well regardless I jus got the hole saws off ebay.

2 of them plus the arbor or whatever.... it's a little less than $16 before shipping, and I'ma wait for the combined shipping invoice before I pay the dood.

and yeay, I'ma take another pic and throw it up on here and SRK... there's already a thread about hole sizes/spacing etc.
The Pinkerton photo is perfect, Darthpuma. That large space in the black sky is perfect room for the buttons and joystick. If you use In the Aeroplane, the buttons will cut off most of the art work. I have another white box in the making, might go good with OK Computer's album art.

That is crazy talk Jekki but it might be true because those measurements are right. Start a thread up in SRK and see what others have to say.
Good to hear! How will I size it to fit my stick without making it looked stretched?

Do you guys get this shit printed at kinko's? Special paper?

I used photo shop to stretch out my pic. Then used advanced photo paper, set my home printer to the proper settings and printed it. It was just big enough to fit. If it wouldn't print large enough; then yeah, go to Kinko's.

Edit: Most pics surprisingly stretch out pretty well. Here the original size of the photo I used:

It's about the same size as your Pinkerton photo. See the nice gap in the middle for the buttons and joystick?

Good, hole saw bits are the only way to go. Also, to remove small amounts of Lexan, I recommend a Dremel and sanding bit. All stick makers should have a Dremel; they are incredibly useful.

Hey guys, I want to dual-mod my HRAP2. What is the best 360 controller to use for this?

I'm going to pick one up from gamestop. Isn't the gamestop brand a madcatz? How can i tell if its the right one?

This is the one you want.

Older white one dated 2006 doesn't have common ground.

I'll have to download the trial of photoshop and play around with it so I can get a feel of how to do that stuff.

My printer was like 20 bucks so I don't trust it to make shit look nice. I'll get it done at kinko's.

EDIT:
With a black background like that, should I go white buttons or black buttons?

Quick question. What are the differences between Hori's Real Arcade Pro EX and the Street Figther IV Tournament Edition stick? They both have Sanwa buttons and joystick right?

the HRAP EX has a sanwa stick but not sanwa buttons. i don't know how easy it is to swap out.

---

i bought a sanwa stick and buttons so i could send them to akuma001 for the mod on an EX2 but i'm still playing HD remix and i don't know if i could part with it for a week or two =X

Does Akuma001 only do EX mods?

Was wondering who I could speak (and pay! :)) to in order to get my T5 stick gutted, replaced with Sanwa parts and artwork/panel relacement.
Black goes good with anything. I would go white to match the snow.
Okay good to know. I'm excited for christmas so I can do this.

Oh damn! The blue buttons and stick + kula art ex2 is sexy!

I was thinking about getting an HRAP3 and then buying one of those viewlix panel thingies and setting it up like that, assuming I somehow stumble upon like 150 bucks extra somewhere.

Is that all that hard to do?

Well, while you're upgrading take the top cover and use it as a stencil for whatever art you need. Just scan that to your computer and work off that I'd say. The rest is pretty much self explanatory. Warning though, if you want to keep the default FS3 sticker, don't mod it. Mine at the moment is barebones since I really don't have any art in mind and it doesn't look horrible with the top plate showing.

there is a guy on srk who makes custom vewlix style panels to fit in hrap series sticks.

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=164519

would be about as easy as unscrewing a few screws and bolts, removing some quick disconnects, popping out the buttons and stick and then putting all the parts on the new panel and putting it all back together.
You guys know of a good way I could apply art to a HFS3 I'm upgrading?
if its just laminated art the easiest way to apply it would be to get spray on adhesive and spray evenly to the back of your cut laminated art, line up everything and stick the art on the plate and then use some kind of can/cylinder to roll over the applied art to smooth everything out and then let dry and then and then and then and then your done and then.

That's a neat idea. I've cut the Lexan myself before and drilled stick mounting holes in the metal plate, but those things are both a complete pain in the ass. Too bad Vocal makes them so infrequently...

I know this has been documented elsewhere, but if I wanted to improve the joystick in a Hori Fighting Stick EX 2 without actually removing the stick, would adding an octagonal gate be the only option? Are there any special steps involved in doing so?

Also, would snap-in or screw-in buttons be the way to go with the default PCB??

Hey MarkMan, how tall are the bases for the SFIV sticks? They look taller than the EX2, but shorter than the Nuby tech SFAC's base. Are they comfortable for "sitting on the floor" play?
You can change out the default EX2 microswitches to HAPP cherry microswitches or Japanese Omron microswitches.
Hmm, where would I get the Omron switches from? WOuld there be a noticeable improvement in control?

The Omron switches are the ones used in Sanwa sticks. Akihabarashop.jp sells them without the pcb. To find it, select a Sanwa stick and in the drop down menu goto MS-0-2P.

I also made vewlix art in photoshop. The template can be adjusted to fit different button configs. Thread is here...

Quite possibly. I might end up dishing out the dough for both versions though. My wallet hates my SF fanboyism.

Thank you very much. I'm going to try looking for it today :applause:

I wish i could make a stick with just 1-cord coming out the back. It seems like only HRAP3 version can do this (akuma001 mod).

Hmmm. Don't the newer 360 wireless controllers have common ground?

I might stick these adhesive clips on the back (a few bucks for a pack at Target; meant for hanging Christmas lights) to keep everything together!

No problem. Here's the list.. I tried to use an earlier wireless PCB, but I think I fried it because it has like 4 different grounds. Newer ones have common ground. So beware.

I could never understand why the arcade sticks are never wireless. Anychance in the SF sticks being wireless when they come out?

Nope.

For serious play, I wouldn't want a wireless arcade stick.

But I wouldn't mind owning one.

O wait, I do!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm planning on modding my EX-2 and have two quick questions for you guys.

Would getting a square Sanwa gate reduce the throw on the stick? Stock it feels like the stick has 3mm or so of extra throw after hitting the microswitch. I would also like the stick to have a little bit more resistance, are there any known springs that work with this stick?

In case anyone missed the recent Major Nelson podcast... Capcom's Seth "s-kill" Killian was on the podcast and talked a good bit about Street Fighter history, HD remix, and very briefly about the arcade stick.

Listen to the interview and you can hear the part where he whips it out (pun intended).

cue porn music.

Seth gets on the show at about 1 hour and 20 minutes into the podcast....

Enjoy!

I don't think that putting a sanwa square gate would have a significant effect on the throw.

I believe thats the way the sticks are designed, because it takes less, albeit more precise at times, total movement to be able to pull out some crazy stuff.

woot! I forgot about slagcoin.

I just realized that i have a Microsoft dual-platform wireless controller. These are the ones that say they are PC and 360 compatible. Are these common ground? Has anyone modded them?
