has anyone seen a tier list for Alpha 3 Max yet? Im more curious than anything else but i really wanted to see if anything changed

thanks, I'll have to work on it more when I get the PS2 version (hopefully there's a training mode.) I just tried it for a while and didn't hit it once! so you have to buffer in the move, is that what it's called?
 
yeah i guess... to be honest, i have no idea what buffer actually means. maybe rodimus or rolento can elaborate more on it's meaning.



mame snk games also have a training mode. ..well most of them do. just hit tab during the game and go to dipswitches adn change the version setting or something like that from arcade to home. then reset and it should work.



and about the alpha 3 max tiers, i really want to know where ingrid falls in that list. I thought she was really cheap in capcom fighting jam with those long counter frame count.

Entering the commands for one move while your character is still in the animation of another move, so the second move comes out as soon as the animation ends

i just dont understand the muscle men... but yeah... buffering is basicly using one move to flow into another move... it's pretty much the key thing to exploit most combo systems in fighters.

opponent knocked down in corner: s. lk (whiffs), buffer 360+p


the animation of the kick keeps him from jumping during 360 motion
 
Gigan - You probably buffer all the time, and don't even know it. Anyways you were talking earlier about using Vanessa, I'd like to help but I never really picked her up. She is an intresting character though, for a girl that is.

There's a really easy way to get Zangief to never jump during 360 motion. I always had problems with it until recently, and then someone told me about the secret to doing them but I didn't believe it till I tried for myself. Now I can do 360's every time w/o ever jumping. Just do

HCB (F,DF,D,DB,B) and then tap U + punch

Skip over the UB command. If you need any additional help feel free to ask, but seriously try that works everytime. It's sick.

Zangief's "non jump" 360 motion take alittle practice, but it can be done if you pull it off fast enough. I amazed a couple friends with that technique also. It's kinda hard to write down how to do it, or even explain it.

even more great news! thanks jimfoley. I usually do my 360 motions after a jump (which is very predictable) and this is the first time i've heard of this technique. looks like i'll be practicing this one later tonight ( hopefully agaisnt someone else, if they're wiling;) )

I have never been any good with Zangief or any other character that requires a 360 motion.

No prob, glad to help. I'm just glad I found this thread, because I didn't really think that any CAG's were serious about fighters but I was wrong.

While on the subject of 360 characters, anyone have any tips on getting double 360's to work? I've been getting them buffered out of Zangief's Burning Palm but it's starting to get predictable. Any other good buffers for these moves?
 
in SFA3, I LOVE to do it during the recovery roll (ask rolento ;)) I try not to do it too often as it becomes very predictable. the banishing palm is a great start-up for the FAB, and i think a jumping early lk will do the trick too, although i'm not too sure.
 
The double 360's are kinda tough to connect without jumping, cause you have to be close, and you can't combo it, it just won't connect. For some reason the grab will wiff if they're in a hit animation. In MVC 2 it could be done but that's only cause he moves forward.

I just wait for an opening, but you already know that. Sorry I can't be of more help.

EDIT - I will do a jumping HK in mid air as an air defense, and if my opponent stays on the ground, I'll connect the Final Atomic Buster, but after a couple of these they catach on.
 
for anyone that's adept with mvc2 cable ahvb or st sagat tiger knees, if you're comfortable with the tiger knee motion, then that works as well

hcf,uf+punch or hcb,ub+punch

i use this input when i'm using hugo in 3s, but it works in like everything



as far as 720's, the recommended way of doing them is to just do the motion really fast

you're not actually required to do 720.. just 540 and it still comes out, so a popular method if you're having trouble doing full spins that fast on the joystick is to do this: f,df,d,db,b,ub,df,d,db,b+p

this should work is because if you're doing it at the correct speed, a super jump will input, and super jumps have more frames than a regular jump.. the super will activate before hugo is up in the air.. it takes some practice and i still can't do it consistently

then there's always the walking 720, where you "store" one 360, walk up a step, and pull off another 360 and it comes out as a 720.. basically whiff something (low kick perhaps) and do the previously mentioned tiger knee motion and you'll still be on the ground (with a 270 motion "stored"), then walk up a step and do another tiger knee motion and it activates

this method is okay for mixups, but can't really be used in punishment situations



of course, this is all irrelevent if the competition you're playing against falls for the empty jump-in into a 720 anyway

lol, yeah you raped me with Zangy all night...

Just like alot of other people I can usually only pull off 360s right after a jump, making it too predictable. I tried the Half circle technique, and it works! it's still iffy, for me, but not as badas a reuglar 360... once I get those down I'll work on my double 360s. I really want to be a good birdie fighter, but I just need to work on my overall 2d gaming in general since Neo Geo Battle Coleseum is getting a ton of play over at my college and I am constantly destroyed.

- SNK Playmore will release The King of Fighters Orochi Collection for PS2 in Japan on March 30, which is a collection of KOF95, KOF96 and KOF97 with online battle function.

sounds good to me even though I know the US will never see a release of it.
 
Just a heads up to anyone who has been watching the series, King of Fighters Another Day Episode 4 has been released. Its the final episode and it ties up the series leading into Maximum Impact 2.

lol, sadly all the ones I downloaded were subbed in french so I'm going to have to redownload em all. So far my favorites are the second two episodes... primarily the Team Ikari one with K' and Maximo (due to almost everyone in that episode being a fave of mine).

I would be up for mame, but I've got a homework assignment that is not being nice to me... damn programming in machine code >_<

that brady bunch game is one hell of a stretch, but does look interesting.

The art is quite good indeed. Too bad Vanessa and Kula aren't there too.

I read about the Brady game in Hardcore Gamer Magazine IIRC. It actually has decent ratings too.

same here... that's where I heard it first also. Seems cell phone games are slowly becoming better, which is a given. Wasn't there a cell phone tekken game?
 
I'm down for some MAME action anytime, I use .64k like I'm sure most of you have. AIM me if anyone wants to play whenever, I play pretty much any 2D game (I'm a big Marvel 1 fan)

I'm playing DR right now at home. My god it is amazing. This is the first time I got to truly take a look at the graphics and listen to the new music without any other background noise. Definately the best mix of graphics/sound ever for a Tekken game.

Unbelieveable.

Some cool stuff right there, especially the Metal Slug clone. I am really surprised that dating sims are still a relatively untapped genre in North America. They aren't that much different from other digital comic/adventure games like Snatcher or Space Adventure. Perfect for cellphones too.

watched Ryo vs. Yuri. looks less "spastic" than MI1, which is a big plus. is this coming out for the PS2?

Yeah, just watched it and looks like a huge improvement over the originals. Seems that everyone has low parrys now also (stealing a bit from Tekken 5 I guess). The butterfly chick is um... i don't know...

I'm assuming it's on Ps2, but seeing as it runs on renderware, it'll probably be a xbox release as well.

actually I like Ryo, but I just hope someday SNK changes his name to Mr. Karate and gives him the scruffy beard like in Neo Geo Battle Coleseum... He went from dork to badass on one game.
