Dang. I saw you and Kuga on something called DICE, then I got all excited.

For those wanting to get in still, subscriber keys are still available, AKA you need IGN insider, Fileplanet subscription or something called Founders Club.

Its up, I was just playing it. Its alot like COD IMO. For some reason though whenever it says 'Defenders Win' or 'Attackers win' my system locks up. Bad d/l?

-Tank controls are awful. You use the left trigger to accelerate, forgot how you back up. Should have stuck with the same controls as BF2 MC and Frontlines.

-Changing weapons is a chore. For example, I chose the assault class. You start out with a machine gun, if you want to change to the grenade launcher you hav to press the right bumper. To switch to grenades (you dont throw them automatically, you have to switch to them), you have to press the left bumper. Gets annoying when your in the middle of a firefight.

-The destructible environments are really good though. Was hiding behind a stone wall while shooting my grenade launcher at this oncoming tank and it just plows through the wall and took me out.

Thats it for now. I'll try again later, hopefully it gets better.
 
I'm loving the game so far. And as far as I can tell, only gold rush is in the beta.


And there are ten weapons you have to buy with real money, and it says only 5 come with the Gold Edition of the game
 
I haven't played it yet, and I'm not knocking it, but I have to say, the whole gold rush thing seems like ridiculously contrivied.
 
Just played it...meh. Too dark, and i have my TV's brightness set up fairly high because of this game and it's still too dark. No voice chat? I couldn't figure out how to communicate so it was fairly quite. Overall...no impressed. Might rent it for the single player simply because of the 90% destructible environments is pretty cool (blew up a few trees and houses and got kills)...but yeah, disappointing.
 
Anyone been able to get a game recently? The server's seem to have died, and there is a new scroll saying heavy server load. Guess I'm not gonna get to try this before work.
 
So I go to sleep because the servers aren't up. I get up, try to connect.. "Joining game".. then back to the main menu. Server load or not, this is EA, there shouldn't be any server issues. I could understand if it was THQ or something, but come on.

You can't take a key once it's already in use.

I could understand server stability, but my point is, EA is a huge company that's done betas before. They've worked with the 360 servers and can handle demand. Lag and stuff would be understandable, but completely down is crazy. I would think that they could handle the demand.

Kinda like the Capcom fiasco with Resident Evil Outbreak.. they anticipated a server load of 125,000 on release weekend, instead, they got 750,000, leaving the servers down for a few days.

Correct me if im wrong, but I am under the impression chat will be similar to frontlines - squad style. So, has anyone got into a game since I posted earlier (post271) that I couldn't join any games.

The "BETA" is actually pretty good. Remember it's "BETA" meaning they will improve it. I think it plays pretty smooth and tyhe graphics are great.

Give it a shot......
 
I find it pretty fun. However the game is quite dark for me which is definitely not something I enjoy, especially when there are many buildings where it's pretty much pitch black inside of them.

Freaking hell, my keyboard went back a page and lost all the typing. Anyways, what I think is going on is that since EA usually hosts the servers, they are only allowing so many open at the moment and getting into one is pretty much luck based. DICE mentioned that they're opening more servers soon.


Also it sucks that they've disabled friend invites and such in the beta. Pretty much just ruined my entire beta experience by forcing me to play with random strangers all the time unless my friends and I get lucky and end up in the same game on the same team. Wish custom games would let you pick servers... -_-

And I like DICE's excuse that MS said they couldn't have invites because it's a beta. So that's why you could play with friends in the Halo 3 beta & CoD4 beta
