Thanks to Taco5 for posting next weeks ad, which confirms the sale will begin on 1/8 & last through 1/28.

Offer excludes Music titles but any TV/Blu-Ray movie priced $9.99 or higher is included.
I think when Sunday rolls around if you just go to the BB site and sort the BR by price.

Here is a link to all the $9.99 movies. It's actually the $7.99-9.99 price, but sorted high to low.

Here is a link to all the $10-$14.99 movies sorted by low to high.
Did you show them the ad? it cleary reads ANY BLU RAY priced $9.99 and higher.

I don't understand what is so hard.

While we know how it is supposed to work, I re-read the ad to see how clear it is.

The ad clearly states to see customer service for the list of movies and for more information. So either stores are making up rules because they dislike this promotion or they have no clue how it works. But based on the ad it seems like they think they can make stipulations up.

No kidding. "So the ad shows I can trade things in for the Boardwalk Empire blu-ray, but I can only trade in the Boardwalk Empire DVD to get that discount, and that DVD came out today too? Explain how that makes any sense please."

Anyone try a non-movie title or a HD-DVD?

I have some DVDs that have UPCs though don't have DVD cases and wanted to see if those might work.

I checked on the www.bestbuy.com/upgradeandsave link and all it lists are the movie titles supposedly part of the promotion. No information about what they take or anything like that. The ad flier has more info about that than the website, which is pretty pathetic.

Oddly enough, most of the titles on the website that are part of the promotion aren't the ones that are listed in the ad, especially the newer titles.

If it has a UPC, they take it. They're not scanning it and entering it in a database. They're just giving you credit for having a DVD. They'll scan a barcode and it'll say that you traded in a DVD. No other specifics.

I've used sports DVDs.

I don't think those are the only movies you can buy.

I got Kill Bill yesterday and the movie is not on the list.

best idea yet.

at the link they show it working on the departed. which is only 8

the Departed thing has been brought up already. That list online doesn't mean anything. Its just on titles $9.99 on up. You could try arguing for the Departed with that list but don't expect it to work.

o i know. i was just saying that for the people who are given a list, that should be on the list. i know it shouldnt work on it. the above line was meant sarcastically.

Last time around I took in an hd dvd and they took it. Could depend on the store, but it would be worth trying.

I went and picked up a couple of movies from Dollar Tree over the weekend. May go back and get some more.

I already have Boardwalk Empire BBY excl. on order for in-store pick up. I will probably just do a return/rebuy to save the $5. Hoping to find Cape Fear in stock also. Wasn't showing up as available at my store yesterday, but I know that could just mean that they have < 3 copies in stock.

Just throwing this out there, but the ad says "$9.99 and up. Choose from over 135 titles". Then the link directs to a list of 61 titles. But if you look closely, the search includes the string Upgrade_and_Save_20110108.

That's 2011, not 2012.

Maybe it's nothing, but BB sure doesn't have a clue what they're doing with this promotion.

grrr, I got some Fitness DVD and Baby Einstein DVD to trade in, I'll be pissed if they give me any hassle, or expect me to upgrade to blu on those. It worked flawlessly at two stores the first time for me, didn't participate the second time..

Picked up Alien, Aliens and Three Amigos.
$8 each after trade-in.

I'll be watching Three Amigos first.

"Would you say I have a plethora of pinatas?"

Yes El Guapo. You have a plethora of piñatas.
The first time I did this, I traded in 5 dvd's.... I got NO receipt ..they just took it and gave me the coupons...this was AFTER I won an argument with the CSR and manager who claimed the promo was ON LINE ONLY or This store doesn't do it or the promo starts next week...even though I pointed out the ad promoting it in the CURRENT WEEK's AD!

I have talked to corp. about this and they were clueless as well.... no one knows how to do this promo?

Now it's confusing... so are they suppose to give me the trade in value + the 5 dollar coupon or just the 5 dollar coupon? so if the dvd is 2.50 trade in value, then I get that plus the 5 dollar coupon?
You're only going to get a recycling receipt if you live in certain states. I don't know al of them, but I believe California is one. That has to do with state laws though, and not with Best Buy directly.

I did my part to eliminate some more fullscreen DVDs this weekend. I too used two of my coupons to pick up Alien and Aliens. I'm hoping for a sale on Futurama volume 6 before 01/28, as well as a couple cheap blu ray sales. I thought about Super 8 at $14.99 after coupon, but I'm still holding out hope that Blockbuster puts them out at some point during their sale.

Um no...

This promotion "requires" a recycle receipt. The issue is most employees either don't know or don't care. They are supposed to print out a receipt that lists how many movies you traded in. They don't list what the movies are, just the quantity. The reason for this is people have been known to copy the coupons and use them. The receipt shows proof of trade in at time of purchase equal to the # of DVDs traded in.

Shows what I know. I assumed it was something similar to appliance recycling requirements, although that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

Regardless, not every Best Buy is issuing them. So again, you're not necessarily going to get a recycling receipt.

I traded in 5 today and picked up Super 8, Fright Night, Our Idiot Bro, and Warrior for $53+tax. My store (Rockaway, NJ) gave me the recycled receipt and 5 physical coupons that had to be activated on the trade-in transaction. When I bought my 4 movies, I just handed over the 4 coupons and didn't need to provide the recycled receipt. I'm going to go back tomorrow and trade in 3 more and pick up Moneyball and Boardwalk Empire. I'll have 2 coupons left and I'm not sure what I'll use them on. Has anyone had any luck using the coupons in conjunction with a PM? I was thinking of PMing Bambi from Target so I could get it for $15. I know the coupons say "not valid with any other bundles or discounts" but clearly they work with on-sale movies.

Did they have to override and match their online Price on Super 8, or did it just ring up at $19.99? The ones in my local stores are still labeled at $30.

The ad actually has conflicting information on the various pages that mention the Trade and Save promo. I don't have it in front of me, but I recall the back page mentioning a list of qualifying bluray titles (i.e. the list of over 150 qualifying titles, listed at www.bestbuy.com/tradeandsave - which as noted only contains sixty some odd titles, and the link is the old list from the last time the promo ran in November).

Then in the interior of the ad, I think it was pages 10/11, it mentions that it works on ALL blu rays $9.99 and up...then shortly after that states to check the website for the list, LOL.

In any case, the coupons on generic so you can photocopy them (surprised nobody has posted a scan of the coupon), although as noted previously you might be required to present the original trade in receipt. Just keep the original receipt every time you use the coupons and you should be fine. I've never been asked for the original trade in receipt and my photocopied coupons work fine.

The register should ring it out at the sale price of $19.99.

Yep. Generation kill was still labeled as 57.99 and didn't have a label for the new price but it rang in at 24.99, as it was online. I had the page up just in case I needed it though

I traded in one movie and 4 sex and the city episode compilations. I think they'll take just about anything non porn

It just rang up $19.99. The regular shelf location didn't have a sale tags out for the movies I bought but they had some on a display towards the front of the store which had the tags for the sale prices.

Was the movie se7en on sale last week? According to Blu ray.com it is 10.99 on best buy, but bb.com has it for 24.99. Did I miss that sale?

Pretty sure the version that's the book package is $10.99 and the regular Blu-Ray case version is more. They've been trying to clear the book editions out the last few months.
Is there something wrong with the book? I saw plenty at my store and if they're 10.99 I'll definitely get it
Nope, some people just prefer cases.

Earlier today I was able to pick up The Departed for $2.99 after the trade-in discount :D That said, YMMV quite a bit on this one, even though it's listed as part of the Upgrade & Save program:

Given the current $7.99 sale price on The Departed, the computer wouldn't accept the DVD trade-in coupon. A manager asked if it was OK to override the price to $9.99 in order to have the computer take it - $4.99 seemed reasonable so I had him go ahead with it. After overriding the price to $9.99, the coupon dropped it down to $2.99. He checked the final total and despite it being lower than expected, said he was OK with the sale. Best of luck to anyone else who tries it out - being friendly definitely helped in this situation!

Unfortunately, you just missed out on se7en as the sale for a majority of the WB Digibook Blu-rays ended on January 7th. They have surprisingly been on sale since Black Friday and as someone else pointed out BB may be trying to clear out their stock of them.

Could shrike/another mod or the OPer update the OP with those links please?

BTW, anyone know if this Vengeance movie is any good? NVM found the correct entry for it on IMDB. Plot sounds interesting...but still not sure it's worth $5 AC LOL.

Finally got in on the deal, picked up Apollo 13, Knocked Up, Smoking Aces and 40 Year Old Virgin all for $21 (they all come with the blu-ray, the dvd version and the the digital copy :D)

Just did my upgrade with ease. Walked into the BB and handed customer service my DVDs. They gave me the coupons which came on hardstock paper. They didn't give me a receipt or even ask for it during my purchase. The $5 was taken off automatically off the two blurays I purchased. Neither of which are the ones advertised.
The Departed is $7.99. The deal is for $9.99 and up. It will not work. I don't know why it's included on the site, or why it's on any list.. or why there's even a list. The coupon works on anything priced $9.99 and up.

I'm going to have to cave and get Tucker and Dale for $15 tomorrow after coupon. I just watched it on Netflix - holy crap, it's hilarious.
I agree on Tucker and Dale. I caught it on HDNet Movies before it was released. Still have it on the dvr to watch again. If it was $10 after coupon, I'd get it.

Wait, what? Knocked Up, Smoking Aces and 40 Year Old Virgin never shipped with BR/DVD/DC combo packs.

/edit: Apparently Universal re-issued a lot of blu's the past two weeks and added DVD's and DC's to them.. so I stand corrected, I apologize.

Unfortunately se7en was full price at BB. So I ended up getting:

Inglorious Bastards
The fast and the furious
2 fast 2 furious
fast and furious
District 9

$37 and change

For anyone that has Se7en and a PS3, does the movie work on it? There are some reviews on amazon about it not working on some players including ps3's

I had no issues playing it on my PS3 when I first got it. I have an older 60 gig one though.

How? Four of those five should've been $5, and District 9 is $10 (all after coupon).. that's $30. Why $37? Did you get overcharged?

The Fast and the Furious is 14.99 online and in store. Where did you see it for 9.99? Bluray.com says the BB price is 12.99 so its probably just fluctuated.
So you just take a DVD up there And get the coupon? Gonna pickup BWE and possibly 40 YOV
Yes just take them to CS and trade them in.

Oh, whoops. I thought all of the F&F titles were $9.99 this week. The first F&F is the only one that isn't. Could've sworn it said $9.99 earlier.

I'm pretty sure it did. I almost picked it up yesterday because I remember seeing it for $9.99 on sale. Sucks to hear it isn't anymore.

Well crap...I thought I saw it at that price too. I was surprised it was more expensive. It was more of an impulse buy than anything. I really only went in there for se7en, inglorious, and maybe one other thing.

Count me in as someone who thought they saw F&F 1 for $10 before coupon. I thought for sure I saw it earlier today on their site.

I just saw the movie. I rented it but it was a regular Blu-ray which played fine.

The Fast & the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and Fast & Furious were definitely $9.99 last week at Best Buy. I had them on my watch list. Not sure about Tokyo Drift.

wow these employees have no idea what they are doing with this promo. I brought in 5 movies and they gave me 5 of those coupons with no recycling reciept and they didn't even scan the movies in. I got my deals but man they just have no clue what they are doing.

I figured I'd save myself the trouble last night and found the blu-rays I wanted before I went to CS, and when I got there she just counted the DVDs, scanned the same coupon 5 times and sold me the blus. Easy peasy.

I like the deal this time more than last time since we can pick any blurays $9.99 and up. I found 4 or 5 I will pick up. Now since I traded so many dvds last time, hopefully I have more crap to trade in this time. I wish they accepted disc only, since I have like 30 shitty disc only movies I got from an old movie store I worked at that closed.
