3DS - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Discussion Thread - Master Quest Included!
I haven't played this game since 2005 (on the Gamecube), but I remember a lot of the puzzles etc. Still an awesome game.
It's funny- i have only played parts of this game over the years and watched others but feel the same way.

Meanwhile- i tried to play through Portal 2 again only 2 days after originally finishing it and couldn't remember how to finish 3 of the puzzles. :(

I feel like I need to start the game all over again. I got some Gold Skulltulas. Then went back and checked them off and then got more and checked them off as I got them. But I have 1 more checked off than my in-game total and I'm positive I got all the ones I crossed off :bomb:

Anyone else really hate Bombchu Bowling? I don't know how I did it the first time. It feels harder to do with the circle pad.
This may have been mentioned already, but the Club Nintendo site has a new message up claiming that the free OST bonus offer is still available on a first-come first-serve basis while supplies last.

There's no telling how long it will last, but at least there's still a chance for anyone who wasn't able to register it before the deadline.

Sigh...I so would like to get this, but by the time I have enough money for both a 3DS and Zelda, the offer will be gone. :whistle2:(

Anyway, I'd so pick this up since I never got 100% completion on the Gamecube's version of Master Quest. Did get 100% on the N64 version several years ago.

So just buy Zelda for now so you can register it, assuming you can swing that.

I forgot how many love interests Link racks up over the course of this game. It's pretty awesome. Oh and Jabu-Jabu's belly has never looked more disgusting. The graphical update is very nicely done aside from the 3D effects.

hmm when I called Gamestop corp office they claimed that the poster was for Canada only. I swore I saw it posted for US as well. I wonder if I can find a link to that if it came from gamestop or from a third party.

Tho I was told when I ordered in store that I would get a poster....

The game looks beautiful, the color especially is amazing. I wish they would release this remastered version on the Wii's virtual console. I still hate the Jabbu Jabbu dungeon.

Got my 3DS system, Nintendogs retriever and friends and legend of Zelda.

I registered my zelda OOT on my club and got the CD confirmed today.

I was so worried I was too late in buying been too busy to have gotten the game early. darn work..

I'm waiting for my hori screen protector and 3ds case to come in from mail before playing can't wait!

I played some of the 3ds zelda oot on my brother's 3DS and I love it so far.

I put on the Hori screen protector. Make sure you read the directions and watch videos on YouTube. It seems tricky but actually works well. I only applied the one on the touch screen, undecided on the top one (I've heard the bottom can cause vertical lines on the top so I might put it on). I didn't notice any significant change in color, maybe a little darker but I'll take that over a scratched up screen.

After restarting my file since I lost track of the Gold Skulltulas I got, I'm up to the Water Temple. I've done a lot of things I'd wait on like getting the 4th bottle, Gold Skulltulas, and the Biggoron Sword (love it even more).

A helpful hint if you haven't gone through the Water Temple, I learned this in my last N64 playthrough. When you get to the water marker that's to the upper left of the entrance (I believe that lowers the water level to the bottom), play Farore's Wind there. That way if you get stuck, you just warp there, lower the level, and backtrack your way up.

I remember having a hell of a time in Jabu Jabu's Belly when this game first came out. I finished it the other day and it was so easy and short that I couldn't believe I ever struggled with it. I hope I feel this way about the Water Temple too, heh.

They made the water temple so much easier to go through. Put big signs to follow to the places to change the water level :p

lol... That's what always got me. I just finished Dodongos Cavern earlier today, so slowly but surely.

Has anyone had success catching a big fish as an adult to get the Golden Scale? I have hooked about 3 that looked to be over 10 pounds and every single one has gotten away.

I love Ocarina of Time, but this and the Dampe Grave Tour were the worst quests for a piece of heart. I prefer the long, tedious ones in Majora's Mask.

I can't get the Golden Scale either. The damn big fish just refuses to bite. I went away for awhile, hoping that I'll have better luck later. Is there maybe some sort of trick we're not getting to the fishing? I've noticed a lot of glitchy fish in there, too.

Easiest way I've found to get the Gold Scale is to stand on the furthest log away from the entrance on the left side of the pond (in the water) and try to catch the linked that'll literally be sitting right next to you. I hooked him and immediately caught him. Simple.

I forgot how annoying this game can be in spots. Like in the
Gerudo Fortress, the stealth is so stupid - you get seen once, and Link just stands there and lets himself get taken captive. No need to attempt to put up a fight I guess... just feels super video gamey.
Then just general time consuming push/pull block puzzles that aren't particularly challenging, just boring.

It is amazing how much of this game I still remember, I have been flying through this game, I just got to Gannondorf's castle in about 10 or 11 hours.

I think I'm starting to realize that I have never enjoyed the dungeon aspect of the 3D Zelda games.

I just see them as something I'm forced to do to get a new item and plot device. Sure, some of the puzzles are cool sometimes, but mostly it's "push the block onto the switch to unlock the door" or "kill all the enemies for a chest with a key to another room"

Dungeon crawling breaks the adventure part of Zelda that makes it fun. When I'm in a dungeon, I'm not exploring, I'm just mechanically going through the motions.

The early games were a bit better since the dungeons were confusing as hell so exploring was a vital part of getting through, by the time they got to Ocarina it was no longer something that required any thought.

I see what you mean, but I still enjoy sweeping through a dungeon, clearing every room. I'm still working on my first (!) playthrough of Twilight Princess and I think its dungeons feature a little more exploration, particularly the Goron and Zora Temples.

I need to get back into this game. Stupid Shadows of the Damned, and Dead or Alive Dimensions eating up all my free time . Once I beat that SOTD, I can do Dungeon Siege 3 and this at the same time (bet DOA:D's story on sat). Trying to get everything in my first playthrough then do it again with master quest.

I finally caught one last night. Either stand on the log that's sticking up or (if you can see the big fish is near that log) stand near the shore. Cast in that direction (use the camera button to move left or right, not the L targeting).

All you can really do is push down and A, hold R and A, and pull back (I think I pulled the direction opposite the fish). The rest is luck.

When I picked this up I was not sure how much I would play it since I already beat it years ago. It seems I have forgot nearly everything from back then though and am once again totally loving the game. I have made it my go-to handheld game. I wish there were other games this fun and deep on this system or any other. I just beat the fire temple at lunch today. Awesome!

Found another annoying new thing they added to increase difficulty. In Gerudo Fortress, if the thieves you fight in front of the cells hit you with their "charged" attack, you automatically return to your cell. It seems they can even hit you when your shield is up (or maybe I just let it go and don't notice it). Easiest way to beat them is spam your jump attack, they can't block it.
Is it just me, or is the hold L, move the unit to look around mechanic completely incompatible with 3D?
It seems that way, but I've found it to be a matter of what you move. As you move the 3DS, you need to keep your sight locked on the system and not use your peripheral vision. Basically, move your head along with the system. Once I did this, everything worked fine and it gave me insight into how the WiiU will probably work.

I've seen quite a few complaints about using the gyro controls with 3D enabled, but I haven't had any problems. It's not too hard to stay in the sweet spot while moving the 3DS as long as you can keep it horizontal, but I'm sure if you had to tilt to the left or right it would be a little trickier. It's really cool if you're sitting in a swivel chair and turning to pan around you; it makes it feel like the game world is really all around you, but you can only see it through the handheld.

A seller from Canada was selling LOZ for 3ds for about $27 (after currency exchange). I sent him a best offer of $25 and he accepted it! I got it for $26, including shipping. It'll come in 2 weeks! So in a way, I'm saving a $1 per day for waiting, which is worth it.

I didn't want to pay more than $30 for this game. But I'll pay any price for Majora's Mask 3DS...I'm getting excited lol

Yeah, they need to make this happen now.

It seems like the logical thing to do here is to program the game to disable the 3D effect when that function is being used. So when you go into the gyro view, it would flatten the image.

Nintendo did a little interview recently about how they were trying to share all their tips with devs for using 3D and gyro controls. Based on my experience with Face Raiders, AR cards, and Steel Diver - I'd say Nintendo hasn't figured it out yet either.

No thanks. I haven't had a problem with it and would prefer they preserve the "full" 3D effect. Having the option couldn't hurt, but then that's what the 3D slider is for.

So your saying that it works for you when playing games like Face Raiders, and the AR games?

I'll admit it wasn't incredibly bothersome in Zelda- but those other games were busted.

Yeah, I haven't had any problem with those games either. Part of it, I think, is having room to move around, which is not often calculated in advance since for many it's a new concept.

When I first played AR Games, I had too much crap on the floor and not enough room to maneuver around, desk/table not at the ideal height, etc. To compensate I'd try to angle the 3DS to accomplish some shots, which of course messed up the 3D, but as long as I moved along with the system, I haven't had any problems.

I'm glad I found the option to turn off Hold L and Motion Sensing. That stuff's annoying. I'd rather have the 3D effect, which I must say really adds something to the game.

I beat the Water Temple, getting all the Gold Skulltullas as well. I've never actually gotten 100% in OOT before, but I guess I'll give it a shot.

I started the Master Quest the other day. This game is pretty hard and it's funny what a difference mirroring the world makes in throwing everything out of whack.
Woot, Soundtrack shipped this morning. Cant wait to get it ^_^
Lucky! I totally forgot I have this coming too. Mine obviously hasn't shipped yet. :)

Mine shipped today. The soundtrack that came with Twilight Princess with Nintendo Power sub/resub. was in a cardboard sleeve. I doubt this will be in a jewel case.

Off Topic: I miss Nintendo Power promos when they published it.

The soundtrack is in a jewel case.

I just beat OOT, and this version is really nice. However, I lost the 3D effect A LOT in the last few hours of the game. I was getting double and triple images quite a bit.
My soundtrack shipped yesterday. If the case is cracked, I am going to raise hell.
My copy that i recieved from Club Nintendo today had a nice 3 1/4-3 1/2 inch long crack across the front of the jewel case when i took it out of the bubble mailer . don't know what happened it is what it is. otherwise the case is in perfect mint shape. keeping this wrapped for awhile since it's so pretty looking when it's sealed then i'll open it up later .
Just got my soundtrack today. I had to sign for the package as well which was weird.
If I remember correctly I had to sign for last years Club Nintendo Platinum award.

I actually want this game it looks really nice but my husband who is a die hard Zelda fan and has this for the original N64 and again for gamecube and now that we have a WII he's a bit hell bent on "why should we buy this game yet again when we have it?"... but but... it looks so much nicer!!! ^____^ That comparison pic is just mind blowing!

The graphics really are much nicer and the 3D effect is amazing. Added to that are the replayable boss fights, new motion controls, in-game hint videos and master quest mode. If ever there were a game remake worth buying, this is it.

I had to wait so damn long for the CD that I had no idea what it was when I found it sitting in my mailbox.

Probably going to start master quest soon. Every damn second I play this game I want MM 3D even more =[.

I am thinking about keeping my soundtrack sealed. I mean I already have the original OOT soundtracks on my PC so I don't really need to open this one.

Is it just my game/3DS but when when I got the first heart from the first boss, my screen was in 3d and Link held the heart up, the 3D screen completely split. Some sort of glitch?
Anyone?

So... it just occured to me today that I never got my soundtrack. Anyone else have this happen?

I bought the game day 1 and registered for the cd either that day or the next. Actually got 2 seperate shipping confirmations(same order #) on different days.

No soundtrack ever showed up, and Nintendo's tracking page always errors out when I try to track it. Just shot off an email to them but in the meantime I'm curious if anyone else had issues..

fezlopez.. you probably found the answer by now, but that heart thing is a known glitch.. i saw some videos posted about it when the game launched. I think it's only on the first dungeon.
