Ahh...that's where we were missing it...yes, I should have typed Mod not Custom. My apologies for the confusion.

And the $40 was a ballpark on a stick, gate, and 6 buttons for the EX2.

Just finished throwing in a Cthulhu in a 360 TE. The stick is brand new, I got it mainly to test if I could do it, I never even got to try it stock on the 360 LOL... I also used an imp kit and wired it so that I could use the BACK/SELECT button to switch to the PS3. I found it much easier to hold the BACK/SELECT button than the guide button when switching to the PS3.

I got plexi on the top but didn't change the artwork, I like the stock look but didnt want my stock art getting scratched to hell like on my PS3 TE.

P.S. Anyone wanna buy it? this the 5th TE I got...
You need to change that artwork Anubis, you did all that work and left it stock
It's a sleeper.

Also, I posted an article I wrote about custom Virtual On sticks. I figure since you guys are enthusiasts, I'd put a courtesy link in here as well, as I'm sure you guys would appreciate this stuff, even though it's not specifically fighting game controls....though VOOT could be *loosely* considered a fighting game I guess.

OK, here's what I made for my JLF. It's not for fighters, obviously, but it is for an arcade! 4-way mode all the way!!!! WOO HOO!!!!

The instruction card obviously goes underneath the plastic control panel overlay but you get the idea from these pictures. There is also a thin layer of protective plastic over the... um, overlay which will look a lot crisper once it is removed.
Aww but stock is boring. Good job on the installation though!
Dude, not everyone can have the badass bomberman art like you do. I'm jealous of that everytime I see one of your posts.

+1 on that, my photoshop skills are limited to the art I can find
Javeryh, that looks very nice.
Thanks - I'm hoping when I have an original DK cabinet in my living room later this year I'll finally be able to challenge Steve Weibe. OK, that's a lie - I just hope I'll be able to break 100,000 some day - I'm so close!!

I'm in awe of some of the mad skillz on display in this thread. I wish I knew how to even make a straight line in Photoshop...

Just Sanwa'd out my SE stick. Works great! Still haven't gotten my TE from Capcom store that I ordered on 1/27, but I think I'm happy with this.

360 TE bought from BB $164.48 (shipping and tax got it to $164.48)
Cthulhu PS3 PCB $26
IMP switch $15

That was pretty much everything, it gets up there pretty fast.

Same here. I keep telling myself that I'll get up and running with a stick one of these days. I should just start with the Street Fighter Anny mod and go from there.

EDIT -- Is there any way to mod a SF Anny or the Tekken 5 sticks to work with the PS3?

Put a cthulhu in it or use a sixaxis & axisdaptor for wireless. I have modded both the SF Anniversary and the Tekken 5 sticks into wireless PS3 sticks

Can cthulu be used to make a T5 stick so it has an option for PS3 wireless as well as PS2 wired?

So, I've got this SE stick. New JLF stick and wiring harness work when i put them in my TE stick to test. So my problem is obviously the guts of the stick. What is the name of the part I would need to get this thing working? I assume it's the board the harness plugs into.

@ Danny8k

Buttons are Seimitsu PS-14-KN pushbuttons ( yellow ) and that is just a Seimitsu LB-39 clear ball top. ( orange ).

@ mjwhitay

That depends, what kind of stick did you get to replace it with? Need a model number to really say what could be causing you trouble.

Thanks for the quick answer. A few more questions for you:

1. Which mod is easier Cthulhu or the Sixaxis/axisadaptor?

2. Which stick would be easier to mod? If I did the Anny stick, I'd replace the buttons and stick but I'm pretty happy with the stock buttons on the T5 stick for right now.

3. How is the battery life and do you still charge the stick with a mini USB cable?

They are both pretty easy, they both both can be put in the there without soldering, you would have to replace the buttons and stick on the Hori. Battery life is great, haven't charged my TE in over 2 weeks and it still going strong.

Now I'm really loving the $60 HRAP3 find!
Has anyone heard anything from Sony about the TE stick working with PS2 games being added to an upcoming Sony PS3 firmware update?
What firmware update? Are they making PS2 games playable on all PS3s?
What firmware update? Are they making PS2 games playable on all PS3s?
MarkMan said for the MadCatz products (pad/SE/TE) to work on original PS3's when you're playing PS2 games on it, it would have to be included in one of Sony's firmware updates for the system.

He said some of the Hori products got that patch and we would have to bug Sony about it as it was out of MadCatz control. I made a thread in Sony's forums but since the vast majority of PS3's out there right now aren't the original model there's very little noise about it.

I was curious about the upcoming SFA3 release on PSN as I would love to have a copy of that game that I can play on my TE.

Question.. I bought a JLF-TP-8Y for my PS3 fightstick cause I heard it was a good stick and my old plate got stripped cause the screws were to delicate. What replacement plate do I need to install this stick? I tried one plate which said it was for that stick but it didn't work... Would be very happy to find the plate I need so I can piece this back together.

The cheap xbox 360 arcade sticks are showing up out of china now, theres multiple designs on ebay now from different companies. Once one of them does a PS3/360 in one stick, i'll bite and then swap the guts to a actual arcade stick and nicer parts. Cmon el cheapo chinese special!
