 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/movies-tv/2959127011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_mov_1_3_last   (Blu Ray)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

It's a shame that the Flowers of Evil got killed by the majority of the anime community all because they did some different.

I enjoyed Golden Time a lot though waiting weekly was a pain lol. I originally dropped Flowers of Evil because the animation threw me off but I figured I would give it a second chance after Ping Pong/the good reception it had.

Watamote is something else I enjoyed and plan on picking up from the sentai sale as well as Love Lab. I also picked up Short piece as a blind buy since it wasn't too expensive.
i just started wat ching watamote recently. i found it enjoyable

Also, is there anything in this sale I should jump on?

Any impressions on Flowers of Evil, Golden Time, or anything else notable? I know they aren't dubbed, but at least I'd be able to enjoy them alone or with friends.

I want to take advantage of my 10% membership on top of this deal if any offerings are worthy!

Thanks!
I think there's good buzz surrounding Love Lab, but I'm not 100% sure.

My cart contains the following, though I may not be buying all of them:

Watamote
Flowers of Evil
Golden Time 1
From the New World 2
Dog and Scissors
Fate/Kaleid liner something something name show

Just fyi, Fate/Kaleid is a mahou shoujo, so I can't quite remember if yo were into those types of shows or not.

Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, I knew what it was and was on the fence about it. I like that it's tied to the Fate franchise, and am also a fan of seeing familiar characters in different roles. It's hopefully more Madoka and less Pretty Sammy ;)

(And before anyone starts on a typing spree, I realize it's not going to be Madoka) :)

from some of the comment i saw on it, it is very similar to Cardcaptor Sakura

well I will say it... it's not good :p

it's alright though....

the second half of season 2 on has been pretty good though. (if you ignore some things)
You kinda had to do that with S1 too tbh, and I'm sure with S3, and S4 too.

Obviously not as good as TLA, but meh, expectations were too high to fulfill really.

Is Masters of Mosquiton complete OVA series pretty good? I saw it at HPB for $20 bucks and was tempted to buy it after reading the back cover.

I'm finally registering to cag but I've been following this section for a while. I'd like to thank you guys for giving me the tools used to slowly kill my wallet. :) and I look forward to contributing when ever I can.

Congrats on becoming a CAG, officially that is! Speaking of killing my wallet, I made another large batch purchase at DVD Planet on the last day for that coupon. Which led me to...

I've long been a fan of the media shelves made by Sauder. I use them CDs, movies, games, and even paperback books. It comes in various colors, and sizes. Here's a link to an example of the shelf I'm talking about.

Thanks for that suggestion! I bought two and they arrived on Saturday and spent like 20 minutes on Sunday assembling them. They are great and were exactly what I was looking for! Only downside is, that I ordered too much stuff recently and should probably order another shelf. :whistle2:

I have nowhere near enough room for another anime shelf. Most of my recent anime recirculates in the future man cave box ._. I assume many people here has space issues.

I searched around on eBay and I saw this fake one and then a few that look legit and are sold in the US. I guess less and less people were buying them for a high price so the value gradually went down. I haven't really checked them lately but I've seen the complete set (second link) for $100+ at a few Otakons.

EDIT: That second seller sells a lot of counterfeit goods. That is what the collection looks like from memory but that set could very well be fake. Buy at your own risk.
Did anyone ever find out if these are counterfeit? Or a way to tell kind of hard

actually as the other person has said, season 3 started off great, like if it keeps up like this until the end of the season I might consider it worthy to have avatar in the title great o_O; (im sure it won't though, but boy would I be glad to be wrong)

Unless Sentai messed up on their relaunch of their site.

November they are releasing Hidamari Sketch Hoshimittsu Bluray
http://www.sentaifilmworks.com/shows/hidamari-sketch-hoshimittsu

December they are releasing Maid Sama on Bluray
http://www.sentaifilmworks.com/shows/maid-sama
Says the same for:

My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU

http://www.sentaifilmworks.com/shows/my-teen-romantic-comedy-snafu

Devil Survivor 2: The Animation

http://www.sentaifilmworks.com/shows/devil-survivor-2-the-animation

Dog & Scissors

http://www.sentaifilmworks.com/shows/dog-scissors

Most likely it is just an error. Although I do remember saying that they would probably do a blu collection for DS2 down the line.

Counter left on anyone looking for lupin the 3rd:

$18.74 each

Love Heist - 1
Thieves' Paradise - 18
The Flying Sword - 6

The rest have over 20 copies left

I have it so yeah. Be advised though it comes in a DVD case haha and has a G2 slipcover (bluray sized) over it iirc.

Also...the above mentioned blu ray is part of a sale Funi has going on right now at Amazon.

Picked up Robotics;Notes part 2 finally. PM'd it at BB and used a $5 RZ cert to get it down to $25.96 after taxes.

Nothing too amazing, and Rightstuf has them beat on all the Viz stuff per usual, so it's a pass for me this go around (also some of the well priced items I already own! :p).

It's like a combination between Rightstuf's and Best Buy's sales with all of the items listed. XD

There's also some things that aren't on that list that have gone on sale too, so if people see them post them up here. I'll get us started,

Fairy Tail: Collection One $25.49

Fairy Tail: Collection Two $25.49

Most definitely. Like neoz said, it comes in a DVD sized case with a bluray sized slipcover. However, you can get a proper slipcover by just emailing Funimation. They will send it to you for free.

Hmm. How is Aquarion Evol?

Haven't even seen the first. Is the series worth a watch? Was only thinking about Evol because its LE is about $30 right now on Amazon

Oh and does anyone know TRSI's next partial shipment date?
It's not for everyone. It's super-ultra-hammy with a lot of fancy imagery inserted to make the story seem more epic than it actually is.

That being said, I freaking love it.

I am having a hard time picking a anime out that is on sale.

any options on what ya think  the top 5 on sale are?

thanks for any help narrowing down  an order

Wondering if I should even bother starting out picking up the Fairy Tail blu's since, as was mentioned earlier, it seems like Funimation is content on releasing the series in parts as opposed to collections. That, plus I have Funimation's streaming service, maybe I should just watch it that way. Decisions, decisions...

Funimation has most of 1st anime dubbed besides maybe 40ish episodes. I watched them all then just went to subbed because I didn't feel like waiting for the dub anymore. The first two collections are worth it for $25 especially if you plan on owning the whole series eventually. 52 episodes will keep you busy for a while.

I do not regret a single dollar of the money I spent buying Fairy Tail Parts 1-11.

Sadly it looks like Right Stuf is going to have a summer sale starting tomorrow. I was hoping for a decent studio sale to cross over with the Sentai one. I guess it's time to see which shows make the cut.
