Animal Crossing: City Folk - Gen. Discussion and info
It's meant to be a cutesy addition to the game. I notice it more and more with each day, and can't really tell how I feel about it. Makes the ground textures too busy. Looks dirty.

So everyone is experiencing it - trust me. Especially when you consider that people fishing will run along the same borders and so on.
I don't like it one bit. I mean, I think my son time travelling to 2035 made it worse. But if you are seeing it already then I won't get too worried about it as we'd get it that way eventually anyway. But maybe you should visit my town tomorrow to see how bad it is. I think it is a horrible change to be honest - it makes finding the digging spots nearly impossible because everything is patchy and ragged.

As for the NPCs and rumors and such, I did have one of my animals say something strange to me today. He tried to buy something off me and when I refused he said something about how he shouldn't believe the rumors then. I'm thinking maybe I sold something to an animal in someone else's town and word spread about that? Or it was just some stupid thing Rolf said that doesn't mean anything. It would be pretty cool if it was the former, though.

Anyway, I'll definitely be home and playing AC tomorrow. In fact, I'm feeling so nauseous right now that I may be doing it instead of eating. I haven't eaten much of anything today and the prospect of a big dinner sounds horrible to me right now (I have some sort of stomach flu and 2 of the 4 kids have strep - fun times).

Yeah, the 'worn' paths on the ground make it looks dirty. I really don't like it.
It sounded cool when I heard about it months ago but the result is kind of lame.

I got a present from Strell's Friga.
Good, because I wanted to steal her.

And now Moe is saying he might have to leave my town.... Why!
He said he's going to try to ask really nicely to see if he can stay, what is going on?

I don't know how accurate the interview is, considering that it was probably conducted months ago, but here it is:
So as the player walks around, the grass is gradually worn away. We made it so that it starts to grow back after a day has passed.

...

Remember that while the grass will slowly grow back, the speed at which it grows will change depending on the environment. If it's an area full of trees and grass, or where flowers are planted, the grass will grow back more rapidly.
I'm not sure what the effect of 27 years has on the growability is, or even if that still exists. But maybe you could experiment with time traveling and planting some trees/flowers to see if it helps any. Also try to avoid walking on worn down areas as that is supposed to contribute to the loss of grass over time. Personally, I don't mind it as I feel it is one of those small details that adds something to the game even if the textures are a little less detailed.

I did kind of "cheat" before I went out of town this weekend, as I wanted to be able to experience the Harvest Festival since I'm visiting family. Might be a little early, but I picked up a bunch of extra furniture in the Harvest Set that I need to trade to help complete the set. I don't remember what I had off-hand, but wanted to see what extras other people picked up.

I really can't bring myself to play Animal Crossing anymore after what happened. Seriously it's really hard to go back and play. It might be because of my house, but I don't know really.

That ever happen to you guys and girls?
I'm never time travelling again with turnips...
Um, what happened?

I have some extra Harvest Dressers, Walls, Chairs and Mirrors for Trade. I need a Harvest TV, Bureau, a Harvest Sofa and another Harvest item (which I forget atm) for a complete set. I'm kind of sick of chasing him around town right now.

So, I don't want to miss this but it seems it hasn't started yet. Tortimer says something about 3 o'clock. Can you not get the harvest furniture stuff till then or are we supposed to go find somebody? Problem is we're about to start the real Thanksgiving stuff and can't play till much later. How much time do you have to get things?

You gotta find Franklin the Turkey. Then you basically have to give everyone Knives and Forks, then keep bugging Tortimer for more K&F's and give them to Franklin who in turn gives you a Harvest item. I am presuming, of course that you can give any K&F to Franklin to begin with.'

It's basically a big game of hide and seek because he moves after everytime you get an item.

Yes, but does it not start until 3pm? Or, is it OVER at 3pm? Tortimer just says something about 3pm - my kids are playing right now and don't want to do what I want them to, so it's hard to look into it much ;).
Left Hook:

You need to post up your gf's Friend Code. She can get this by going into the town gate and talking to the guy on the right (Copper). There should be an option in there for "Friend Code." It'll be a 12-digit number XXXX-YYYY-ZZZZ. Post it up along with her character name and town name.

Then she can add people to her friends list, and we can do the same. Then she'll be able to visit other towns/let people visit her's.

Might want to show her this thread or something too - lots of good information in it. People will post what fruits they have and when turnip prices are high and so on.
Alright, I'll let her know. I spoke to her about it yesterday, she's never played a game online so she's a little uneasy about people coming to her town. I told her it's not a big deal, but I don't know. I think it'll be best if somebody shows her how it is by inviting her to their town. I'll come back soon for an update, FC and all. I kind of wish I had this game, but I have a PS3. I have a character living in her town, but I don't get a chance to play much.

Also, I told her to register here... we'll see.

Man I hate having to look for that Turkey especially with my town layout. If you have tons of trees it's going to be hard to find him. xD

Seriously I keep getting repeats of stuff, it's really annoying. Wish my house was bigger to fit most of this stuff again.

Well you can give the knife and fork to villagers and they will tell you where he is, but after you give them all one, you are on your own. :(

Yeah... This event is actually pretty cool. The last event that everyone will be doing is Halloween, I wonder if the villagers will do stuff to you if you don't have candy like the GC version.

My controller just died, i need to recharge it. How long does this knife and fork exchange last till?

Here is my list so far... if anyone is interested in trading i wouldnt mind later tonight.

harvest stuff:
I have 5 rugs, 5 beds, 6 mirrors, 3 tvs, 3 clocks, and 6 lamps.
Just one or two of the rest. All I need now is the chair, and I would like a couple of them.

I'm up for some trades :bouncy:
If the mayor says the turkey is not here yet, does that actually mean he's not in the town at all? What gives?
I think he shows up at 3pm

That means he's there. He's just hiding so he does not get eaten! I find it funny that in the first game, he hid from the villagers, and now he fell for their trap again.

I just found him thanks. So if I go back to the mayor and he says it's ed's utensils, do I give it to ED, or do I give it to the turkey since he said keep them away from the neighbors?

hmm thought you said it was your "g/f " that played.. Someone a closet Animal Crossing fan? :whistle2:s

Well no, I'm on the phone with my GF, she's panicking because she only has 30 minutes to play.
SO I'm just asking on her behalf. I AM a fan of AC, no shame... I just don't have it, since I have a PS3

I used to play it on my friend's GameCube. It's the reason why I bought it for her in the first place.

...but anyway, what happens if you give them to the neighbors instead? Consequences?

It makes your girlfriend break up with you.

No they just say thanks, and tell you where the bird is. Then you go get another set of knives and forks and go get the bird!

Anyone wanting to save time- i took the knife and fork from the mayor, walked about 10 squares away and dropped it. Then i got another set. I did this until my inventory was full, then i just ran laps around the town til I found him. After locating him, i would just go into one of the houses and come back out to reset his location. If i had any trouble finding him, i'd just give a set to a neighbor. Worked well for me.

Thank you SO much for that tip. I can't believe I didn't think of that.

Okay... to Strell and everybody.

Her character name is Michelle and her town is called SanWiego.
I wasn't sure if she used the name Chelle instead, so I had to ask her.
I still have to get the FC from her though. So, if she doesn't join the forum to share the info, I probably will soon.

Thanks.

Putting them into letters works as well. I don't think I even want to admit how many items I got tonight

I finally got 1 chair and now I'm going to take a break.

We don't have a cabinet yet, and we are running out of space. Is it possible to bury items on the ground for storage? Will they disappear or is this not even possible?

Oh, now it's we?!?! You can bury things, yes. You should get a dresser or something, but in the meantime, put it on the ground, garbage dump, in letters, or in the ground. The items will not disappear and neighbors won't take them. RELAX.

haha yeah, my character lives in the town too so... whatever. Anyway, if we dump them on the ground they wont disappear after a save & quit? ...and neighbors can't take them right?

haha, I just lied and told her that you guys said if she takes too many knives and forks, her character goes to jail for 2 weeks and she can't play. "Gasp, no"

It ends 9pm.
It has ended for me. ALL I need is a floor. Does ANYONE have a spare Harvest Floor?! PLEASE PLEASE PLEAAASE HELP!

You can have one of mine. I was going to give them away if no one really wants to trade. I don't need 5 of any one harvest item

But I would really like another chair. Anybody?
I got an extra chair and needs lots of stuff...
I'll open my gate so you can come over. It's all sorted and laying on the ground near my house.
