None of the TRU in my area had any Lucario for walk ins.  I asked them when they took preorders and they said 1 day in December and they cut them off.  There was like 30 people there at the store all pretty mad that they couldn't get one.

I figured. Never been that big of deal considering I'm an sm of Gamestop so I can get nearly any amiibo I desire especially by knowing the Nintendo rep. Lucario I was just chill on and it came back to bite me. However I've had villager and Wii fit trainer for months and didn't bite because I'd rather see others happy. The only one I purchased personally was Bowser. I believe I'll land Lux here eventually. Those are the only two guys I smash with
Is sm a shift manager?

GaneStop at Wolfchase and the one on Park have been awesome for me. I have had great customer service with both places.

I don't plan on opening my Lucario any time soon. I have an order from Japan coming soon of the four exclusives. Just waiting now.

Why in the world would they offer amazon to preorder SMB series and say we are limiting you to "x" number. Why not keep the preorders rolling and manage production accordingly?
I'll agree with pretty much the rest of your argument, but the answer to this one is simple--- they produce X and then force retailers to divy that number up. That's the real problem with all of Nintendo's LEs, like the MM game bundle and MM N3DSXL.

I'm pretty sure a lot of this is our fault, who didn't preorder any or much of wave 1. That also played a role in how production has gone, and Nintendo is now trying to make sense of that in line with preorder numbers now (considering scalpers can preorder too).

TRU actually held my preorders , I'm kind of impressed. I figured they'd sell them with me not being there first thing in the morning. All this amiibo crazyness has kind of depressed me, I wanted to open and enjoy them, but with certain ones becoming rare, the collector in me says...oh hells no

Only big difference I saw was you said you asked for two, he said you asked for 3 and moaned when she said only 1. Other than that it's the same story just from his perspective
I was successfully able to swap for a different one with a better paintjob because the one she handed me was chipped and had big splotches of paint in places the color didn't belong. He also made me sound like an asshole who was a vocal jerk and treated everyone like garbage. Yeah, I'm an asshole, but I was polite and friendly to everyone involved today.

The fact that I apparently got made fun of for actually caring about the quality of the item I'm spending my hard-earned money on is pretty shitty and does bother me a little.

But I don't really need to get into it any more.

maybe retailers shouldn't offer pre orders on items that are in low quantity. it seems like a lot of people went to TRU today and left empty-handed because Lucarios were only given out to people that pre ordered. or at least be more clear when pre orders go live, like when amazon gets something in stock, they will e-mail you

WHAAAA???? Thats exactly why you have preorders. Preordering something thats common to me is extremely dumb. Why give a retailer an interest free loan?

I received my Japanese Meta Knight from Amazon.com today.

Pretty neat figure. Its crazy the difference in size and complexity between something like Kirby and something like Bowser and Meta Knight.

Why limit your sales? If I say I can make 100 units and they're presold in 1 day, why not make more? This isn't a limited edition item like MM3dsxl.

Why not take the approach of letting your sales people(in this case the retailers) to sell as much as they can?

Nah you're in the right. I noticed my shulk's upper left box is slightly damaged and now it stews on me.

I see that one dropping in price tho, I can't imagine it holding its value for that long. So I would open it.

There was easily 100 preorder cards for Lucario at my TRU back in December. I get the feeling corporate didn't realize how few they would be getting per store when they made the cards up. Makes you wonder about the supply issues with NoA.

Store manager. Oh Mr. Phil and Mr. Steven Jones. Those are my guys I love em. Yeah were all cut from the same cloth. Actually Phillip used me to get some of his guys some exclusive Amiibo. Good to know they've been good to you. Just trying to give honor to our people since were universally known as a bad place of business *shrugs*

Lol wasnt that the guy that said you were butthurt when you said buying up the stock of rare amiibo at one store to trade was the same as scalping? The irony :)

I managed to get a Lucario this morning before work. The unfortunate thing was that there was a line of a few people, with a scalper being up front. Dude pre-ordered almost 20 Lucarios and was boasting about it. Douche.

I just talked to someone from TRU. They said the stores got the ok from Nintendo to sell Lucarios early due to high demand. They also stated that all online orders will be shipping by no later than February 3rd since release date is not officially till February 1st.

My nephew cry this morning when he left with empty on hand with his dad... Speakless about this amiibo .. Not enough stock for peope ... !!!

damn 20? thats alot of money he spent lol. what a fool tho, if he puts it on ebay, the market will be saturated and prices will go all the way down. So I don't know why people buy so many like that.

I got there about 9:20ish, only one person standing there. A lot more people started showing up closer to 10am, needless to say some people left disappointed.

I went to the Canyon Springs store in the morning for shits and giggles, they went from having two preorders to all four being for preorders. I felt really bad for the guy that was there since 5:30 in the morning.

I think the preorder cards screwed people out West, I think they were only out for less than a day before the mass cancellations started happening and preorders started showing up for $999. Too many stores out this way didn't get more than 10, while very few got 10+.

Any horror stories in the iE?
I think I saw you at the Canyon TRU.

Stupid auto correct for sm to am.

Phillip has been awesome. He helped me get my Little Mac, Diddy and Fox. He had the Fox transferred from a store in West Memphis. I met Steven one of the times I went in, nice person.

The issue with these amiibos though is that you're pretty much not going to lose money on these. With the exception of Diddy Kong, basically every amiibo that remotely rare has sold above market value. That's plenty incentive to overbuy when you know you can probably charge 15-20 + shipping and still find a buyer anyday

TRU also had no idea on if there will be a restock or not, told me they didn't know either way.  Who knows at this point.  Lucario probably going to be one of those mega rares at this point if no restock because almost everyone who went there walked out empty handed.

Hate it that some figures are so scarce that you to resort to third parties to
get them now. Even getting preorders in is a pain. Why doesnt nintendo just make more of them. They reprint their popular games most of the time! Tsk! Thats why being late to the amiibo party is just a hassle. Cant even make myself buy my 1st amiibo knowing that i cant even complete the line without me shelling out more money than i have too.

Same story at my city. Only Lord knows!

He wants luca this morning .. He and his dad came early but they cant buy at all.
That's what I figured. It's not an ideal solution but he's readily available on some of the Amazon stores for various countries. If your nephew is only interested in the figure and opens them, it's better than paying scalper prices. I had to go that route for a couple figures for my son. Best of luck that your nephew gets one soon.

Waited for an hour at the national city, CA TRU after having them tell me a few days ago they would have them for sale today. I was #2 in line with about 20 or so being there when they opened the doors. The guy opens the doors and says "all we have is for preorders". Needless to say all San Diego is sold out with most stores having people camping out at 4am.
I called them yesterday and they said that they only had 4 and they were all for preorders. I went to the Grossmont TRU and they only had 3. I got there right at 8 after dropping my kid off at school and was the third one there.

My Rosalina should be here tomorrow and I picked up my Lucario today. I'm considering keeping the 4 store exclusives sealed and scalping the hell out of them. I think I'd rather have $200-$300 people will be willing to pay once I have all of them.

I am agree with that too

this. Its crazy the pictures i've seen of german stores overflowing with stock, and using my city as an example (Austin, TX) I've found that there were 9 Lucarios shipped here between three stores. 9. For a city of nearly 2 million people. If they do exclusives again, I'll gladly go amazon.de route again and save myself the hassle

My local target has 28 rosalinas to be sold on sunday.  Anyone want me to try to get an extra for them?  I'll be there like at 6am.  Not playing around on Sunday morning.
