the DC Universe on TV, but it feels like it'll be a long ways before we get there.

DC has a "Map of the Multiverse" up on their website.

http://www.dccomics.com/blog/2014/08/18/the-map-of-the-multiverse

Have they revealed which "world" the post-Crisis/pre-Flashpoint universe is? I haven't been following comics lately, but I did see in one of the promotional images that there was a panel that is clearly from that universe, showing Hal as Parallax, Steel's old armor, Aquaman with the long hair and hook, and Jean-Paul as Batman.

As a matter of fact, now that I think about it, I do believe all of the panels in the promotional image are of worlds from the old multiverse. Are there 2 multiverses? Mind = blown.

Upon even further review, the panel depicting the "reverse" Earth is actually the pre-Crisis Earth-Three. Confused...

I love the show, personally. It is getting abysmal ratings though, and TVbythenumbers is predicting it'll get canceled. That'll be my biggest disappointment of the year if it happens, because I know Del Toro's Justice League Dark movie is never going to happen. They really needed the first several episodes to be exciting. Pilot was good, second episode was okay, this last one started well... Supernatural did a lot of good things with crossroad demons, after all... but other than Papa Midnight's intro and the Sex Pistols scene, it wasn't that great.

But I'll always prefer "monster of the week" shows to a serialized story, so while the show is obviously slowly building to an overarching story, I'm glad they're doing done-in-ones. At least then, if there's a stinker, the next episode could still have a good story... whereas if they commit to a serialized story that turns to shit, the series is screwed. Although Supernatural jumped the shark ages ago but is still around, and TWD gets 18 million viewers, so shit seems to be in high demand.

But don't mind me. I'm just really bitter.

I'm not a fan of Constantine. I think Matt Ryan and his bodyguard are great, but I don't feel like adding another Supernatural clone to my rotation. Besides, I don't even like David Goyer's works anyway, so I had low expectations to start with. NBC should've made it a 13 episode series. If only someone as nuts as Bryan Fuller could take on this show. My god that would be awesome.

This is one of the many reasons I can't get into DC that much. While Marvel isn't a saint when it comes to huge retcons it just seems that they don't have as many of the "UNIVERSE WIDE ALTERING EVENTS" that seems to retcon 90% of the last 3/10/15 years of stuff. I mean shit, the New 52, assuming this wipes it out, lasted like 4 years? Jesus. Of course Marvel looks to be doing something similar anyway so that should be fun to see how much they destroy as well. Honestly the super hero books really are getting old for me. My Image pull list is getting larger all the time and the other brands I've been pulling things in as well.

I mostly jumped into following DC stuff on a monthly basis at the beginning of thew New 52. Before that I had only pretty much read Batman tpbs and collections that I picked up off of recommendation lists online -- like Killing Joke, Death in the Family, Knightfall, Man Who Laughed, Hush, etc.

So I for the most part have no idea what that article is talking about. Is the original universe living under a dome smewhere? It references spending time in a dome a few times in the article. Perhaps they are all in that Stephen King book.

Are they going to just erase the New 52 and go back to the old continuinity? or some kind of combination like keep Swamp Thing and Animal Man but go back to other whatevers.

I've tried following some of DC's big crossover events that last few years and they seem to fall flat - Forever Evil, Future's End, and even Death of the Family

Onto the current state of Marvel - I'm not really liking most of the Axis stuff. Seeing the Avengers and X-Men act like turds hasn't been that interesting. Carnage trying to be like Spider-Man has been the best part.

I guess they decided to quickly move forward with the the Evan being the new Apocalypse idea. Since he suddenly grew 8 feet and they decided to dig out the originals Apocalypse's outfit somewhere. The big "A" on his belt buckle is pretty funny looking in this day and age.

I will say that seeing Stark relapse was kind of funny. I guess in the future we will be seeing him attendsome Friends of Bill W Meetings.

It was recently revealed that Brainiac has been jumping to different universes and bottling their most prominent heroes and villains Kandor-style, so I think it's just referencing the fact that the pre-N52 universe was given the same treatment sometime following Flashpoint.

I've been fairly excited by the idea of seeing the old continuity again (despite only jumping into DC big-time because of the New 52), but all of those descriptions/previews look and sound underwhelming. Batman & Robin will be a must-buy for me, and Flash would be a MAYBE in the hopes that good sales would convince DC to let old Wally stick around. Otherwise... yeah, the art isn't that great and the stories sound uninteresting. It's great seeing Harley in her old duds, though.

I Agree with all of this. I'm amazed at the diverse and fantastic titles Image has still. Plus I can drop all of Marvel and DC stuff and be just fine as long as I got the best superhero comic book in the universe, Invincible.

Yeah on Grodd. So sad what happened to that poor woman. Man Harrison Wells went straight up evil outside of an epilogue.

I forgot Eiling was this guy:

I really haven't been digging Arrow all that much this season, other than the premiere, Routh's various appearances and smaller moments like the boxing glove arrow. The last three or four episodes have taken some patience to watch. Those promo images of Laurel as Black Canary have done little to give me a whole lot of hope for the second half, and it remains to be seen if Ra's will be done justice.

I just feel like season 2 of Arrow was superior around this time, and didn't really have too many downsides other than some meandering with Slade for a little while in the second half. I'm hoping season 3 picks up some steam, especially in regards to the flashbacks. Katana is so underutilized as of now.

Flash, meanwhile, has just been a really fun show to watch. Even some of the action scenes that aren't staged all that well are still pretty cool, and it's impossible not to smile when Jesse Martin and Grant Gustin have scenes together, plus the S.T.A.R. Labs crew all have pretty good chemistry. The only real downsides to me are: the amount of metahumans they've already killed off, and Iris' role in general... but DAMN is she pretty.

The beginning of Arrow season two was awesome since he was practically Batman. This season not so much since they're throwing more things at us, Ray Palmer, the League of Assassins, Merlyn, Sarah's death, Diggle Dad, and Laurel the Black Canary. I find it hard to swallow the writers saying they want to keep this show grounded but they keep giving us more bullsh- scenarios.

The Flash is an awesome show to watch, and we know it can keep its sh- together. Barry has to do two things, be a police scientist and fight crime. Harrison Wells provides the overarching mystery for us, and there aren't that many things to juggle at once.

True. Yeah, Diggle's reduced role may be another thing hindering my enjoyment of this season. I kind of wish they would limit Roy's screentime to him being in costume and kicking ass, because every time they try to have him do anything else it kind of brings the show to a halt.

I'm not looking forward to Cupid in the next episode, either. The idea of a superhero stalker is good, but how many archers are running around Starling City now? Has everyone decided to play fair and only use what Green Arrow uses? I was glad when Ted's ex-partner mentioned he never understood why they didn't use guns. Acknowledging certain things as being "absurd" within the show's universe makes it easier to swallow, in my opinion. Don't know why, but it does.

Also, TNT just cancelled Franklin and Bash as well as Perception, the latter of which has me really bummed out. They claim it's to make room for "edgier" and "louder" shows. I'm hoping they're moving ahead with the Teen Titans as part of their next wave, because that's about the only thing that would make that cancellation alright. We've heard nothing since the pilot order was announced a while back.

HOT DAMN was Constantine GREAT tonight. I mean, they didn't make him out to look like such a dick, and I kept waiting for a Papa Midnight appearance, but otherwise they did a great job of adapting Hellblazer #1 for this series.

I can't get into Constantine, as I'll mirror what I said about the pilot. The cast is great, but the story just isn't right for me. But I'll keep watching to see where it goes.

Pretty cool that Grimm featured Clayface, though Supernatural did the Golem story better because they had Barney Miller. David Giuntoli could make a great tv Batman, since he could be an older version of Mazouz's Bruce Wayne.

So  I'm looking for  some new stuff to read....what's everyone's favorite book that they're reading right now?   Mine is Hawkeye,  when they actually have an issue come out during the month....

Hawkeyes is great. Sucks it's over.

My current favs are Saga, Sex, and Black Science.

Since I started buying comics again recently, I've mostly just been picking up a bunch of #1's featuring characters I am already familiar with. Just got the 2nd issue of Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier this week, along with All-New Captain America #1.

I have a question for anyone reading the Injustice comic.  Where does it stand in continuity in relation to the game?  Prequel, concurrent, post?  I'm wondering if everything up to the current Year Three run is still considered a prequel.

Prequel. It'd have to make it to about year 5 to get caught up.

Injustice is a series I mention to everybody who asks for a recommendation, assuming they aren't already reading it.

I love Robin Lord Taylor's performance as the Penguin. Anybody noticed that they're making him intentionally short, even if it wasn't obvious in other episodes? Or is Fish Mooney's girl pretty damn tall?

Nicholas D'Agosto is pretty good as Harvey Dent, balancing charming and crazy as he was in the Animated Series. But I still think it's way too early to introduce him, since Dent and Bruce are besties.

And next week, Alfred is indeed a badass.

Caught the name Garrick on a metal works garage in Keystone City. Grindr er Girder wasn't that impressive of a villain, since THIS one ends up being an douche Colossus. The ending was very surprising, and it makes me wonder if Wells ISN'T the Yellow Flash, considering the Iris picture with knife seems kinda excessive for him.

I would certainly hope it isn't Wells at this point.
Threatening Iris immediately following a conversation with her dad where he specifically said "I will never stop looking for the killer" would instantly turn all eyes back to you. Wells seems smarter than that... but I just wonder if the writers are.

Can't help but wonder if Wells is in fact playing mentor to Barry AND Reverse Flash (off-screen, of course) somehow. I don't know. I just can't wait for it all to play out.

Regarding Girder, yeah, he was a lame villain. Douchebag Colossus sums it up. There were hints of personality, though. The fact that he took Iris back to their elementary school, and stared at the picture of himself in his wrestling get-up, kinda said to me that his life fell apart even before high school, which at least is a little different than similar tv jocks. I think I'm reaching, though. Kudos to them for giving the bully braces, though. Ha!

So they're going to introduce a Robin on Gotham. I Don't know how this show can jump the shark (or use the Bat shark repellent) if they're doing it all within the first season.

The way I see it, unless they pull a fast one, Wells as Zoom is the only thing that really makes sense at this point. It would explain how he has knowledge of the future. It would also justify his zealous "protection" of Barry: he needs him to have a long career as The Flash, so that his Speed Force will spread thoughout history and into the 25th century.

On a related note, I thought Arrow was better tonight. Excited for Atom and Captain Boomerang.
