2011 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs - Boston Wins!
The New England Patriots now have the longest championship drought in Boston.
Actually the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer do. The Revolution have made it to four MLS Cups no less and have yet to win it so far.

2002 = LA Galaxy, 1-0 loss in sudden death goal by Carlos Ruiz.
2005 = LA Galaxy, 1-0 goal by Guillermo Ramirez in overtime.
2006 = Houston Dynamo, 1-1 tie, lost penalty shootout 4-3.
2007 = Houston Dynamo, 2-1 loss.

Major League Soccer started in 1996 with the New England Revolution being one of the original teams in the league.

No one cares about the MLS.

You know what gets me is when someone says "no one cares" when they really means "I don't care." Just saying. Just because you don't like MLS (and possibly soccer in general) doesn't mean it gives you the right to suddenly say "no one cares."

That isn't what I mean at all. As a matter of fact, I care about soccer much more than the average US soccer fan. I'm a Union fan (Doop it up!) but the fact remains that truly no one gives a fuck about the MLS. It's just the way it is.

Only thing missing is Nappy.

Its true though. Many more people in Boston care about European soccer than the MLS, they're a minor league. Indoor lacrosse gets better attendance in Boston than the Revs.

That couples photo is going to be one of those pictures that gets used over and over again for various purposes.

With the Revs at least I can understand since Robert Kraft for the most part treats the team as an afterthought. Yeah I love the Revs regardless but I do wish with the exceptions of bringing in Benny Feilhaber that more would be done to get the team back to its winning ways. However to call MLS an "minor league" given the huge expansions the league has made in the past several years from more teams in the league, growing TV ratings, etc is quite wrong. No I don't expect MLS to surpass or even get close to what the NFL for instance draws but I got a good feeling MLS is going to continue to grow and build its own fan base.

I'd love to go to a Union game, but there is no way in fucking hell I am going to Chester.

Its a minor league with regard to soccer. With the 4 major sports in the US, the best players in the world play here and all other leagues overseas are 2nd tier. Europe is the center of the soccer world, and MLS is a 2nd tier overseas league.

Even EPL had to start somewhere, right? I'll admit that yes Europe is the center of the soccer world but that doesn't mean MLS can't still continue to build and grow into its own respectable league that down the road can be an better draw for bigger names that aren't near the end of their career aka David Beckham.

Went to the Bruins parade today, had a blast, saw the Cup and a bunch of crazy shit. No cars flipped over, no stabbings, no looting.
What a bunch of fucking asshole douchbags. That sucks for those women.
No Kidding. Let's hope with all the cameras recording there those jerks get fines and jail time.

Good stuff. Glad you had fun.

In other news Nicklas Lidstrom will be returning for the Red Wings. Great news as even at 41 he's one of the top 20 players in the league. I'd say at this point he's greatest European player of all time and the best dman of his generation.

Kings send Wayne Simmonds, Brayden Schenn, and a 2nd round pick to Philly for captain Mike Richards. I like the trade. I will miss Simmonds, but he was disappointing this past season and the Kings need all the scoring they can get.

IT'S A FIRESALE, RUN FOR THE HILLS OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG

I honestly don't know how to feel about all this, I'm still trying to take it all in.

I'm with ya there, dude.
That Philly trade is pretty whack.
And signing Bryzgalov to a 9 year contract? You saw your team light him up in the playoffs, he is great during the regular season but when he is in the spotlight he crumbles.
That Philly trade is pretty whack.
Yeah, I take back what I said earlier after re-thinking the deal. I think Schenn will be a decent 2nd/3rd liner, though.

Lmao!

Exactly. Bryzgalov's contract gets smaller as the years go on, but no goalie should be signed for more than 4-5 years. The position is just too difficult and in turn the play is too streaky. Especially in Philly. If this guy doesn't get them to the cup in the next 3 years he will be booed out of town.
Yeah, I take back what I said earlier after re-thinking the deal. Anyone watching the draft?

Ryan Smyth going back to Edmonton (who is freaking stacked with prospects). And J-M Liles going to Toronto.

And Philadelphia is no joke when it comes to hockey, it's not Anaheim/Phoenix. Bryzgalov got bothered by the light media scrutiny when he failed here in Phoenix, it will be interesting to see how he handles the pressure to say the least.
San Jose overpaid, but Burns is a rare player. Still have to give him an extension though.
If Bruns walks next year then we over paid. But if the Sharks win it all OR we sign him to 4+ year deal, then it's a fantastic trade.

The Sharks biggest need by far the last two seasons has been the need for a #1/#2 dman. We get that in Burns. Seto is a lot easier to replace than a top tier blue liner.

I feel very bad for Seto, I'm sure the trade shocked him the most. He's a great player, the Wild will like him, hopefully he plays well with Koivu. And Coyle was one of our top prospects, kid could be an absolute stud.

All that being said, I absolutely LOVE the trade. I cheered when it was announced while I watched the draft and had to call a couple buddies immediately after.

Nice! Wings got Jurco with their first pick. Surprised that he was available at #35.

Grachev will be a great asset for the Blues now. I picked up a few of his cards this spring, so I hope he does well!
They basically gave up 3 1sts for Burns, I thought Minnesota did extremely well.
Bummer, Burns is a VERY cool dude who stays in town in the off-season and does a lot of charity work. He'll be missed big time.
Philly got Jagr. Wonder how much they paid.

EDIT: They got him for 3.3
So Detroit never had a chance.
Philly also got Talbot from the pens 5 years for 9 mil

That makes a lot of sense, stack the team but get shitty goalies. Lol, so is the plan for next year to bitch about not having any goalies too....??
