I wouldn't toss this game away yet. Anyone who has played the last three sonic iterations (Shadow, Sonic 2006, and Secret Rings) knows what to expect how bad these games can be. Already, this one outshines the previous three.

Most BBs are like that. Just buy the game normally. Then go to the customer service center a few seconds later, and say, "Wow, I have an ad here that shows that CC has COD4 for less. I don't know where it came from. Give me 110% pmplzzzzz." Something along the lines of that.
