It'll have English Dubs, Original + Subs is better anyway.
Agreed, and those options are of no surprise. I specifically meant the theatrical version. It turned out reviewers like myself bashed the 1.0 dub during the theatrical run that they're not bothering this time around.

Yeah never liked dubs at all.
Especially since they recycle the shit out of Voice Actors.
I did, I did! And don't forget the jiggling and sex moans when what's-his-face was firing that big gun. Among other scenes I've tried to so hard not to remember. The show would have been so much better if not for the *ridiculous* amounts of T&A that were so inappropriately shoehorned in there.
Whew, it's good to know that I'm not the only one who thought the T&A was horrid.

Are you sure 2.22's theatrical release will be the Japanese dub? If that's the case, then I guess I'm not gonna see it at a theater like I was planning.

Uh, Japanese dubs are the same way; maybe you're not paying attention, but Japanese dubs re-use people all the time.

According to my film distributor contact, no English dub for the theatrical release. He said he put my review copy in the mail today so I'll see for myself next week.
Well there were only 2 blu rays sets released in Japan (I sent the link from amazon.jp to dv8 for some trasnalations awhile ago $228 for each set :/) containing each half of the series respectively.
So basically..
DVD Box Set 1+2 = Blu Ray Set 1
DVD Box Set 3+4 = Blu Ray Set 2
And it appears that the two Blu Ray sets are being sold together in a complete edition.
Unless Funimation or whoever has the license are dicks about it.
You may want to double-check that, both Amazon and Rightstuf are reporting the runtime as 625 and 635 mins respectively. That is way shorter than the full series (51 episodes x ~20mins per episode = 1000+ mins). The price also seems to good to be true for the complete series... you still can't buy it in dvd form that cheap.
so you gave up on Fruits basket?
No, I'm still watching FB (I watch ~5 series at a time, one episode ea at night). Started it last night and so far it is alright. Way less shoujo than DNAngel (which I could only stand 2 episodes of) so I will probably stick with it.

26 episodes at 20 mins per episode = 520 minutes, so the reported runtime makes perfect sense for the first bluray set. The second bluray set should be roughly the same and cover dvd sets 3 and 4.
*ordered* Thanks for the heads up
Eva will be several dollars cheaper during Rightstuf's next Funimation sale, which is due very soon.
You just reminded me that Maho Tsukai Tai exists and I remember it pretty fondly from back in the day. I know it's unrelated but I figured I'd mention it.
The OVA is great fun, but ugh, the TV series is complete ass. I think the OVA was the second digital fansub I ever watched, after Love Hina. In Real Media format, too.
They have the DVD at 650 minutes.
It wouldn't surprise me if Funimation split it up into 4 parts. I'm hoping they don't still though. ^^
Funimation's Soul Eater Blu-rays will be released in two sets, one with parts 1 and 2, and one with parts 3 and 4. This was never in question.
Oh god real media format digisubs. I watched ummmm what anime was it in that format, it wasn't love hina was it? It may have been. No, it was .avi but they were only about 80 megs apiece, but the kicker was I downloaded them on a 56k modem, all 26 episodes. I think the anime I saw in RM was Cardcaptor Sakura, no wait, it was slayers. Also, I actually liked all of Mahou tsukai tai. Yes, the tv series wasn't that good (especially compared to the ovas) but I still though they were good fun.

Eva 2.22 blu-ray retail is $35, so a Rightstuf 40% off Funi sale will make it $21. If you have other items to order to get to $49+ free shipping then it is worth it to wait for RS, otherwise you end up paying $3 for the cheapest shipping making it the same cost as Amazon preorder (assuming you get free shipping with Amazon, which I do with prime).
I don't think there is anything else I want to order right now, but Amazon is easy to cancel if I do think of something by the next RS Funi sale.
Amazon had 1.11 blu-ray for $15 recently, so if you really want the cheapest you can wait for another Amazon sale in the unforeseen future.
Is the Funimation sale already going?
No not yet, but Righstuf has a 40% off Funimation sale every couple of months. Once it is going it will be discussed in the Rightstuf thread since we try to keep this thread more about anime/manga content than prices. There was recently an Amazon funimation sale but that one has expired.
Surprised some of you on here didn't like the dub too much, from what I've heard it seems it worked with most critics. It seemed good enough for me to like it especially since it had most of the original cast from the series but to each their own.For me with dubs vs. subs, have to switch back and fourth for a couple of episodes to test it out and overall I'd say I go with the subs with japanese about maybe 65% of the time and dubs the other 35%.
Anyone know if that 2.22 will be the final dvd version?I remember getting 1.01 and then in less then 6 months or so they already re-released it again under 1.11 adding a few extra things. One would think the ".22" would likely mean its the final version for a long while though.

As of right now 2.22 is the definitive version. It's the only version available in Japan as well.
Did a marathon of Legends of the Dark King recently , by all rights I should have hated the show since for a Hokuto No Ken title it wasn't really all that gory but it was just so unintentionally funny that it gets a pass.
Naruto- Kakashi is a general now why the hell is he personally jumping into the battle endangering himself when he has oh so many grunts around him. Just reinforced that everyone not from Konoha is worthless. It was just one of the those chapters where if you step back and look at it nothing happened but a lot of posturing and talking.
Bleach - Chapter was just terrible, long winded explanation is fine but then Ichigo just agrees to help them just like that ?? After Aizen mind ing him during pretty much every encounter I really would not expect him to just say sure to any easy offer like this. A real step backwards
i'm not gonna read the guy above me's post cause i think it contains spoilers with no SPOILER tags. if this is true somebody yell at him.
I was thinking the same thing, please include spoiler tags whenever discussing series content.
So far I am losing so much interest in the new Bleach storyline, they are taking way to long building up this new plot.
As for Naruto, holy crap I don't care if Naruto comes back. The 2nd tier characters are so interesting, especially the introduction of the new enemies.

For those of you going to get Evangelion 2.22 and haven't yet ordered or can cancel.Just came across wal-mart's site when looking at bargains for anime, they have it for 11.96$ for pre-order.It's the cheapest I've seen it for and I know at amazon they have it for about 20,and here its about 12,so about an 8 dollar save for those of you trying to get the best bang for your buck.

Just finished watching my Evangelion 2.0 theatrical screener copy. Unexpectedly emotional stuff. Nice soundtrack tweaks like using music from Kare Kano.
I haven't read Naruto in a few months. I stopped reading after the Kisame vs Guy fight. I'll get back into it when I have some down time but it's really dragging. I kinda just want it to be done.
Stopped reading Yotsubato. It's funny and oozes cuteness but doesn't have that "need to read the next chapter" feeling, so I ended up not reading manga for a while. Just started up Hayate the Combat Butler and so far am digging its humor and style of storytelling.
Really enjoying Fruits Basket anime (about halfway through). It has an Ouran feel to it, which is a very good thing. Almost done with Law of Ueki anime, mindless but enjoyable.
Would just end up with even more stories about how much the current claymores suck compared to the old crew.
Meh, I just want to get to the end of the arc.
Meh, I just want to get to the end of the arc.
 There is a story arc going on here?! I'm not sure what is going on with Claymore anymore before the time skip it was much more focused but now it just is all over the place and these time buying chapters don't help.
I finally got around to watching Full Metal Alchemist over the weekend. It was definitely as good as people say it is, and I can't wait to watch Brotherhood.

Found a copy of Phantom Quest Corp at a Movie stop for $6.99, which I now realize isn't that great of a deal ($3 on half). Never seen it before, looking forward to watching it.

Phantom Quest is a fun series. It's very 90s OVA though; there's a bit of nudity and some mild sexual content. I love the music.
Just got back from the premiere for the live action Gantz movie. Cant really say I loved the movie, but for what its worth, it was decent. Like with the anime, some of the stuff seemed a bit too dragged out and certain characters just got left out altogether. I wont give too much away (even though im sure most people know what happens in the manga/anime) Like the anime it ends right after the Bhudda arc, so it is a bit of a sad ending, but they happen to throw in a twist at the end followed by a "To be continued".
One thing I am hoping for is some good merchandising. The live action "pistol" looks awesome and I am hoping they release some kind of replica.
Finished Law of Ueki anime. It was your average mindless shounen action series (think Get Backers, but Get Backers was better). Next up is Ranma 1/2.
Loving Hayate the Combat Butler manga. Funny situations, characters, dialog, and references to other manga and anime (including being self aware that it is a shounen manga), without any of the fan service that other manga of the genre rely on. It has that "must read next chapter" feeling.
All the way to the Bhudda arc in a single film?Slightly surprised they went quite that far,but I suppose thats better then starting the second film with the Bhudda arc since with it being about the 3rd or 4th mission you'd kinda have to unless you make up a mission.Have to say loved the Bhudda arc though. In my opinion was the peak of the series(Not to say the series sucked afterwards).
Copying coolsteel here but how much gore was in it and about did they leave in the sex scenes/nudity as well?

Yea, they flew through the games pretty quickly and some aliens were changed to be more comedic (ie Tanaka Alien). I doubt any of this is really spoilerish, but ill put responses in spoiler tags
Blood/gore:
It had plenty of blood and alien fluids spurting about, but most of the gore was off screen while it happened and then they show the aftermath. For example when they corner the Green Onion alien and start firing away, they switch to a shot from behind the Gantz team where you can no longer see the Alien, and then just a huge explosion of green goop. The Tall Onion Alien dismembered a few ppl, but all the actual dismemberment was off-screen as well (showing the person's face in agony, and then a body part on the ground). Eventually they show the whole room drenched in blood and body parts
Sex/Nudity
Kishimoto still beams in nude however they show no full breasts or anything below the waist. The dog isnt in the movie, so there was no "peanut butter" licking either.
For the Bhudda game, they complete removed Sei's character, so Kurono never got any in the movie.
The Bhudda game kinda bothered me...
They changed Shiva's weapons to ONLY be swords. It still rapes the hell out of people (including Kishimoto & Kato) but I was sooo looking forward to seeing how they were going to do Kishimoto's acid bath.
Unless it really has been that long and I just dont remember it happening in the manga, The biggest WTF moment of the Bhudda game was after Kei finally gets a shot off, Shiva uses its swords to block the shot, which causes them to shatter. After this, Shiva pulls out a mini Bhudda statue and throws it. This mini bhudda statue proceeds to turn into a 500ft tall Bhudda and starts smashing shit. Of course, Kurono takes him out in 20 seconds. This ends the game even though the Shiva Alien should have still been alive (unless there was some kind of Life Force transfer that happened when he threw the mini statue)
If you guys want a bit more in depth, this guy sums it up pretty well:
I would still say its worth watching as long as you keep an open mind. My hype for the movie was seeing everything from the manga happen in live action, which is probably a stupid way to go into live action movies (as Detroit Metal City, 20th Century Boys, and many others should have taught me).
I still reaaaaaallly want a replica of the guns, those things were so badass.
