I can't wait to pick up both Transformers and Iron Man in September. I'll be buying the combo from Amazon for $52.90 shipped. Both of them are two-disc special editions as well.
Has anyone heard if DEXTER is planned to hit Blu-Ray soon?
Man, that cartoon was the greatest. Dee Dee, get out of my laboratory.

Yea, i know, you're talking about "Morgan". While it would be nice to re-watch on Blu-ray, I would rather have a 3rd season now that they've revealed that Doakes is still alive.
Familyvideo has nice prices. Do they ever have coupons for a percentage off?
I think either GAMEPRO or GAMEPRO7 is a free shipping code.

That's how I got my Texas Chainsaw Massacre Blu-Ray for $8.34
that's a lot of stuff, but $40 is still too much for a movie.
Retail price aren't the same as Sales price you see at stores.

Don't worry, it will be 29.99 or less!

Man, I want some BIG BOGOs in Holiday!!!
Um what!? How could he be alive!???
I think he means he wishes Doakes was still alive. I have to agree, although I don't see how they could have done it.
As for the Blu-Ray, it's got to be coming. I think Dexter has turned out to be a pretty decent hit for Showtime so hopefully season sets of it & The Tudors are coming to N.A. soon. What I want to know though is when it HBO going to get on ball with their BDs? One season of the Sopranos (in 2 stupid parts no less) and Band of Brothers this fall. Where are my seasons of Rome & Deadwood, HBO? Hopefully the BD of Generation Kill is day and date with the DVD, whenever that is.

Man, I would kill for a Blu-ray box set of the complete Six Feet Under, but I'll be damned if I'm giving them any more of my money for that show!

Yeah, I agree man. I almost kind of hope that The Wire doesn't show up on Blu-Ray just because I've spent so much on it for SD seasons. It's probably the only show I'd buy twice. I held off on Deadwood & Rome, Lost and Dexter and other shows because I know the BDs are coming eventually.
...and the other 3?
I'm new to Blu-Ray and want to ask a noob question. Is there a noticeable difference when old movies are released on Blu-Ray?

depends on the quality of the source film... take a look at 2001: A Space Oddesey... filmed in 65 or 66? looks amazing in hi-def

Clockwork Orange doesnt look as good... and some newer stuff doesn't look as good, it all depends...

take a look at hidefdigest.com reviews for picture quality

Thanks to them I didn't waste money on Robocop

As long as they'e available separately from the travesty that is Indy4 I'll be happy.
As long as they'e available separately from the travesty that is Indy4 I'll be happy.
And a worthwhile upgrade from the DVD versions, as well.

Yes, it depends on the movie, but it's mainly yes. Film has a higher resolution than 1080p so it's possible to pull a HD transfer from it.

I fucking hate region coding. Turns out my UK Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, which says on the back of the case is All Regions, is actually region B!

I'm glad I have something like AnyDVD to break that but there goes my plan of letting my Dad borrow it to watch on his new HD setup :/
Fix'd.
Snap! Thanks for doing mine too. It totally slipped my mind that that's a pretty big spoiler. :whistle2:# :wall:

Got Transformers BD today.

Can't fucking wait to watch this one tomorrow. Gonna be fun comparing it to the HD DVD.

So far, from other reviewers, PQ is the same (even with Michal Bay bitching the BD was superior) and the Audio is better (though it remains to be seen how much).

I'm pretty sure that the double dip version of Transformers with the IMAX extra footage will show up a month or so before Transformers: Rise Of The Fallen hits theaters next year, so I'll wait.

I'm glad I saw a bit of Transformers a few weeks back.

Saves me the $20 I'd pay to see that corny piece of crap on BD. Wow, what an awful movie (tho' good eye candy).

In more "pot-kettle" news, I'm totally stoked about Bond on Blu-Ray. I'm upset, however, that they're already double-dipping Casino Royale.

Casino Royale with Cheese?
That's the same as the Casino Quarter Pounder, right? ;)
No, they got the metric system there, they wouldn't know what the fuck a Quarter Pounder is.
What'd they call it?
Royale with Cheese.
Royale with Cheese. What'd they call a Big Mac?
Big Mac's a Big Mac, but they call it Le Big Mac.
Le Big Mac. What do they call a Whopper?
I dunno, I didn't go into a Burger King.

Gizmo, can you confirm that inside the new Transformers BD is a flier for, among others, a 2 Disc BD of Zodiac coming? Just want to be sure as I had been planing to import the dutch one, but I think I can wait if it's "coming soon" here anyway.

I'll do better then that:

Enjoy!

P.S. The "rumored" date is later October....but it (and Stardust) may get pushed into November or December depending on, well, issues. It will be a carbon copy of the HD DVD (except with a TrueHD track). Old School will probably come out the same day as Elf and Fred Clause to tie in with Farrell and Vaughn.

Aweome man, thanks a bunch for that. Also, does the back of the Transformers box say that all the supplements are in HD? That's what it looks like. Not sure if that was the case with HD-DVD or not.

Yes. Just like the HD DVD version, everything is in HD. The BD just makes it more apparent by adding HD after the special features (listed on the back).

fucking cool

Ooooh, got so excited there I think I just peed a little!
Still my favorite movie ever...needs a proper hi-def treatment. They show it on Cinemax every once in a while in HD and it looks good but they never show it in 5.1 for some reason. It's such a great score - can't wait for some great audio.
10/21 - Sin City, From Dusk 'til Dawn
Actually, according to TheDigitalBits....

While we're on the subject of Buena Vista, there have been a lot of reports around the Net that the studio is planning to release Sin City on Blu-ray Disc on 10/21. That's a big negatory, folks. We've checked with the studio and have officially learned that the title has been pushed back into 2009, along with Finding Nemo. Just so you know... you know?

And of course it still wont be an extended cut

and as for Sin City...
Actually, according to TheDigitalBits....
