CAG Gran Turismo 5 [CAG Race Night - Now Sundays at 6PM PST!]

I highly suggest we enforce penalties this time around. It's not gonna be pretty but if we race how we normally do, and stay away from the top gear track we'll be fine.

That track is horrible to race on with other cars, especially against the AI.

I was going to suggest light/mild for penalties. We can test it out with ramming if anyone is interested I can jump on tonight and we can have some fun.

I myself don't mind it considering I passed all the the Top Gear Special series thing with the greatest of ease. But I can honestly say I avoid it like the plague online because of other people online, not because of the AI, the AI is dumb, it doesn't go out of it's way to put you into a wall or better yet ram you from behind going 80mph.

I'm all for changing the night if need be. Tuesdays aren't really working out for me these days as well. 9:30 - 9:30 kind of sucks, and then to come home and race...I'm all for Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays...

I'll echo that Tuesdays have been pretty terrible for me as well. Usually on Monday we get slammed with stuff from the weekend, Tuesday ends up being whatever was pushed off from Monday and I'm exhausted by night. I'm not picky about the day other than Monday and Tuesday tend to suck the life out of me, I'll gladly do a Monday over a Tuesday though.

Monday and Wednesday will be out for me starting in February. I'm up for some ad-hoc "unofficial" get togethers on the weekends or an occasional weekend race. We could even to "stock" car racing from the online lot for the unofficial races.

What are the odds of setting up a Sunday cup a little earlier than current times like 8 ESTish? I have nothing to do most Sundays. Times could be more flexible but only run like a 3 race schedule if we start later.

Just found out that I work wednesday night, however I will be late to tonights race. Someone else will have to host the room.

I'm cool with Tuesdays. Sunday evening is okay as well. Thursdays are out for me.

However, I might be a little late to tonights races if they happen. I'll take a loss on anything I miss.

If you guys want to postpone this for another week or so, that would be fine. Weekends are out for me however, as I work on the weekends.

So is anyone showing up tonight? I'm up for racing, but if it is going to be a low turnout then I'd rather wait and have a full room next week. Plus that gives us all an extra week to practice :)

If it's only you and i, let's wait until next week. I just got done pulling a 12 so i could use a night off. Plus only one of my cars has been properly upgraded and the charger handles like a bitch.

Yeah, lets save it for next week. I just found "Red Dead Redemption" at a pawn shop today anyway.

...and I love Deep Forest, it's not the best track for 550hp muscle cars though.

WOW, I totally passed out watching family guy, woke up at 12am and thought OH SHIT! I missed the race. And then I come on here and you guy called it off, weird.......

I have a mixed f'd up schedule at work, so I'll take whatever day you guys pick. Weekends sound pretty good though.

Hey everyone, just picked this up yesterday and I have a GT Driving Force in the mail (hopefully arriving soon). Who do I have to add to my friends list to get in on this?

I don't expect to win because I'm still a bit sloppy but CAG nights were a blast with Motorstorm and Burnout in the past.

Most of us are in our mid to high 20's so racing with expensive and rare cars will be somewhat of a problem for you if you're not the right level to own that specific car. If it comes down to it, and you really want to race with us you're more then welcome and if you don't have the right cars you can either use recommended list or something comparable to what we're racing.

P.S. Start grinding.

While that's somewhat true, most of the races are done with cars that aren't ridiculously expensive. There are often horsepower or weight restrictions as well, so it's not just a case of "who can throw 200,000 creds into a 10,000 cred car".

But, it does make it easier if you have the money to throw at vehicles when it's allowed. So...
P.S. Start grinding.
;)

You probably want to keep all the rewards cars if you can. Most of them aren't worth much and someone always manages to set up a race with a car I just got rid of a couple days ago. :S The ones that are worth anything are probably going to be needed later in your career anyway. ;)

I HIGHLY suggest doing the Seasonal bonus races. There are 5 of them, and they each require a car but it's unrestricted so you can max the car out and then make the money (and XP) back in no time. In total, for winning the 5 races, you get I believe 3.5 million CR and 350,000 XP. Ends Jan. 19th!

The first post in this thread has the names and PSN tags of those signed up. Check the results of the last two or three races in the rest of the thread, just pick a handful of people and send friend requests... just be sure to include "CAG GT5" in there somewhere. Post your PSN name as well so it can get added to the list and so the host knows not to boot you when the lobby goes online before the race.

I was messing with one of those today (Time Trial 2?) and I'm already kinda bitter I missed out on the first two that closed already but I'll make it a point to get to them ASAP. I probably wasted too much time torturing myself with the license tests that I'm not even leveled up to take advantage of yet. (I'm grabbing at least a silver on all of them and in the middle of the IB)

I was eyeing up some of the requirements/results already and I think I get the gist of how it's operating, I'll just try and make sure I'm bankrolled enough to grab what I need when the time comes.

You only get CR and XP in the bonus races, the second event listing from the left (after the academy race). If you do them in order, the CR you win is essentially enough to buy the next car and have some left over to put parts into it.
Anyone have the Cit. C4 WRC car and be willing to lend it to me?
just gold all the rally challenges (not the sebastion loeb ones) I got mine for free, upgraded it, and spanked the hell out of the sebastion races with the c4

Easier said than done :(

Okay. I'm really going to try and be here tomorrow for this. I have yet to go online for racing yet. There is just so much to do in so little time. Hope I can catch up with you all tomorrow.

what settings do you use in rally? no so much the tuning of the physical car, but what assists?

I find if you turn of TCS completely and get a feel for the drifting, you should be able to spank the times

Meh, if I can't get someone to loan me their car by tomorrow I'll just waste some credits and buy the thing. 2 hours of pure frustration trying to gold 2 and 3 isn't worth the hassle at this point.

Well, its your car. The WRC car isn't needed for the first set of rally challenges, but its what I used on the sebastion loeb ones (since i won it)

If these are proving difficult, Id recommend staying away from the AMG challenges. Now those are a friggin bitch

Good question, if we aren't racing tonight officially, I can throw together a quick set of 3 races if anybody is interested with cars we've previously used.

I can be on for those tonight... but I might be a couple minutes late. I'm either on the last or next-to-last Formula World Championship course with B-Spec Bob. He's really not happy, as I forgot to change his tranny after the last one and he can only do 117 217 on a 1.5 mile straight. :S

Edit: Will definitely be late... still have 20 more laps on Suzuka... in the rain. :(

So far I've got the Z4 '03 at 315 HP max, the 350Z/370Z/FairladyZ at 404 hp and I'm just working on the last car now. I'll have the track listing up shortly, bear with me. Two races out of three isn't bad considering I had a long dinner convo.

Edit: Any Civic, max hp 215. Working on the tracks now.

Edit again: Car and track listings for races.
Z4 '03 315 HP max @ Clubman Stage Route 5 Night - Sports Soft
350Z/370Z/Fairlady Z 404 HP max @ Tsukuba Circuit - Racing Hard
Any Civic 215 HP max @ Suzuka Circuit East - Sports Soft
Mods are allowed on all vehicles.

Well, that was definitely interesting. Somehow we ran into like 3 different glitches/oversights tonight. One was that insanely long load time on the last race. The other was Defect starting the race despite not being the host(oversight possibly) and somehow smthng got Host priviledges to change the settings without becoming the host.

Aside from that everything went well. The Z4 race was fun, I'd definitely want to see more of this car. Syn and I were just drifting through this like lunatics. The Tsukuba Circuit with the 350's was interesting, I'd like to do it again on Clubman like we were doing. The Civic race was funny, I think that could do a bit better on Autumn Mini though.

We did rehash the Z4s a bit and tried out the RX-7 Spirit, which did phenomenally better on the Clubman Stage Route 5 stock than a modded Z4 with more horsepower. Definitely going to be in the future line up, RX-7's are dirt cheap too, so they're not a bad car to play with. Had a lot of fun, even had fun with the dirtier racing after the serious stuff was over.
