2008-09 NHL Thread - Stanley Cup Finals begin May 30!!!

:lol:No shit. Lets hope those days are over. The division being strong only helps the Wings.
Surprised he wasn't knocked out for 4 to 6 weeks by that fistpump.

Ha ha... SARS lost to St. Louis.
No, they were fucking demolished by St. Louis. Let's call it what it is. It will be nice when Lehtinen and Zubov are back.

When it got to 4-1, I stopped listening to the game and went back to studying for the GRE. So far, the Stars have sucked balls in their back-to-back games.

Amusing to see that Washington pulled it out in Pittsburgh, though. (And I had no idea that Sergei Fedorov is now on the Capitals.)

Went to Wings/Rangers last night. Good game to see. The Wings came out like gangbusters then crapped out for a while. Finally winning in OT. Had a real close view of Hossa getting his first as a Wing and number 300 career.

Watched the highlights on NHL network. Must have been an exciting game!

Rangers doing good without Jagr. Oh well he's swimming in money right now my boy.
I'll be watching Canes hockey if they stopped blacking them out on u-verse. Fawk.

That was cool but I want to see a fucking killing like the philly Umbergah or Philly Kapenen hit. Or like dis! ha... ouch.

edit:

These will do too. xD

I was at the Wings game when Jiri Fischer put one of the Sedin twins through the glass at Joe Louis Arena. Hell I was 4 rows away. Guy sitting close got cut. Served him right for wearing a Canucks jersey!

Edit. I found the clip.

Here is a classic Hasek move from last season.

Good, clean hit, but you (at least I don't) never want to see something like that. Scary stuff.

Nice to see Colorado finally starting to play well.

Good first period for the Kings in St. Louis. They're up 2-0 on goals from Quincey and O'Sullivan, and they kept up their (so far) best PK at 24 for 24 against the (so far) best power play in the league.

All kinds of brawling tonight.

EDIT: They just had a big scuffle with every player on the ice involved. Mainly a lot of grabbing, though. Still, fights rule.

Oh, and I must mention that I find it amusing that the Blues have a player named Hinote

EDIT 2: Damn, another fight.

The Kings looked great in their 4-0 win. If not for a terrible 2nd period against Colorado and some stupid penalties against the Sharks in game 2, they'd be 4-2 or 5-1 rather than 3-3.

The game against Nashville tomorrow is radio only, but I'll be at the Ontario Reign's home opener anyway. Has anyone else seen any live hockey yet this season? Also, does anyone know of any torrents to download games? I think tomorrow's game is on Nashville TV.

Nope, not yet. I'm going to a handful of Coyotes games in November as well as December. Right now I have Sharks, Kings, Blackhawks, and the Red Wings games planned.

I might go to the Bruins/Coyotes game in Boston in March, I can get half price tickets. I'd have to take the day off from work though.

I've got tickets for the next 3 Saturdays in a row, against Atlanta, Dallas, and Buffalo.

Yeah I'd go to Coyotes/Bruins game, no such luck though.

I tend to go to a lot of Coyotes games because the arena is right by my house and tickets are pretty cheap, not as cheap as the Diamondbacks though.

Good for Kyle Quincey. I hope he turns out well in LA.

I've been to one Wings game this season vs NYR.

Search "NHL Torrents" on google and hit the first link.

Hossa scored a ridiculous goal tonight. He made Matt Schnieder look like a road cone.

It wasn't so much an amazing play by Hossa as it was terrible defense by Schneider. I don't think Schneider moved his feet the whole time Hossa was walking around him.

And what the hell was with that hit on D. Sedin? I've never seen a pane of PMMA break like that. There was a hole where his body went through!

The Sharks-Panthers game last night was pretty good. It's nice to see that the Panthers don't totally suck ass this year.

Quite painful... How does a team get 50 shots but lose a game?

Malik cracked the glass with a slapshot on the previous play in the Wings zone. The refs didn't notice it but us fans close and Hasek did. Hasek tried to get their attention but it didn't work. I remember thinking to myself as Fischer lined him up uh oh this could be bad!

I went to the Ontario Reign's home opener tonight. We had great seats in the mezzanine area with a terrific view of the entire rink. We were down by what was the Reign's goal for 2 of the 3 periods, and witnessed them improve their record to 3-1 after a 4-1 victory over Las Vegas, despite being outshot 35-18. As much fun as I've had watching the Kings on TV, seeing live hockey was on a whole different level and I loved it. I'm going to go to as many games as Adam (my friend with the season tickets) is willing to take me to.

Above-average goaltending?

Oh, OK. I'm surprised that the pane actually cracked from the slapshot without doing the "safety glass" thing and breaking into hundreds of little cubes. I'm just glad that Sedin didn't get hurt.

Glad you had fun. Hockey is great live. Just wait until you get a chance to sit in the first few rows at an NHL game. The players skill will blow your mind.

You just reminded me of something. Last year me and a buddy went to go see a Coyotes game, didn't have tickets as we were just going to pick up some cheap ones on the day of the game.

As we walk up to the office, these two girls ask if we have tickets yet, we said we didn't and so then they gave us two tickets right on the glass, right behind the Coyotes bench.

Getting $300.00 worth of tickets for free is awesome.

$300 tickets for free? uh huh.

Anyway, sitting right next to the glass is overrated... I did it once on the side and couldn't see shit for most of the game. Also, how the hell do you see anything besides the back of people's head sitting behind the bench?

The Sharks game I go to we sit at the wall where the suites are on the bottom level. No one behind us and it's high enough we can see the WHOLE ice as well as being close enough to see detail. Great seats. They are free for me when I go too.

Well it's a great experience, I'm content with higher seats as you can see more I agree. But they were free! I sure as hell wouldn't spend that kind of money on those seats.

And yeah, $300.00 together. They were $150.00 a pop.

Went to the Bruins/Thrashers game last night, Milan Lucic scored a hat trick. Great game, even from the last row in the balcony.

Man, I love every single one of those "Is this the year?" commercials. Some of the coolest I have ever seen. Especially those where the players come to life from the photos.

Buffalo has a pretty sweet scoreboard. They show all the players' faces who are on the ice, and they change each time a shift change occurs.
That's still a lot I think. Maybe back when we didn't have HD I'd have said it was an ok price but, not now.
The expensive seats in Toronto are $400 a pop. There are probably more real Leaf fans that go to their away games in Buffalo just cause they can afford it.

Also, anyone else think the new Hockey Night in Canada sucks.

I watched last night's Kings game earlier today. It sucks that they lost the lead with just a couple minutes to play and ended up losing in the shootout, but such a good performance against the Red Wings is encouraging nonetheless.
Might want to make that 6-0 now... xD
Boulton needs to get out there and bust someone's head. I can't believe that Lehtonen is still in net...

Richards had him beat on that penalty shot. Just couldn't lift it.

Something... lol

Edit 1: Man... That must of been a Southwest Airlines moment for Lehtonen and the Thrashers for that matter.

Edit 2: Nice win Sharks, shut down Malkin, Crosby, and the Pens.
