CAGFC (UFC 2009 League) - HW's Only! New Site! Details Inside!

Created a new guy and have been working on him for the last week or so. Although, some shitty spar sessions has hampered the progress a bit. I can only announce a threatening change (cue laughter) of 60 overall right now. But unlike my old career, I can safely say I have a winning record right now.

Perhaps later on the third time will be the charm, but I'll stick with my new guy for now. No changes in info besides the overall rating.

Ah, that sucks man. Sadly, I think we've all been there. I assume you'll be sending it in though, which would put yout out of commission for what...2 weeks? We can just say you pulled your groin, and had to back out of the fight, haha.

Actually, this is where the weight classes being uneven comes in handy. Brandon Craig could step in and take your fight. Hopefully he'll be up for it. Just let us know when you're back up and running so I'll know to add you to the card again.

Two weeks? Has turnaround really improved THAT much? I only ask because the last time I ringed it took a month to get back. That was back in 2007, though.

Well, two weeks is what they claim...and we're not too close to any major holidays, so you should be all right. Besides, positive thinking is the key! :D
 
The turnaround has improved quite a bit. With my last one they sent out a replacement system a day or two after they got the red ringed unit. I think it was about two and a half weeks and that was with them sending me a coffin.
 
Hey Pimpster I can't play anytime today but I should be free the majority of Tuesday and Wednesday. Let me know when you can play.

I actually ventured into ranked play. Lost one and won one last night. Only played one bout tonight online, and the guy was actually courteous enough to fist bump before both rounds and sent a friendly message after I tapped him (he was fucking em up standing). No quitters yet. This has been nice.
 
Has anyone thought about making a silver gamertag so we can see when the other fighters are online? It might make it easier to set up fights.

Yeah, actually that's not a bad idea. I was thinking that with only one fight a week, it wouldn't serve a huge purpose. But as CAGFC grows, it might make it easier to keep up with everybody. I'll set one up later today.

Good fight between me and Drew. With his guy being 6'5", I felt way undersized, haha. He came out throwing heavy shots too. I avoided most of them, but after getting tagged a couple times, I said "fuck that shit!", and took him to the mat, lol. We jostled for position for a minute or so, but then he gave me his back and I was able to sink in the good ole RNC. There's a lot of tall guys in the middleweight class, man. It kinda scares me, haha :)
 
n8rockerasu, would it be possible to set up a system of sending PMs or some sort of mass message out when we have a fight scheduled? Kinda like the baseball league weeks? I've been running around this weekend and didn't realize I even had a fight scheduled. Guess it doesn't matter though because I haven't heard from my opponent.

Speaking of which, I'm around tonight to fight if you want to. I'm gonna be gone tomorrow, but will be back Thursday night.
 
So finals are over this week and i'de like to fight again. I was suppose to fight Matt something but School and scheduling conflicts kept happening. I should be able to fight anytime now. I dont care if I have to fight my way up, Just would like some fights haha.
 
I beat Jackie Chan once, and he beat me once. We're due for a tiebreaker. I want another shot at that title and I think I deserve it. But if I have to go through Eric Ortiz to get my shot, I'll go through Eric Ortiz.

Ehh, I really can't do that for this kind of league. There's just too many people to keep up with. I mean, think about what you're asking. Me sending out 30+ PMs each week, or each person being responsible for themselves and checking in on the thread every once in awhile. I understand what you're saying, and wish there was some kind of mass message thing on CAG (if I could have a contact list kind of thing, where I could just select "check all", I'd do it).

But the most I can offer you now is what Darktower suggested earlier. I set up a silver account for CAGFC so it's at least easier for people to do the "friend of a friend" thing and see if their opponent is online. That won't help with knowing that you have a fight, but it might make it easier to get in touch with people. That's the best I've got.

It's cool man. I know I was grumpy as hell during the tournament, but it just got to a point where it felt grueling and the entire league was being held up. But the weekly cards are a totally different animal. There aren't any hard feelings for missing a fight. You take your loss, and you move on. The league moves on. And everybody stays happy. As long as people stay active, they'll continue to get fights. Those who don't will fall to the bottom of the rankings, never to be heard from again. But don't worry. You'll have a spot on the card next week! :)

Oh, also, like I was mentioning to Ultimate Matt X, I went with Darktower's idea of creating a silver gamertag for CAGFC. It is aptly named: CAGFC. I added everybody that was on my friend's list already, but ask the rest of you guys to at least add CAGFC to your lists (if you have room), so we can keep up with each other a little better. The "friend of a friend" system isn't perfect, but at least that way, we'll have a single directory of guys in the league, rather than having to add your opponent every week. You don't have to use it, but I just wanted to let everybody know that it's there.

Haha, yeah, well I mainly just created him to be Gary's nemesis. Since I'm playing on expert, I fully expect to top him off at about a 75 rating, and then begin terrorizing the heavyweight class. Mwahahahaha!!! :boxing:

Yeah, I don't expect anything too crazy and really I don't care if you don't want to do anything outside of the new CAGFC account, but I don't think it would be too hard to message us once and then reuse the list. If I can figure it out I'd send something around and maybe you could just do a replay to all to a PM or something. I'll watch the thread more often though.

Good fight, I think he was getting the better of me on the feet, once again I had some lag so that didn't help the situation. The armbar was off a catch counter when he was in my guard....... and it was by accident. I didn't mean to click the stick but I did with the right timing and that was that.
 
I really want to face someone from the heavyweight division tonight. i'm on a 6-fight win streak which is something i never do and I'm feeling pretty good right now. Vulcan, I'm coming for ya!

EDIT: Pretty back and forth during the first couple minutes. I'd get in some strong hits but he came back with a flurry of smaller ones, and I tried for a clinch and only got a couple knees in before i took him down. When we got up though we both went for a headkick, and I got mine in faster and knocked him out.

Wait, are you talking about sending PMs through CAG or on Live? I could potentially see it being doable on Live if I can get everybody to add the CAGFC gamertag to their friends list. That way, I could just do it on Xbox.com and cover everybody on the list. I was more talking about doing it through CAG...since you can only PM 5 people at a time.
 
Roy Jones Jr. over Jason Hart KO in Round 3.

I guess it was my connection since I hosted the game but it was laggy as hell. Seen dominated the fight and except for some single-arm clinches and a few kicks my offense was minimal. He stunned me and KO'd me in the third round. Great job seen.

I was so frustrated I tried to throw my controller into the couch as sometimes happens with me but I missed and it went flying across the room and I broke the right analog stick. As always, I'm an idiot.

Wow, nice to see all the activity tonight! New members joining, fights going down. This is how it's supposed to be!

And it looks like we've had another successful title defense. Congratulations to Codi Garber, who hung on to the Welterweight title by forcing Jimi Smith to tap out due to an armbar as the 1st round was drawing to a close. Garber will definitely be looking to take on new challengers next week as he continues his title defense.

Also, I wanted to note, 8 of the 11 fights on the card have been completed. That's really great guys! This is what we've got left.

Chris Moore vs Matt Domoracki
Allen Duke vs Brandon Haines
Andrew Kennel vs Christian Martinez (LW title fight)

Lets just get these fights done by 11:59 PM EST on Thursday night, so I can post the next card Friday morning. For anybody who's curious what would happen if any of the fights aren't finished in time, they'll go to a "judges decision", with the winner being decided based on effort shown in this thread to make the fight happen.

Taking a loss won't be a devastating blow (not like in other leagues where it might ruin your season), and the most important thing is keeping CAGFC moving forward. Hopefully these other three fights will happen (you guys still have like 48 hours, so that's plenty of time) and no decisions will be necessary. Great job so far though guys! I really like how this is starting to shape up.

Seriously though, I wish I knew what caused the lag. I think all we can assume is that it's the individual connections. When I had my fight with xcoax earlier tonight, it was smooth as butter. Actually, I haven't had a fight with lag in awhile. *knock on wood* With the connection problems this game has, you'd think it was made by SCEA, haha :)
