2008-09 NHL Thread - Stanley Cup Finals begin May 30!!!

It's gonna be another one of those nights ain't it... wings.

On the other hand... like my friend said, if the fucks do win then it will make him feel better about the Sharts losing to them and have no business in the playoffs.
Niedermayer should be suspended for the elbow to Datsyuk.
Eff the suspensions. The Wings played like dick. Ducks played their game. Clog it up and hope for a break. Stevie Wonder could have connected on more passes in the first period than the Red Wings. Wings padded Hiller's stats shooting the puck into his gut half the night. Poor effort for a potential series clinching game. Flip a coin. Game 7 Thursday. Last Wings game seven was in 2002 when they lit Patrick Roy up like a Xmas tree.

Heading down to DC from Pittsburgh today to see Game 7 tonight for the Pens and the Caps. I just hope the Pens can jump on them early and finally get a 2 goal lead and keep the crowd out of it for most of the game.

You and me both brother, GO PENS!!!

TSN said that it got ugly at the end of the game, but there is no video!!!:bomb:
Pay attention at 1:36. Thats when Datsyuk almost get his head removed. There is exactly zero percent chance he will be suspended.

Wow. Plus, I'm not sure whether to like Perry for being such a great offensive player, or dislike him for being a dirty player.

Tomorrow night should be a good one! Or, an ugly one depending upon how you look at it.

I never mind some scraps and such as thats part of the game. The Ducks are known for their after game goonery so its no suprise. That elbow from Scott Niedermayer was pretty nasty. If a less important player pulled that crap he *might* get a suspension. In some ways I wish Datsyuk would have dropped to the ice and played like he got hurt badly, but F that noise I'd rather see a complete Ducks team get run out of JLA Thursday night.

The tickets have been purchased, and I'm going with 2 friends to Frozen Fury in September at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. I've been to Kings games at Staples, but this will be my first ever trip to Vegas, not counting a layover while traveling cross country on a Greyhound bus.

That dude who went to DC to watch his Pens got his wish of a 2-0 early lead. Damn it
And even as a Wings fan I don't want any suspensions for the end of Game 6. Move on and settle it in game 7.
EDIT: Wow. Pens need to stop scoring on every shot. Theodore to save the day? *sigh*
5-0 Pens now. But in hockey, no lead is ever safe.
If the Caps win I'll send you a six pack of your choice.

Oh, I don't expect them to win at all. But I've seen a team- the home team, sadly- blow a 5 goal lead in person. I'll take you up on that offer if the implausible happens.

If the Ducks win this one, I'm never going to hear the end of people talking about that called-back goal from a few games ago. Not that it's not justified because it was a bullshit call, but with me dropping XM this week, sports talk radio is the only thing tolerable on the air in this area.

That penalty kill where the Wings only allowed one shot during a 5 on 3 was nice.

2-0 Wings...

Bruins on top early but I won't be comfortable unless It's 4-0 again :\

Edit: Crazyness down in Detroit. 3-2 Wings now, and Boston and Carolina are 1-1 and damn close in most catergories.

Sharks and Bruins are further proof regular season records mean little outside of getting into the playoffs. At least when the Whalers were here they constantly failed and I didn't expect much of them, but the Bruins and Sharks? Both major disappointments.

I hope the Canes make it to the Stanley cup again and Detroit somehow loses to the Hawks.

The Red Wings stood tall tonight. That penalty killing was out of this world good. I don't even want to get started on the officiating...Holy shit....one word...schizophrenic. It was almost sweet revenge to have Cleary get that type of goal. Watching Hiller whine to the refs was hilarious. Unreal the Wings won this series with Pavel Datsyuk pulling a Mike Green. He had a key assist tonight but the Wings are going to need much more from him going forward. Osgood was very good and came up with some key saves.

On the Bruins/Canes. My God anyone but Scott "Sucker Punch" Walker. What a slap in the face.
Congratulations to the 2009 Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings.
Haha While thats a nice thought. I've said all season long the Hawks are no joke and it should be a fun series to watch.
As long as someone from the Western Conference wins I'll be happy.

Could care less about the East.

Exactly.
Toews & Kane are the real deal.
Quote by Mickey Redmond (Red Wings secondary Announcer or whatever)
In last nights game right at the end when the Ducks were calling for a penalty against Osgood for deflecting the puck out with 4 seconds to go Mickey said ""You've gotta be shittin' me!". I almost fell off the couch laughing. :applause:

Here is classic Redmond.

Hahaha. I remember that vid. And those pictures are funny especially Havlat on his knees.

All Chicago would have to do to win is step up their physical play. If Chicago can keep up their speed as well, the wings would burn out. I'm sure they are still tired from the ducks series. The Hawks should also roll Kane more- now that he is hot again. The younger players should be able to handle more ice time especially after the "long rest" they had after beating Vancouver.
I expect to see a more physical game from the hawks in game 2.
