CAG Warhawk Night [TBD]

crap, I step away to eat dinner and the server vanishes. Oh well.

BackinBlack it depends. I know I was making noise every now and then.

I left because I want to make it to some stores before they close, but I guess the server shut down soon after so I didn't miss much?

And yeah, CAG games are usually fairly quiet. I hope the 1.3 patch changes things, since it adds open mic VOIP. Although as it is, my brain is too overloaded during a dogfight to both fly and form coherent sentences, let alone do both of those while holding L3.

Can anyone give a noob some tips? I feel like nothing is together in that game at all. I plan on doing some DM matches this weekend to get more of a bearing...but yeah, i suck at trying to gun people down in planes, and everyone seems to pick up homing missles and i get raped.

Tips? Hmmm, there are only six maps and the weapon pickups don't change so things should be familiar after a bit of play. Also play more. You might want to hang out in the lvl 1. servers and do what the folks who aren't getting killed do.

I got a ps3 a few weeks ago, let alone warhawk, so I don't really know what's going which is why I don't have a lot to say. But say if someone wanted to delegate some jobs I'd be up for it.

There were 5 of us in there until just now, sounds like some people got booted and couldn't get back in. Damn. Well at least there was some fun for a little while.

It was good while it lasted, good games lads. Was great having a little warhawk fix.

It really needs to move from friday night though. Even if it was to saturday during the afternoon or early evening. Lately I've just not been able to do friday nights and this week looks the same.

On the lag note, I experienced it in the first game, got kicked which pissed me off 'cos there went my stats, but came back and was generally fine from there on out.

I keep missing CAG nights. I even noted that last night was a match, and then completely spaced on it when the time actually came around. I second the move from Friday nights, which are usually pretty busy for me. A Saturday early evening game would be ideal.

I just don't do Saturday nights yet because it's reserved for another game. Until I get that other game settled in a little, I plan to alternate nights (won't be until next week at the earliest). Everyone just has to be patient. Although, part of the reason why I'm not really sure about moving it over is EVERY Warhawk night on Friday has gotten the most people, compared to Saturday or any other day, which is why I keep it there.

Well, with bornrunnin31's server, I kind of figured their might be a problem and here's why. At my apartment, I'm on a shared connection, and when you are on a shared connection at times, it will say you can host 24 people, but due to high security and/or heavy traffic, you will lag or maybe have other issues (you will also come up as NAT Type 3, and when you are NAT Type 3, people cannot hear you speak clearly in Warhawk, which is part of the reason you don't hear people talk much in Warhawk).

Back at home though, I can host 20, I'm Type 2 NAT, and everything is fine (you can also hear everyone clearly which may explain why some may talk more).

Anyway, the ONLY thing I plan to do is move Warhawk to 10pm EST on Friday night (because of people usually showing up at 10pm), and that's final for now. Weekdays usually just don't work out too well for online games (or I'm not convinced yet, partially because it's tough to get PST and EST people together due to work/school the next day). I MIGHT have it on Saturday night once I get CoD4 settled in and flip-flop nights, but right now Warhawk IS Friday night and I'm not changing it yet.

If you want Warhawk on another night, find someone to host a server and I'll change the thread title to suit it, and we'll just see how many people show up. ;)

But basically, I've compared the stats of people showing up on various days and Friday/Saturday nights are the two highest, while every other time has been a disaster, and I'm the type of person who absolutely HATES failing at anything. Also, I did Saturday early a few times and it didn't work out at all, which is why I don't really want to do it again.

Sorry, I was away for a bit because I'm having tough times right now in my life (getting a little better now since I figured some problems in my project), and I'll admit I was considering ending my life forever (but I did not). I kind of have a personal problem that thinks that way when everything goes wrong and don't think I can deal with it.

How about doing Warhawk twice during the week... a main night, and a make up night. Same for Cod4, and a night for Burnout... since they're the top games we're playing. Just an idea.

Just an idea.
Well, I plan to shove in 2-3 other game nights shortly (Hot Shots Golf is a guarantee, maybe MLB: The Show and some shooter Dark Sector/Lost Planet/Army of Two) wjocj is kind of why I hate having it on two nights, but then again I will overlap. The ONLY thing will will never do is overlap CoD4, Burnout Paradise, Warhawk, and Hot Shots Golf (HSG will be big online probably).

Anyway, I might open some weeknight for Warhawk. It would be either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. I'm thinking of putting Hot Shots Golf 5 on either Sunday or Tuesday, but we'll see when released. I do NOT want to play games on back to back days for Warhawk, since that will divide the people showing up for the week too badly.

fuss, what's the earliest you can play usually on PST? I'm trying to think of how to fit you in the mix.

Guess I won't be hosting again, lol. Thought I'd give it a try, and glad it wasn't a total bust. On a side not, hopefully you get everything straightened out on your personal end Mana. Sometimes there are more important things than games that need to come first, and we are all glad you are here and so dedicated to making the CAG ps3 community grow. Also, I need to start following the COD4 thread because I haven't made it to a CAG session yet.

I'm up for any night Wed-Sat this coming week because I'm on spring break, but will be back up at school for those days because I volunteered to take half of spring break duty as one of the RA's in our building.

I was really just trying to throw out options. the only nights I just can not do are Thurs night which throws out Burnout night :( and Wed night. And maybe a Tues here and there will be out. Fri night works for me, and I am on the west coast and I am open. The nights that I have wide open are Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon.

Can Josh or mguiddy host a server tonight?

Right now, I'll probably be there; however, I'm still debating whether I call up a friend and hang out tonight, since the weather won't be too bad.

We at Purdue have our Spring Break in just over a week. I plan to spend the break working on my project (if I don't finish before break), change my PS3 HDD (getting a 250GB probably), and sell tons of video games (trying to clear my old backlog of games). I'm selling a bunch of RPGs (on PS2 especially) and if anyone wants to see a list, I'll let them know.

But overall, it has been tough for me and I haven't been playing many games at all. If I get my project done by next week (right now it seems very likely unless my power supply blows up), I'll be playing a lot of games.

Oh yeah, when I'm on Spring Break, I'll be willing to host Warhawk night anytime. I'll also take care of other games to during the week. Actually, since I'm off, we may have a PSN game night every night (we might even play some PSN games like Calling All Cars or something).

As for CoD4, I'm not expecting too big of a game this weekend, but next weekend I'm going to try to put something big together. I still need to get invites straight and be sure I get more on my buddy list (or others who usually play) to make things easier.

If I don't hear from someone to host the game soon, I may just have to cancel Warhawk night and try again next week.

EDIT: It's canceled, unless someone wants to host any many say they will be there.
Whats it take to host? I never attempted to host......

And I really wanted to kick some CAG ass :whee:
Load up warhawk and hit create game. It'll test your connection and tell you how many people you can host. If you get 16 or more you can probably host a game, the rest is just options, maps etc.

Stranded what determines the number of people you can host?

I think there's a number of factors but the biggie is upload speed.

My upload is 768k and I can host only 12. I figure if you have an upload of 1mb or more you'll be able to host 16+ people.

I would've liked to host a game, but I could only do 8 max, which sucks especially since I have a broadband connection. I thought I could do at least 24 rather easily...
I can do 24 players from school if we need that much for hosting.
Test it out before you do, because sometimes those school connections are too secure (usually NAT Type 3 even when opening the DMZ), and can have lag/people getting kicked out due to being a shared connection also. That's why I can't host in my apartment, but you can test it out on your own first, seeing if it works out.

I can also host 20 when I go back to school...Stuck at the parents' for SB. I dont live on campus either so the NAT type should be fine

Exactly what went wrong Wed. night, an oversight on my part
Exactly what went wrong Wed. night, an oversight on my part
That's all right. :) I had problems myself once, but I figured it might have only been me. Oh well, that's cool and don't feel bad things didn't work out. I'm just glad you tried and wanted to provide us with a server. :)

I picked up Warhawk on Monday. I've been enjoying it almost every game (except when spammers camp at your base with the Warhawks so it's not fun anymore) and not when the game freezes after being on one of those blue servers.

So yeah, I'm ready to play anytime.

All right, I'll tell you what you need to do in order to host one day (about how the map rotation works out and what options to have).
You still going to send me that?

I'd still like to try hosting, I'd try tonight but it's short notice.
