The very easy AI (which is the only AI unlocked for the beta) is so terrible I don't know why anybody would waste their time trying to hack it unless they found a way to get higher difficulties. All you have to do is build maybe 4-5 marines and attack click their base and you win.

Yeah I played the original. I'd say it's definitely worth it at those prices. It's basically like a darker Diablo 2 with guns and no leveling. From what I've heard it's very similar (with the same story and some of the same enemies) but has a new campaign and some new features.
