Man, I saw Konnan and Rikishi tagging on AAA tonight (since I could not bear to watch the UK- Cincinnati game).

Rikishi looks no different, and does the same shit; nevertheless, it was nice to see he's working. Konnan, on the other hand, was wearing tights and behaving as very much the "wave to the crowd" good guy kind of role. It was very surreal, considering how he has presented himself in American wrestling promotions since roughly 1998 (as "K-Dawg" for want of a better phrase).

The match sucked, natch.

Truthfully? None. I watch Raw with enough consistency to understand what's going on there. I tend to have a "gaijin bias" when it comes to watching Luch a Libra or Japanese promotions; that is, I'll watch a match if I recognize the guy, and I might if I don't. I do know more than a fair share of the Japanese guys, but storyline? Nothin'.

I know more about TNA than I do Smackdown, though. What's this 1998 Master P "Chaingang Soldier" bullshit? Why are they selling a jersey with the number "54" on it? What is the significance of that? How can they give Orlando Jordan a title and expect people to watch? Now that the Bashams are back on SD (And off Velocity), is their gimmick anything more than "big guys who interfere in JBL's matches"? Who are all these fucking women? Things like that.

I think I have two major problems: (1) American wrestling promotions storyline writing skills are just atrocious. They are simplistic, asinine writing that a 6-year old can see through, with zero intriguing swerves, zero character development (I dare you to explain Batista's character to me, and still have some points to make after two sentences), and thus, it generates zero interest. (That is, of course, unless you are intrigued by one big guy screaming "you're gay! I'm gonna kill you!!" at another).

(2) Language barriers: I never studied Spanish; I seem to be approximately at a kindergarten level in terms of reading it, only because, like English, it's a Romance language; for instance, when I read "a Una Caida" on the television screen, I know it's a two out of three falls match, and I'm watching the first bout (then again, in Lucha Libre, single falls matches are very rare). I've been studying Japanese for 6 years, but that doesn't mean shit when it comes to listening to screaming men yelling into bad mic systems using colloquial forms of speaking. So, although I enjoy the wrestling, I apparently only follow Raw.

I tought you were the one who mentioned the ROH guy in WWE jobbing to the signed WWE talent so i thought you kept up with some of the other promtions that arent on tv.

I know who's who, but I don't follow storylines. Sorry for any confusion.

No confusion I dont usually find people who talk about other promtions and thier wrestler outside of the WWE. For me the WWE has its best shows a month before, and a month after WM and thats it so I check it out less around no WM times.
 
So, I don't watch SD anymore...but I did catch Velocity (or the 12-minute tivo version). What was up with the crowd?

Not the people, necessarily. What a tiny, tiny building to run TV in. I recall noting the physical changes in SD's quality at approximately the same time the "Smackdown Six" stopped working awesome matches every week (though I will not claim that as the sole causal factor).

1) Doing away with the ramp
2) After running without a ramp for over 1.5 years, they recently replaced it with the world's tiniest ramp. It reminds me of the late Nitro ramp. Hell, it might be the same one. I don't recall the vivid change from big ramp to no ramp to small ramp on SD, but compared to the Raw entrance area, it looks like a C-level program setup. The ECW ramp (ok, they were steps) were larger than what SD currently has).
3) The barricades. This was the visual clincher for me. Typically, the wrestler walks 75-100 feet (estimated) to the ring, and passes by a long aisle of fans (perhaps 25 on each side) on the way to the ring. This weeks's Velocity had a barricade that was no longer than 10 feet, and had no more than 5 rows. It was a total shock to my eyes to see how pitifully small it was. Did anyone else notice this?

Triple H talks for far too long.

Ric Flair makes a damn fool of himself, and sweats all over shirts none of us could ever afford.

Batista gets a little comeuppance, and is thwarted by Evolution (giving him heat to take into 'Mania).

Randy Orton comes out to give an interview (4 weeks, JimmieMac), only to be interrupted by Undertaker's eerie magic (either that, or WWE runs on DirecTV, and the satellite cuts out that damn much). Randy is spooked.

Chris Masters destroys the entire ROH roster in one match; or, he will take on the Hurricane. Odds are even for either occurance.

Shawn Michaels has a heart to heart with Janetty about Thursday; Janetty will sport a cast or something similar on his ankle, in a storyline remniscent of the hit movie "No Holds Barred."

Gene Snitsky will have more acne.

Trish will impress; however, the other women will make her look like a damn fool.

Hassan will do nothing.

In what looks like a reunion of Rocky III, WWE announced that Sylvester Stallone will be inducting Hulk Hogan into its Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony will take place April 2 at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles the night before Wrestlemania, and while tickets to the pay-pre-view are already sold out, you still have an opportunity to watch some of the sport's greatest showman get their just rewards by ordering tickets to the Hall of Fame event through Ticketmaster.com.

Portions of the WWE Hall of Fame Induction can be seen on Spike TV on Saturday, April 2, at 11 p.m. (ET).

I completely forgot about SD... it was St. Patrick's day afterall, so what did Angle do to Janetty? My guess is he probably "snapped" his ankle or something and Janetty had to be wheeled off after their match... lame.

I really love the idea of the Batista/HHH match at WM 21, but these promos really accomplish nothing. As they say... actions speak louder than words. Talking shit does very little to further this angle.

If anyone Tivo'd Raw, go back to the Regal/Tajiri match and check out the bump Simon Dean takes after Regal hit him with the knee to the head. It happend right after Dean broke up the Hemme sunset flip pin.

If you check the last thread you'll see where I predicted that Orton would turn heel and help HHH retain the title, but I guess that would've made too much sense.
 
I'm not sure about helping HHH but a heel turn my Orton was somewhat necessary going into this match. He has to talk shit about the undertaker, and since the Undertaker is one of the most over wrestlers around he's naturally gonna catch heat for it. I think taking a hard turn was much better then trying to maintain this middle of the road persona.

I have to say, I completely did NOT expect him to RKO Stacy. I don't know what I expected, but not the complete heel turn they apparently wanted to do there. Stupid Vince. Haven't you learned the quick heel/face turn for Orton does not go over?

Oh I knew she was fucked from the get go. Orton's been getting heel heat, and I think Vince wanted to make Orton vs Taker a regular heel vs face match. The wink at Stacy sealed her fate, and then he goes on to say he has a message for ALL his doubters, well wasn't Stacy just doubting him facing Taker back stage? Surely he'll use that as his justification next week. The only thing that surprised me is that he didn't end the kiss with the RKO.

It was cool to see Orton turn heel, but I still think I'd have waited until WM.

I think that HHH and D-Von should feud over who was the better mentor for Batista.
 
I think Synn should come and they can make it a 3way dance with HHH and D-Von, if Synn somehow wins then Batista must finally return to his Leviathan alias, and of course if D-Von wins, well it's back to Deacon Bautista!
