CAG Star Trek Online Fleet/game discussion thread

The pet is hella small. I guess the scale is about right, but it's just a little red dot on the screen at normal view.

I believe the DD did have additional Cryptic points, yes.
 
I think the 500 Cryptic points was for preordering through Atari. I don't think there were any Steam-exclusive preorder bonuses, sadly. Nevermind, I just saw this thing about chromodynamic armor. Sounds all right but given the choice I would have taken the points.
 
I could pretty easily grab a few more codes for anyone that wants one, (they're around 2$ each, though) if you shoot me a PM.

I am confused though ... I went to two different Del Tacos (there were two within a couple miles of each other, and since I was out near the airport, it was on the way!), and both had the same cups (blue ones), and would get different cups weekly, or something. Is that what everyone else is finding? Have I missed some of the cups already, for good, then? If so, does anyone have any of the previous codes left?

Also, does each code get you a shuttle? Or only if you get all 4 codes?

Also, I thought Steam was the only place that you could get the chromodynamic armor as a preorder bonus. I bought my copy from Impulse (stardock), and looking in the Cryptic store, It's available for me to get.

So what is the general consensus? How is it? I am morally against paying a monthly fee for a game, but then again if I get to blow up starships in a satisfying fashion I could change my mind.
 
Starship destruction is very satisfying, as is hitting ground units with certain attacks that make them vaporize.
 
We just convinced a co-worker who doesn't play MMOs to try the game. He's DL'ing now, lol. Side note: he bought from Direct2Drive and jebus cripes they have some fucking fast servers. He's almost done with the 10GB file that took a couple hours on Steam.
 
Did anyone preorder the deluxe edition through Steam and actually get the bonus items? My joined Trill and TOS uniform are still not showing up, very frustrating. They don't show up in character creation or in the C-Store as redeemable items.

When I launch the game, Steam pops up a window saying I'll need to enter my retail key but the game never prompts me to. It lets me go right to character creation. I wonder if that might be the problem?

Did you enter your retail key on the website? I bought through D2D and they showed up after that. For now they've overlapped the headstart a bit and you can still get into the game without putting your retail key in but the bonus items won't be there until you do.

Also... you guys suck with all your mouse/keyboard talk cuz now I'm looking at buying one of those gameboard add-ons. The game plays completely fine on my current setup but those just look so awesomely Star Trek
 
Thanks, avatar, that worked. Had to dig to find the "enter code" page on the site, but now I've got all my stuff. Plus I got the 500 bonus points after all, woo!

Yeah I got the unexpected 500 points as well. Definitely a nice bonus since I thought I was giving that up to get the Multi-spatial shield bonus from D2D. Too bad there's not anything I want to buy yet though. Not really interested in playing a Federation-based Klingon or Ferengi.
 
Hey Gunm, what's your STO name? It's easier for me to chat there than on here since I'm at work and I try not to spend a lot of time on the boards. I actually have to get work done :) Just friend me on there or spam me and I can give you details. If I could get another tactical officer (next rank I will) then I will really crush them :) This is only possible in a science ship unless you want to wait until Admiral (I think) since it's a Lt Cmdr science boff power that makes this all work.
 
Ok, I'll shoot you a FR in-game next time I'm on.

Of course I ended up picking a cruiser when I went Lt. >_< I'll let my co-worker know though, 'cause he has a science ship. Or maybe I can pick up a science ship next rank.
 
Yeah, those free Cryptic Points means we can all play Federation Klingons or Ferengi if we want for no additional money. Too cool.

I'm still moving into my apartment (soo much stuff to transport every day), but I hope to be back into playing and working on the fleet website this weekend.
 
Wish there was a free demo.... $60 is a bit hard to swallow... but then again I am cheap. On the other hand this is CAG so we are ALL cheap!

If you get one of the Del Taco codes you get a 2 day free demo plus the in game shuttle.

Speaking of which, if any fleet people still want a shuttle I've got a couple extra codes I'll trade for some unwanted equipment. I'm about to hit Lt Cmdr finally so some MkIII or IV stuff would be nice. PM me here or in game @The_Brain.

Sent you a friend invite, though I don't have any high level stuff yet, I got some shield from a mission I can trade though.

Maybe just have eastx start a new one... although he's had limited 'net access lately. I doubt the OP of the original thread in the PC forum would want to be in charge of updating it.
 
Something just went seriously wrong with my PC and it won't turn back on. fuck. The last thing in the world I want to be doing right now is troubleshooting a computer.

Hmmm... didn't get it when I was on last night. Probably wasn't looking for it though. Out of town and away from the game until late tomorrow so I'll check again then.

Even though I'm currently in the Romulan sector, I guess I will fly down there and see.

UPDATE: Breaking the Planet does appear to be fixed now. I changed into about 10 different instances and they were at different sections of the mission. The server had been restarted this morning so if it was still broken to where it never reset after the first run they wouldn't be at different points this late in the day.

Good to hear. From what I've read the BOffs and now Breaking the Planet is working correctly. Exciting to hear. I've set aside some time to play tonight. Been busy this week. :D
 
Hell yes! Now I can finally finish that mission. I don't particularly care about the PVP one, but that one I liked. Now hopefully they've added the explore mission arc to Iota Pavonis sector (or whatever it's called) so I can get some more exploration badges. My weapons are good, but my consoles are looking pretty miserable.

Man, I don't know if the CE is worth $30 now... I really just want the Badge and in-game bonuses...

How much they sell the badge separately?

Where is the friends list in-game? I'm on the steam fleet but don't know how to find you guys in-game.
 
Well, what do you mean about finding us in-game? Are you a member of the fleet in-game? We had to create the fleet then add everyone.
 
Anyone happen to order a copy from Amazon that didn't pre-order? I'm wondering what my odds are of getting a Borg officer code if I ordered one. Yes, I know it's a pre-order thing and no longer listed, but I figure they may have some extras left.

I didn't realize I had to be online the same time to get an invite. I haven't been on the same time as you guys lately. Oh well.

I had an issue I thought was lag but was a graphics driver issue. Other than that I haven't had much problem, even launch day. But I have a good 6mb connection too.

I'm pretty sure I can send a fleet invite to you as long as I know your exact character name you are wanting invited. I'm logging in right now to check.

UPDATE: I can, just have to have the full CharacterName@Username ID. You can PM me on CAG if you would like as well. I just said online last night because I was on and could send an invite.
