no offense taken. and of course not all tvs made by any brand are going to have the same problem or there would be enough media coverage on the product that no one would buy it. just saying that i have seen the no-name brands be problematic. they are cheaper for a reason.

probably a bad coax cable or bad signal if its direct to tv(no box). if there are any splitters on the line remove them and see if quality improves. wont be high def without a cable box. also check what stretch feature you have the tv set to. should be called normal, 4:3 or something like that...

most recievers with hdmi passthrough will get you the newer sound formats. the 09 denon recievers are supposed to be out soon which the cheapest one is supposed to have 2 hdmi inputs.
