2006 Super Bowl Champions Pittsburgh Steelers AKA Official NFL Discussion Thread #4
Yeah, obviously this game is fixed, how could I never see it, the NFL totally wants the Steelers to win. Thank you "thingsfallnapart" for showing me the light of the referees cheating.
For the upteenth time on these boards. I must say, the NFL does not fix a game for a win, they fix it too keep it close for the ratings.
Screw off. I was trying to be a fair sport. Now i hope the hawks come back and cream the steelers pathetic ass.
Fair sport? All you Seahawk fans are throwing in the towel. Listen, it's 7-3. Who's playing better? The Seahawks, theirs no doubt. You know that within this second half a call or mistake by the Steelers will happen, now turn off your computer, sit down, and go wear your Seahawk jersey you just bought.

i dont own a seahawks jersey. But i will enjoy the second half, thank you.
Wow, I thought the half time show sucked....anyone else agree??
TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE show.
Wow BULL fuckIN SHIT! I don't even think Ben got in the endzone yet it's a TD...
It crossed the plane, though barely, but it crossed it.
seattle looks totally deflated, if they cant hold pitt to a field goal here, you can put this one on the board for pitt.
I don't think so my friend. One more quarter till Seattle takes this one home.
I don't think so my friend. One more quarter till Seattle takes this one home.
yeah they brought it from

Blocking below the waist?

Tackling from behind when it was made illegal at the beginning of the season?

Holding?
A push off?

Superbowl XL is a total sham.

I bet on the Steelers, but I don't want them to win like this.
fuck. Another Steelers TD.

Game over, fellow Seahawks fans.
The game wouldn't be over if the referees weren't biased assholes.
The game wouldn't be over if the referees weren't biased assholes.
I'm beginning to think this as well, much as I don't want to.

Its a fumble if no Steeler touched him. Looks like someone might have grazed him with their hand, which is extremely lucky for Seattle.

I haven't seen much wrong with the refs today... Ultimately, Seattle just isn't executing. The end of the 2nd quarter was a complete fuck up by Holmgren.

I'm curious as to how much of the game you have been watching if you haven't seen anything wrong with the referees today. Turn on the game, you can find it on ABC and then you can see what is actually going on.

I have only seen two plays worth questioning and I can't fault them for calling either of them (pushoff that looked much worse than it was and the Ben TD that did not have a good enough angle to overturn it so by rule the play stands)

also you call it a fumble because it can always be challenged, but if ruled a dead ball then it cannot be challenged by the team who recovered.

I agree with you on the second quarter, but when was the last time you saw them call a push off? It happens at least once every game, and it's synonymous with 88 from the Cowboys.

So far I've seen several bullshit calls. That touchdown was bullshit, the holding call when number 75 was blocking for Hasselbeck was bullshit, especially since the Steelers have been doing it all game, and the blocking below the waist call on Hasselbeck was bullshit. He was trying to tackle, not block.

There's been an open missed holding call on the Steelers, an open missed offensive foul on the Steelers, and the takedown from behind was completely overlooked. Grabbing his jersey from the back and taking him down was made illegal at the beginning of the season because the Cowboys did it to TO, he was injured, and the Eagles bitched about it.

Someone will always complain about the refs, its nothing new. The Seahawks are losing right now because of the Seahawks, and nobody else.

The low blocking call on Hasselbeck was a bad call, but it really doesn't change anything. He still threw a pick.

I don't care who wins this game. Yes, Pittsburgh has gotten some breaks. But that happens in every game. Usually, the team that executes better gets the breaks. That would be Pittsburgh right now. I'm sure its all the ref's fault that Seattle missed 2 field goals and threw a pick when they were about to score.

Im usually not a conspiracy theorist but This Game blows me away in the Fact the Officials actually did dictate the game.......The Darrell Jackson call for one.....and the phantom hold that cost Seattle another TD (1st and goal at the 2) that is an 11 point swing and look at the score.....Seattle was done in by the officials a lot more than people think.....Way to go NFL......you got your fucking wish
Yes, Pittsburgh has gotten some breaks.
Some? How many penalties were called on the Steelers (there are about 3:00 left in the 4th quarter at this time)? You don't find it interesting that EVERY call that was even close to being questionable went the Steelers way? If you go back and throw out the garbage calls (and non-calls) by the refs, the Seahawks completely controlled this game. Look back and see for yourself. Every single time the Seahawks had momentum rolling on their side, oh look, another BS call to ruin it for them. If the Steelers came in, played a game that wasn't officiated poorly, and won, then that would be fine. I would have no problem with that. But that isn't the case - the refs have given this game to the Steelers, and that is wrong. A stolen game is what this one has been. Terrible, terrible game.

Seattle could have controlled the game. And yes, they took some ticky tack penalties that really screwed them. Whose fault is that? Seattle's. You shouldn't take dumb penalties in the Super Bowl. They would have had great field position after a kick return if not for a Seattle player doing some obvious holding, way away from the play.

Please explain to me how Seattle gets called for the penalties, and yet the Steelers haven't been called for ANYTHING. Please do this.

This was the wackiest Super Bowl I have ever seen. How in the fuck did the refs give this to the Steelers? Let some one else win a damn Super Bowl. I am tired of the same teams that keep winning this. So that makes the Cowboys, 49ers, Packers, Broncos, Steelers, and Patroits the only teams mainly winnning the championship from the early 70's until now.

like michaels and madden said Seattle fucked themselves over with their clock management. At the end of both halves they did it to themselves. People like Jeremy Stevens dropping pretty much every ball thrown to him did it to them. Face it, the recievers of old for the Seahawks showed up today and that team is not good enough to win.

Are you not watching the game? 6:20PM on ABC? Pittsburgh was called for 2 false starts, and offensive pass interference.

Seattle is just playing undisciplined football, inexcusable. They took some dumb penalties. They took their sweet ass time getting to the line at the end of the 1st half, and they took their sweet ass time getting to the line at the end of the game. They missed 2 field goals. They threw a pick at a crucial point in the game. They left a timeout on the board in the 1st half and let tons of time run down when they were confused about the play call, Pittsburgh bailed them out by calling timeout. They could have had 3 touchdown catches that they failed to stay inbounds on. Whose fault is that?

People like to blame the refs when their team loses. Ultimately, its their team's fault. I could blame the referees in the Pats-Denver game for a whole shitload more than they did wrong today, but its still the Patriots fault they lost the game.

the Steelers have not won a Super Bowl in almost 30 years, and it is not like they haven't been knocking on the door since Cowher took over. He has been to 7 AFC championship games (could be 6 but I am pretty sure it is 7) in 14 years so half of the time he has been the coach they have been right near the top.

You can pretty much look at every game and say that it was rigged. Seattle wouldn't have been in the game had it not been for home field and when they could not cause all the penalties that they get at home, they could not win.

I am sorry to tell you this my friend but the way that every call out side of the three you mentioned is total and utter bullshit how they mostly went against the Seahawks. No, I didn't care if the Seahawks won or not it just if you are going to have a game let it be fair, call the penalties on both teams not just on one of them.

The refs blew this one and blew it big time. But that is how most NFL games have been going lately so this has just made me not want to watch even more.

You're saying that being partial to a team is okay as long as they play well?

Dafoomie, you've just been added to my ignore list. I hope to save myself from your stupidity in the future.

PS: My team didn't lose. I just won $1100 because I picked the Steelers. I wanted them to win, but the calls were unfair to the Seahawks.

good thing the pittsburgh refs showed up too. There was just too many bad calls, the pushoff, the no hold hold, the low block, the big ben rushin td. Show me the calls that were in favor of seattle, none. I didnt even care who won, it was just annoying it wasnt a clean reffin game. Even the half time commentators were sayin the pushoff penalty was a horrible call.

Dafoomie...I have no team aliegence. Hell I only watch football no more than 4 or 5 times a year, if that. And after that first PA TD, it was BS. You can see the guy move the ball to the zone. He even looked at the ref in a puppy dog eyed manner saying, "did I make it?". Don't go and say that that Seattle blew it.

I'll go ahead and break it down for you one time, and then you can go ahead and quit posting because you are just going to make yourself look worse and worse. 1st quarter - Jackson makes a catch in the endzone, gets called for a push off. Hmm, looking at the replay, it is (if anything) very light. In fact, as the commentators stated, the officials weren't going to make the call right away, and then the Steelers whine, and oh look, a penalty. Momentum gone. 2nd half, a catch should have brought the Seahawks down to the Steelers 1. Oh look, penalty. Phantom hold. Interesting. Momentum shifted there, don't you think? Oh, and next play, what's this? Oh yes, a tackle from behind. No call. Ok, so then on the interception return, blocking below the waist? Really? Interesting, because to me it looked like a tackle. I guess I get those two terms confused. These are HUGE moments in the game, and yeah Seattle made some errors. But go back and WATCH this game. Seriously, just WATCH IT. I'm begging you. There is probably a reason why people are posting in here (who aren't even pulling for the Seahawks, keep in mind) talking about how horrible the officials were today. It isn't just Seahawks fans; it is anybody who actually paid attention. If you want to respond to this, go for it, but I'm done going back and forth with you. I recorded the game, I'll upload it and send it to you if you'd like to sit down and watch it.

Listen, that's the way it goes. Wtf do the refs gain in this situation? Tell me that, what do the refs get that sways their judgement? A push from Jackson is a push.
