CAG Grifball Team's Child's Play Charity Drive! $1612.50 raised to date!

Meh, 3 people showed up last night. Myself, fullmetal, and Warked. Anayalator came on much later but I believe we were in our last ranked match and I think everyone forgot he existed at the end of the match. Oh well.

Well, it's been a usual occurance that whenever HotShot isn't on we never have more than four people show up (including myself).
 
I simply cannot play every night. If I do, the good lady wife will be mad at me, and if she's mad, I will be in a world of shit. I will most definitely be there for league games and most likely 2-3 other nights of the week, but I can't do it every night. That's the way it is.

I forgot to mention, that if any of these t.v. shows are on, I will probably be playing:

Biggest Loser, Project Runway, Top Chef, The Office, 30 Rock, and your random I Love New York marathon. And things are looking good when Step It Up and Dance premieres in April.
 
Not playing every night is fine as not everybody will be able to. I just find it odd that every time HotShot isn't on we can't get enough people to start a Grifball game of at least 3 on 3 going (Though it's only been 3 days he's been gone total). This would be a non-issue if Bungie would just ad in a permanent hopper for Grifball (...and a couple other hoppers) as we'd be able to take a team of 3 or 4 people in to practice.

I understand Draekon's frustration when some nights we can't get 6 people on for 3v3. If people involved are serious about the tournament, then we need to be practicing, simple as that.

It's kind of hard to be facing the right way when you must constantly move because you are falling off.
 
Ok...so warked is out? I'm assuming this is all about Anayalator? If so, HotShot already has my stance/reasoning for being pissed off with him, but i agree that the bullshit needs to stay at the door once practice begins.

Notes from last night;

I was bored out of my fucking mind. I know the practices aren't going to be as much fun since we need to get our shit together but might i suggest there being two drills to work on? Like last night, when HS and Warked were up against Draekon and John, you guys lasted a good bit so Anayalator and I just kinda stood there with our thumbs up our ass (i speak for myself naturally).

Another thing, we only had 6 people show up. With the division announced and Cannonball being there, we really need everyone (all 8...or 7 now?) to be showing up. 1. because everyone needs to practice the launching sequence (which HotShot will hopefully post in the first post soon with instructions and pictures) and 2. we need some 4 v 4 games to end the practices on i think. Nothing like an actual scrimmage to apply everything we've been doing up til now.
 
Well, drills don't need to be done on the Foundry map. That's only really needed for practice. Can always try and recruit others to help us via the original maps and just make our own gametype specifically for it that just has gravity hammers and swords and two balls that can be used simultaneously. I can set one up if needed, but the problem would be finding some people willing to help out with it if we're short people.

That's why there are only four players at a time. If I have to come off the bench, that's cool with me. I'll be there when I can and you'll get my best effort and no goofing around.

Anyway, I won't be there tonight (HA HA!) because I've got class and I already missed last week's session.

No worries Ketch, I only expect you to be available for game time (Wed 9:30PM EST), get better when you can make practice, and everything you saw listed above.

Just listened to both Grifball podcasts, and not only is Team Cannonball a part of our division (which we already knew), but 4 of the 6 teams in the division played in the previous league (and we weren't one of them) :). Hammer Division 6 is expected to be the most grueling section of the league considering how many experienced players will be in it.

Expect a hard fought league ahead of us. We will definitely be practicing a lot this weekend, so expect 2 nights of perhaps 2-3 hours of solid grifball and perhaps the occasional BTB. That being said, show up to practice.

apologies for the absence for the last few days...is anyone up for playing tonight? Name the terms, filthy beasts. also, we may need to work on something where we launch one guy right off the bat towards the other team, and that guy wipes out the opponents, or at the very least occupies their time while one of us grabs the bomb.

i just saw it a couple of times in the highlights and it seems to be pretty effective.

How does one launch the other? Using the hammers?
 
Today's a holiday, so I don't think anyone will be on (and I have a ton of work to do). Practice resumes Monday at 10pm EST.

In the meantime, Grifball.com has a thread calling for team logos, anyone got good imaging skills?

Good news everyone! Looks like the Heroic Map Pack is going to be free as of 2 a.m this Tuesday. So there's no longer a 10 dollar entry fee to try out Grifball.
 
Yes, Anagananagana, you have to time a jump just right and make sure the launchee isn't too close. Because non-ballcarriers have their health reduced, you have to keep your distance from teammates (there's an abnormal amount of team-killing, I'm sure you're aware), but a timed jump with a hammer smash can launch a guy a pretty good distance.

BTW, just playing with the name...no harm intended.

Well dude, taking a look at those plays you drew up, I'd say you've got some imaging skillz. And I daresay they could pay the billz.

Ok, i know it's a holiday, but i was just checking. I'll play tomorrow also.

Also, how are we gonna situate ourselves come game night? As captain, I'm guessing you'll have something arranged with the opponent's captain, and invite all the starters (at this point: yourself, fullmetal, draekon, syn) and any reserves (myself, halfbent, anal) will just be online in a just-in-case scenario? Sound reasonable?

I asked because I have only played Beach Grifball and thought the other map might have had something that could launch the player easier.
