but understand that adding an extra button to facilitate a new function changes the way you play the game.
think 5 key beatmania, u can get hella good at the game but then you're introduced to IIDX, all they did was add 2 more keys and yet u gotta completely change the way you play the game.
you may think adding an extra button may make things easier but it actually does not. As a joystick player I am conditioned to use arcade standards, I dont think about what buttons I press when I play, everything comes natural.
If I were to add an extra button to perform a function that serves to be a shortcut to something I already know how to do on reaction and impulse, it causes you to think and thus screws up your gaming thought process and execution completely. It would take lots of practice to get accustomed to this new button as you would be learning how to do something you already do easily, but do it in a completely different way now.
macro buttons for using game controllers is a must. My friend learned to play MvC2 at a tournament level with a PS2 pad, but he uses a single button to dash. Without that, you could NOT play high level MvC with a gamepad. The whole point of transitioning from a pad to a stick is to remove the necessity to map multiple buttons to a single one, of course in addition to taking advantage of a different directional input.
