Anime & Manga Thread Vol. 2: Za Warudo!!!
Dammit! You should have sold me that Macross collection. I waited too long and now volume seven of ADV's singles release is crazy expensive. Ugh, it seems like I have no way of owning the complete series, unless I get lucky and find something somewhere.
Aww. I'm sorry. I didn't know if it'd be proper to come in here and pimp my anime collection.
With that said, check out my eBay listings. http://www.ebay.com/sch/friendofsonic/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686
There's some stuff that's OOP, dunno if you're looking for. This goes for you or anyone else. I've got stuff up through the letter N listed, and then a list of cheaper anime going for my Craigslist post.

I feel really bad about selling it. I really wanted to watch Macross and Robotech, too. But there's not much to do about needing to buy a house...

Found a few volumes of Shaman King at my local library on my weekly hunt for actual manga. (I hate reading it all online and I don't have the cash enough to buy any.)
The artwork reminds me of One Piece for some reason...

Thanks anyway, but hopefully I'll manage to get a hold of it someday. I do want to get Kyo Kara Maoh — I should have bought that at Best Buy when they were still selling the Geneon stuff — but I can't afford its ridiculous OOP-inflated price right now.

I recently picked up all the Hunter x Hunter box sets, since it seems to be going out of print, and I'd like to watch the original show before the remake premieres in October.

Razzuel, I really need money so it'd be delightful if it sells for the 149.99 it sells for. But if it doesn't after some time passes, I'll contact you about a reasonable price.

Buy mine! And all that other stuff I have for you, as well. :D

Thanks for the offer. Although, Kirin's offering his too, so if he wants to
sell his at a reasonable price and I have the money for it, I might already own it before your auction ends, haha.
steins gate is too good
It's so damn good. I was disappointed that
they undid all the D-mails to get to the beta world line to save Mayuri. It's not a question of quality; I still loved it, but I was hoping the show would get crazier and crazier in order to save Mayuri. By that I mean that I was hoping for the show to stay unpredictable, since I found that unpredictability so interesting. Whatever, haha, because the way it all actually turned out was still fucking amazing.
Anyway, holy shit the latest episode was brilliant!
The romantic stuff was executed phenomanally, but what got to me the most were Okabe's two speeches. The voice acting blew me away. Also, that song that plays during the credits is so, so damn good; I listened to it all day yesterday. It's called Gate of Steiner.
Buy mine! And all that other stuff I have for you, as well.
Yeah, I need to get with you to go over that stuff again; it's been a while, haha.

hay there wait a second
:p I'll check in with you in a couple of weeks, Razz.

By the way guys, whatever happened to Trigun on blu-ray? Not that it would matter much to have it on Blu-Ray, but sort of curious.

Well there's going to be at least one more twist along the way based on the post-credits. Really hope to see
Kurisu come back

Finished watching Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit. It is as amazing as everyone says it is. I'm curious about the ending when
Balsa goes off on another adventure. She had saved the eight lives she sought to, so I believe this last outing would be to atone for Jiguro's death. What do you guys think?

Caught up on reading Ore no Imouto manga (ongoing series, currently in fourth volume). It's an interesting read, and I love the art style. Looking forward to finding out what happens next. There was an anime adaptation recently but I haven't checked it out.

-Update-
Started Eden of the East to replace my time slot from Moribito. Haven't picked a manga to read yet.

i agree with the opinions on soul eater (good but not great) and eden of the east (great series with meh movies/ending). i haven't really watched anything in a great while due to life circumstances but i want to at least get back to fairly tale and other shows i started.

i stopped Soul Eater immediately when the first half ended. i saw like 2 minutes of the following episode and was like, "lol not falling for the old cash-in this time"

aka death note.

Sigh, my misfortune knows no bounds.

I started watching Hunter x Hunter tonight, but before I started I wanted to do a little research on the quality of the English dub. Well, I usually check the "voice acting" section of ANN reviews to see how the voice acting is in English and Japanese.

I fucked up this time because in the review of the third box set (I usually check the first and the near-end volume(s) to see how the voice acting fares over time) the reviewer said
"The death of Kurapika..."
and then that's when I stopped reading.

Once I started watching the show I realized that it's actually a pretty big spoiler. Ugh, dammit. I need to invent the phone microwave and send myself a D-mail to tell myself not to read that god damn review.

Well, the show's pretty good so far, so there's that.
Kurapika doesn't die.
You're right, haha; I just went back to the sentence and it says "the dearth of Kurapika..."

Yeesh, I missed that very important r in there. Well, now I feel stupid. XP

Spoiler tags? For an anime that ended ten years ago in which I state "Oh yes, one of the main characters doesn't die."? Come on. :/
Cool, thanks for the spoiler tags. -___-"
Haha, I don't feel like it's a spoiler anymore, since it doesn't actually exist. XP

I understand your point though, but then you wouldn't be able to laugh at my mistake. What's the fun in that? I think it's pretty silly.

Nevermind, I misinterpreted what you guys were saying. (I thought it was a typo and he actually did die, lol. Didn't even know "dearth" was a word).

Haha, you just made the same mistake I did but in the opposite direction. Now we both feel stupid. XD

This is pure, comedic gold, haha.

Been considering dropping parts of my manga collection lately; I have some full sets (GTO and RuroKen off the top of my head), but primarily series that I started but stopped primarily due to the economy and a lack of space. Would like to get a little cash out of it, but I know there isn't much in terms of resale. Any suggestions?

I heard what everyone said about it before I watched it. I absolutely loved it early on. While I agree it went downhill in the 2nd half, I still like the filler much better than I have in other anime series. I still consider it great, but not one of my all time favorites. I ended up liking more than I thought.

I finished Baka and Test a bit ago. I really enjoyed it finding it funny and liking the characters.

I finished Baccano! and Baccano! Specials. Baccano! was awesome although I was a tad confused as to what was going on at some parts early on.

I liked The Place Promised in Our Early Days, but I prefer the other two movies (I was a tad confused at the end...may just rewatch it since I saw it late one night).

I finished Code Geass R2 recently and absolutely love it. Hard for me to see which season I preferred, but the ending part of R2 was just epic. I may have paid $100+ for all DVDs + manga, but it was worth it.

I finished Angel Beats. I thought it was good, but not great. Didn't fit me all that well, but most any anime that my good friend G-Nitro loves, I tend to not like (same situation with Lucky Star). Stuff I love is what he dislikes, haha.

About to watch episode 10 of Sacred Seven.

I started reading Shugo Chara since the final volume came out. It's a fun series, one of the better recent magical girls. Next week, the Sailor Moon manga starts being released!

Finished watching Eden of the East tv series, and it was outstanding. I don't get why MAL denotes it as a josei series. It's definitely adult content but I don't think it's targeting a specific gender of audience. I almost didn't watch it but decided to anyway since so many people here recommend it (thanks!). The op in the first episode was perfect for the series, it's a shame Funimation couldn't use it for the whole series. I will have to check out the two movies.

i agree with most of your sentiments...i'll be watching out for what you recommend in the future since our tastes are similar.

The ending to angel beats was great though. I am re-watching the recently rereleased mobile suit gundam box set 1 along with the usual stuff like naruto.

Any one know if thier planning on releasing code geass r2 in a collection like the did with the first season??

I recently finished Canaan. I was a bit disappointed because I thought it was going to be an awesome show, but turned to be just OK. I just couldn't like any of the characters.

Going through some boxes at home I came across some oldschool anime from the 90's on VHS. Wow... did that bring back memories. I'm not sure what to do with them.

Looking back I must've been a horny little bastard cause some of these are terrible animes with hot chicks on the cover. Knights of Ramune, Dragon Half & Cutey Honey to name a few.

But I also found some great stuff like Robot Carnival, Legend of Crystania, a few Tenchi Muyo movies & Roujin Z.
Katanagatari is too damn expensive
Agreed- I'm very much interested in it, but I've never seen it... and that's a lot of money to sink into a blind buy.

Eventually there should be a non- premium release. Maybe then I'll get it.
Anyone know where I can find a copy of black lagoon cheaper than 70?
Check ebay & amazon from time to time and hope you can find someone else selling it that has no clue on it's value.

It's one of those shows, much like When They Cry & Familiar of Zero, that Funimation license-rescued from Geneon. Only to have the license expire and let the box set they were releasing go out of print. That's the only reason why you can't find one cheap.

I watched Sword of the Stranger. I enjoyed it for sure. Animation was superb.

Started Part 2 of season 1, D Gray-man. Finished finished 22 episodes so far. I like the setting and Allen as a character, but I don't fully understand what is going on. I may start reading the manga more to help me.

I just finished Sacred Seven episode 11. Waiting for episode 12 this week so I see what happens. Finally watched another episode of SKET Dance, which cracked me up big time (episode 8).

I just added Ga-Rei-Zero to my anime collection, so I'll eventually watch it.
Finished High School of the Dead and started Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings.
I saw SB: SK. I thought it was good, but great. It felt a lot like the games, but animated instead. I didn't think it had much story, but I'd have to re-watch.
Katanagatari is too damn expensive
Tell me about it. I've considered it, but it would not be cheap.

I finished it as well. The ending was absolutely perfect; I wouldn't change anything about it. It was an amazing show, and I can't wait for Funimation to release it on Blu-ray.

Actually, Funimation still has the licenses for Black Lagoon, Hellsing Ultimate, and Shakugan no Shana. They apparently intend to re-release them "but not for a while."

Yeah, I did manage to find When they cry at a decent price but so far 70 is the lowest for just one season of black lagoon, so I think I'll hold out for awhile to see if FUnimation does a rerelease. Meanwhile I think Ill try completing my gundam and kenshin collections.

I'm watching high school of the dead right now - about 6 episodes in.

While the fanservice is kind of over the top to the point of being distracting (you really fight zombies wearing nothing but an apron? Really?) I have to say I'm enjoying the show as a whole. I really liked the arc with the police on the bridge.

I wonder if they're ever going to make a sequel to High School of the Dead. I may just start reading the manga, I already picked up the first volume of it when it first came out.

I'm in the middle of too much manga right now though. I want to get back to buying xxxHolic which I stopped around volume 8, I think 18 is out now, so it's been years since I bought a new volume of that. I think the series has finally ended in Japan, so that's a little comforting.

I also stopped We Were There awhile ago (although, I'm currently only 1 behind on that because it went on hiatus for awhile). I have the first two volumes of Bokurano and Bunny Drop (I've already read all of Bokurano, so I'm not too concerned about it). And I just got the first volume of Sailor Moon today (which is now my #1 priority as far as manga goes).

At least I've managed to finish Shugo Chara.
Im now watching baka and test.
that series is awesome as is the second season so far. i like strange animes like that btw does anyone know how far naruto and bleach animes are into the manga storylines?

Okay I need some help finding out the name of a certain manga. When I was in camden in London during the summer I went into this comic book shop and found this really interesting sounding manga.

I think it was about a man that gets on a train going home from work, but he gets off the train at the station being a younger version of himself? In like his old hometown..

I just can't remember the title but I really want to check it out! Anyone have any ideas?
