Guardians of the Galaxy (SteelBook)(3D Blu-ray)(Blu-ray)(Digital Copy)(Only @ Best Buy) $34.99 *in stock again

eBay already infested. Going from
$30-$50
Such an odd mentality. At $30, after fees and shipping there's nothing to profit but RZ points from the transaction.

If things hold out, I'll have one more steelbook available. I can't pick them up until after work so no guarantees yet. FYI, all of them are going to CAGs. :p

I was barely lucky enough to grab 1 for myself. Wanted another to gift to a family member but 2 scalpers rushed it together right at 10am and each grabbed what looked like 10 copies each.

So wrong. There were 20-30 waiting since 9am in hopes of getting one. I asked the cashier if they were aware and she said "Yeah, I know them. I think they sell them online." Doh!

^^Damn, I would call best buy's customer service and complain.  I know the employees probably don't care, but the manager should at least try to do something to make sure everyone gets a copy.

There was a line outside the Best Buy in Fullerton, CA 5 minutes before opening. I managed to snag my one copy and checked out. I saw someone in front of me buying about 8 or so copies. Hate people like this.

Took my 90 minute trip to the closest Best Buy. Got caught in traffic for an hour. Didn't get there until past noon and they were gone. Asked, then called the nearest store. Nothing. Should've preordered but I wanted to find something for free ship. I'm an idiot. Guess I'll just get the Gamora slip at Walmart and a digital copy on iTunes.

If people decide to do this it probably will elicit a response. I once expressed my displeasure with their CD selection about 4 years ago and they did reply with back and fourth emails explaining that's just how the business is going. Which I do find kind of funny cause today looking at the albums that have come out in the last few weeks almost every slot was empty. There are still some people wanting physical albums.

Got mine, i went in around 10:10 and look around and only saw three copies left grab mine and stashed it while I went to the bathroom. Came back and all were gone, lol. They fucking put a lot of glue on this steel, couldn't get all of it now I got some sticky residue left on it damn it. Any tips on getting it off really bothering me.

Why? It isnt bestbuys or a store managers responsibility to make sure everyone gets one. If someone missed out on a steelbook then they can buy one of the thousands of regular case versions that will never be limited.

Besides if someone is upset enough to complain they didnt get a movie in a special box when the regular version of the same thing is sitting right next to it then they should be happy becuse they have no problems.

do you think if I pre-ordered and they said I could pick it up today that I'm safe? today is raining and I want to pick it up tomorrow.

Picking up tonight my pre order... if for some reason they did the wrong one there will be hell to pay, and no I will not accept a simple refund...

If anyone else has an issue with their preorder, don't accept a simple refund, I used to work there and they can easily issue a gift card for the trouble!

Got to my store 10 minutes early. Already 16 people in a loose gathering. 2 had returns so I was hoping I'd get lucky. By the time the doors opened there were easily 40 people and EVERYONE went for the display. I noticed people turning away from the display empty handed and heading toward the DVD section. Got there in time to grab one. Store must have had 30 copies easy. Two people grabbed 3 but everyone else, including myself, got one. They didn't last 5 minutes.

I used some disinfectant wipes that I borrowed from work but rubbing alcohol should be fine.

No, but it is Best Buy's responsibility to keep their customers happy so they keep coming back to shop. If people are turned off by the fact that they can't get an item, then that is bad business. I'm sure if enough people call in to complain that hoarders are buying 10+ copies, there will be some kind of response.

This has to be the worse handling of a limited edition case ever.  Not only did they advertise it in their ad as a black friday special and stupidly put it up 1-2 weeks before black friday and sold out online but never allowed you to order one for store pick up.  Was not able to get there at opening and got there around 11:15 and all were gone already.  Lady checked another store and said they had 15 so i called in hopes they would hold one for me and lady i spoke to said they were sold out already so either their stock checker takes a while to update or the lady lied.  So called another and they were gone already there too.  If any CAG has an extra I am willing to pay cost and shipping so please PM me.  If not I think i will take my business to Target and not give Best Buy my money for this specific purchase.

I picked up one for myself, the Best Buy had about 10 of them on the rack. I went to WalMart to get the Star Lord slipcase only to discover that it's the regular Blu Ray and not the 3D one. The fact that they wanted $22 for it made my choice simple, stick with the steel book. Can't believe they would put those cool slip covers on non-3D versions of the Blu Ray.

Rub some peanut butter on it let it sit for a while then wipe off. The oil in it breaks the glue down.

Easier solution to remove the glue: Get a piece of tape, fold it over and repeatedly press it against the glue. It will remove the sticky residue.

This way you aren't putting any weird substance (goo gone, peanut butter lol) on your precious steelbook cases.

The three copies I pre-ordered for myself, my co-worker and my boss all arrived today. Nice to see they are packaging them in the cardboard envelope mailers and not the standard bubble ones to keep them a bit more protected. So glad I pre-ordered after reading this thread. Hoarders be trippin over this one.

Nice to see your store do something about it at least. Of course, a hoarder could always use other people to buy more copies.
LOL, hoarders don't have friends. Only merch. Tons and tons of merch.

Went this morning and there was already a line of 15 people deep. Didn't think much of it as I usually pick up the Marvel steenbooks with no issue, but every individual in line went for these steenbooks. I bought 2 for myself, as it seemed most people were. One woman had 8 in hand though and was directed to the 2nd stash of them. Not sure if they limited them, but they only had 5 left when checked out at 10:15am.

BTW, the one I have opened needs goo-be-gone fast! The sticky substance they used this time around to keep the paper card on left a horrible residue all over the top and bottom of the front.
I used the sticky stuff itself to remove the rest but a tiny bit of goo gone used carefully will remove it without damaging the case. Just make sure to wipe it clean after.

Two albums have gone platinum in the last two years. Frozen soundtrack this year and last year and Taylor Swift's 1989 this year. Much as I hate to admit it, for the most part, album sales are nearly dead. It is a matter of time before Best Buy stops having CD's all together.

Good business actually. Those hoarders may buy all those copies today, and the next steelbok and so on, but the average Joe customers remember that they saw someone buying 12 copies in front of them and they couldn't get any and it affects their view of Best Buy for non-limited things too. It is not uncommon to limit copies being sold to people who appear to be re-sellers.

Stock checkers are never instant. They take time to update and for information to be shared. I have to imagine this is true of pretty much any inventory system.

Couldn't go at opening today dur to work. Went during my lunch and they were sold in Santa Monica, CA. :(

Guess I'll have to hope for a restock.

True lol. Doesn't mean they couldn't use any old bum off the street. I read on bluray.com that this one person's store had a 5 copies per person limit. A hoarder used strangers to buy 5 copies each. Hoarder ended up with 15 copies after it was all done.

fuck this. When there before the store open. Overheard some guy bragging how much he will make reselling them. As soon as the open that guy rush in and grab all of them (5 copies

You guys fucking scare me some times with your horror stories...

Knowing that the last two times I have gone in and the bitch behind the counter was clueless as to find my pre-order (she tried to double charge me!) I was ready with my order number and thankfully was helped by a new girl at the cashier lane!  Was so happy that she came back in less than 30 seconds with my STEELBOOK.  The other bitch would have taken 10 minutes to find it.

As I was walking out the security guy noticed me with it and said "YOU ARE LUCKY TO GET THE LAST ONE IN VA!" I gave him this BS look and told him about the stories I have read.

I was ready to call BB corp if they couldn't find it or if they came out with the non steelbook.

At walmart they didn't have any br's on display at 6am!!!  So I had to come back after work to get my rocket slip cover.... Keeping that and taking the movie back tomorrow.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask. I pre order GOTG during 100 bonus pts promo for in store pick up. When I return home and check my status, all I've got is 19 pts. in pending. Will it adjust later or did I not get the 100 pts.? Did anyone get it right away?

Sorry for submit twice. Idk how to delete.

Pro tip - next time, add anything to get you over. Then return additional item for essentially free shipping.
With the gas and time spent completing the return (not to mention wear and tear to your vehicle), you might as well just pay the shipping fee initially.

You wouldn't be upset if you were one of the first in line, and as the store opens, some jerks bull rush the display and grab all the steelbook copies?

Because I'm pretty sure that happened to a lot of CAGs on this thread.

Well I went at BB this morning probably 10:15am and the first display there were none, I was like damn I came too late. A resident (I work at a apartment complex) was there and he saw me and I was commenting that I wanted the steelbook and he was also looking to buy that movie but he wanted the Blu-ray and DVD combo which I don't think there is one which I told him but he then started to see the picture of the steelbook and told me wait there is another display and I think I saw few copies. So I went there and found 7 copies, so I went and grab two copies. I'm not going to lie and planning to resell one and keep one for me but when I went to the cashier he told me only one per customer. I was like really, and he was kinda nice and he said I think it is fair for everyone to have a chance of getting a copy which I totally agree so I left with one copy. Looking at this thread I think I'm super lucky to even get a copy for myself.

After reading some of your guys' posts about your experiences, mine was really smooth. I was shocked to see just how many people were waiting outside of Best Buy. I'm currently unemployed (hopefully will be working soon), so I have an excuse to be waiting outside of a store on a weekday for a freakin' movie. Anyway, when the doors opened, about a dozen people went to the new movie release stand. I was surprised that only one person out of the group grabbed the steelbook. I was the second to snag one while everyone else seemed to be debating about whether to get the regular or 3D copy. I walked around for a bit and when I got to line, I noticed that only about two other people had got the steelbook. I'm not sure if they were gone within 30 minutes since I dared not return to the movie section after seeing the crowd as I descended from the second floor, but I'm happy that I was able to get something that will be considerably rare with such ease. Heck, I even saw a Transformers 4 steelbook as well. Now if only my Best Buy had some video games in-stock so I could have taken advantage of the B2G1 this week instead of having to order it online...

And maybe it's just my preference, but I don't particularly care for the steelbook's cover. I really would rather have seen the image featured on the standard Blu-ray's cover instead of the tape player design. Plus the name of the movie isn't featured on the spine. At least the full image of the 3D's slip is on the back, so that makes up for it slightly.

As for the steelbook's glue/gunk issue, I just used scotch tape to get all the crap off. Just put the tape on the area with the glue and peel back. Don't pull off the tape too quickly or else the cover may sustain damage.

Glad I went to get my in-store pickup early. The copy they had set aside for me had 4 spine slashes. I have no idea how you slash a spine that many times, but thankfully I was able to get a mint one.

I love the retro cassette look. It's a steelbook, it should have alternate artwork to it and that cassette is perfect.

After work, I literally traveled to 3 different Best Buys, calling each one before I went. Of course each one is arrived at was out
I feel so defeated. I really wanted this to be my first 3D movie, and at this price it really makes sense. But oh well.

My Best Buy was out which is rare and made me think this thread would have a few people who came up empty handed. So surprised that Best Buy's order service, which is absolutely terrible, actually helped me for once.

Crap! Missed out in the steelbook online preorder and missed out instore today during my lunchtime . Friend of mine from the store told me that some dude bought like 20 at opening. Sheesh! Flippers always ruin it for the rest of us. Guess itll be settlng with the reg 3d version

you think that's bad...wait for the Avengers 2, Terminator Genisys, and Star Wars steelbooks :whistle2:\

I wonder if it was a good idea to not have the GOTG logo on the spine.

Agreed, although I do kind of wish it had a proper slipcover that had the title on the spine while its on the shelf.

Picked up a few tonight. They still had 10 copies behind the customer service counter - the store had been pacing them throughout the day, adding a few to the shelf every couple of hours.

All of my spares are spoken for now; sorry to hear others had such a rough experience.

you mean you ordered by phone? Cause I tried that and they were useless as usual. If so, what'd you tell them?

got mine today, my wife suprised me and was at Best Buy at 9:58. I had to be at work early today (of all days) and was super bummed out because I knew that after work everywhere was gonna be sold out. She told me there were a lot of ppl waiting for the store to open but only her and 1 other lady went to get GotG. My wife picked up 2 steels, 1 for me and 1 as a gift for Xmas while the other lady grabbed a steel for her boyfriend and a dvd copy for her kids. When my wife checked out, she said there was only about 10 steels left and that was at 10:15 in the am
